Anabel then placed the side of her right index finger up against her lips. "Shh," she quickly interrupted the young man. He was surprised by this reaction. She then quickly turned around, her body pointing towards Fionnlagh. Fionnlagh saw her and realized what exactly she was about to do. There was nothing he could do but sigh and accept it.

She then looked back at the young man, her face was still light with a lukewarm smile. "Follow me, please," she told him. The young man had to follow behind her, knowing that perhaps she would guide him. Though he was very hesitant, he knew it was something he had to do. His legs began to work, moving along with the woman.

Once over by the table where she once was, Anabel sat back down in her chair. She then extended her right hand out to her side, it pointed towards an empty chair. "Please, sit," said the woman.

"Oh," the young man acknowledged, pulling out the chair. "th-thank you."

As the young man sat down in the chair, Fionnlagh couldn't help but to keep his glare firmly on top of the young man. "So," the commander said. "what's your name?"

He turned towards Fionnlagh, taking the lurking eyes of the god. "D-Daevarro..." he introduced himself, his voice taut.

Anabel closed her eyes, her smile still very much there. "Daevarro..." she named. "What an unusual name."

Daevarro turned towards Anabel, scratching the right side of his face. A timid smile cracked up on his face. "Is it?" he nervously questioned.

"All right, Daevarro," continued Fionnlagh. "I couldn't care less if you're a god or a human. So, I'm gonna ask... why do you want to join the Resistance?"

His eyes were then lost, but anybody could see the fury and hate in his eyes. Ten seconds passed without a hitch or a word. "I want to stop them," he stated, his voice far more sure than any other time he has spoken thus far. "those... monsters."

Something about the emotions that clouded his eyes... there was no way that this young man could actually be some sort of spy. ""Monsters", huh." Fionnlagh quoted, becoming a bit curious now. "Can't say I can disagree with you there. So, you out for vengeance?"

Daevarro's eyes then lit back up, they quickly find Fionnlagh's face. "Huh?"

"Look, your reasons for fighting can be whatever you damn well please them to be." stated the commander. "Hell, most of the Resistance are out for revenge. But our real job here to is fight for the equality of all... got it?"

Daevarro shook his head. "Y-yes, sir," he acknowledged.

"All right, looks like you can join us." Fionnlagh stated. "I have to speak with Anabel here for a sec. In the meantime, you wait here."

Daevarro shook his head, listening well to what Fionnlagh had to say. The two departed the dark robed young man for a moment. They stood there in the furthest one could be, beside an unassuming door. Anabel stood to the left side of the door while Fionnlagh was adjacent to her. Daevarro noticed that the two were now talking to each other.

A wee bit curious, the young man was. So, he tuned his hearing in that direction. It wouldn't be the first time he's done it today. He kept his head down, his eyes staring at the blank wooden face of the table. Anabel's eyes looked over at the young man and then quickly went back to Fionnlagh's scarred face. "So," she quietly spoke. "what do you think of him?"

Fionnlagh crossed his arms and shook his head. "There's no way that boy can be a spy," the god explained, looking over at Daevarro. "there's just far too much emotion in his eyes for that to be possible."

Anabel shook her head, agreeing with her leader. "I saw that too," the former assassin stated.

Fionnlagh turned his head back over to Anabel. "So, we're in agreement then?" the leader wondered.

"Yes," she concurred, taking a step away from her leader. "I'm going to show him to our headquarters now, all right sir?"

Fionnlagh shook his head, saying yes without the use of words. "I've got to wrap up some things here," he stated. "so I'll join you in a little while."

Anabel began to retrace her steps, stepping back over to that table. Daevarro noticed her coming but didn't pick his head up to greet her. She looked down at her, bearing that same tepid smile as before. "Follow me, please," she said to that robed young man, making him raise his head. "I've got orders to show you to our headquarters."

Daevarro lifted himself from out of his chair. The two then began walking side-by-side out of the Bemused Buzzard and outside to the market district. The streets became more void of life as they approached the eastern section of the city. It was now to the point where they were the only signals of life around this vast sea of stone and wood.

They continued to walk down this long road that had many twist and turns. It was like they were walking down a path that captured life's very essence. The two were silent as continued to move forward. "Mr. Fionnlagh is a nice man," she said, sharing her opinion with the young man. "I don't think I could ask for a better leader... well, except for Master Raphael perhaps."

"Who's he?" questioned Daevarro's soft voice.

"He's the Resistance's leader," she mentioned, answering his question. "The Resistance is scattered across the entire land. There are two sub-divisions, the Falador Resistance and us, the Governanti Resistance. Then there's the main body of the Resistance, the Lumbridge Resistance, which is led by Master Raphael."

With his question answered, Daevarro looked away from Anabel and silently kept walking. She looked up at the sky. "I owe him everything," Anabel stated. "my life even. My brother was so bound and determined to prove to me that the Resistance killed our parents. So, he dedicated his life to ending the Resistance. I blindly followed behind him because there was nothing else in this world for me to do. He was killed as a result of this mission of his... and I was ready to continue following him. But Master Raphael came to me and gave me a new purpose. So, I owe him very much."

"...I see," Daevarro replied.

Anabel then turned towards Daevarro. She clenched her left hand into a lightly knitted fist and placed the side of it against her lips. She began to giggle tenderly. "You don't talk very much, do you?" she commented. "When I said that your name was unusual, I wasn't kidding. My name is pretty common among my family. Supposedly, it's derived from one of the founding members of my family. Her name was Ambelia."

"Who is your family?" he asked.

"Hmm," she pondered. "well, they live out in the desert. We're called the Desert Assassins. We weren't blood related but we were a big, happy family. And our queen was kinda like our mother. If you could get passed her cold exterior, she was actually a kind woman. Then there's Calvin, who was kinda like our father. He's a bit of a dork, but just like our queen... he is a very kind person. Then there is our Guidance, the person we look up to when we need to correct our path."

"What's their name?" Daevarro asked curiously.

"Her name is Lamia. She's a kind, soft-spoken woman who has had a terrible amount of change in her life." Anabel responded, answering Daevarro's question. "What about you, Daevarro? Have you got a family?"

Once she asked that question, Daevarro's eyes strayed away. His face darkened, becoming the shade of his robes. "I..." he mumbled, his left hand reached up towards his pendant. His hand took a soft latch upon it. "... I—"

"—You don't have to say it, I understand." spoke Anabel, ceasing Daevarro's voice. A silence split out on top of the two. Daevarro looked away from Anabel while she looked away from him. A minute or two of the two just walking forward, Anabel had to conjure up words to cast a spell to make Daevarro feel better.

She quickly spun her head around, facing the dark robed young man again. "Daevarro," she named apprehensively. "You don't have to face your problems alone. Because you've joined us, me, (co) Mr. Fionnlagh, and the entire Governanti Resistance are all going to be your family now. We're here for you, okay?"

"I—" mumbled the young dark-robed man, a light smile grew on his face. "—Thank you..."

Anabel shook her head, Daevarro's smile reflected onto her face. "Don't mention it." she responded. The two then approached a building two stories high. "C'mon, I'll show you inside."

With many tall buildings all around them, the two find the building known as their headquarters. The district that they were in was eerily quiet. The buildings were unkempt and coming apart, rubble littered the streets. The streets had no life, only the gentle howl of the wind was all the music that played.

That street had absolutely no light at all, only the faint shine of the pale-skinned giant could guide the way. Daevarro's attention then began to wander, looking at the state of the area. He couldn't help but to question and to wonder why exactly it looked like this. "Where are all the people?" he asked.

"Ah," she said as her right hand grasped the doorknob. "this district used to be the place where the slaves would be housed. But after Balor demanded that all slaves be thrown out of those houses, this place has really become somewhat of a ghost town. They were then moved to south of here, to the encampment."

"I see," he replied, his hazel irises gazed at every corner. "this world is very cruel."

"And that's why we're going to fix it." the former assassin assured, looking at Daevarro and shaking her head confidently. She then opened the door and the two drifted inside. "We're going to make a world for everyone to enjoy, a world absent of the fear of war and the terror of absolute death. I just hope that it's possible."

"I hope so too," concurred Daevarro.

Anabel held her hands behind her back, stepping deeper into the entrance room. "Anyhow," Anabel said. "this is our headquarters. Please, make yourself at home. If you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them."

"I'm fine," he stated.

Anabel shook her head, acknowledging Daevarro's answer. "All right," she replied, turning towards the stairs at the back-most wall. "have a good night then."

She had begun to walk towards the stairs when Daevarro realized that he wanted to say one last thing. He reached his right hand out in front of him. "Ah, please wait," he beseeched.

She paused in place, twirling her torso to the right. She looked back at the young man who seemed to have a scribble ball being drawn over the chalkboard of his mind. She had her eyebrows raised, curious as to what Daevarro had to say. "What is it?" Anabel wondered.

His hand fell back down to his side. "I-I just wanted to say," the robed young man continued, explaining what he had halted Anabel for. He then quickly bowed his head towards the ex-assassin. "thank you very much."

The path of an invisible pencil then sketched a gentle smile upon the young girl's face. Her kindhearted eyes closed. "Of course." she replied, her eyes reappearing in Daevarro's vision. "Please sleep well, Daevarro. I'll see you tomorrow." The young lady then began walking up the stairs.

Daevarro's hazel irises watched as she climbed up to the next floor, escaping the anarchy and darkness of the mortal world. She disappeared from sight, leaving him all to himself. But the dark robed young man began to walk towards a small window to the right of the door. His eyes soar, being evicted from this small paradise and tossed out into the gelid land.

His left hand grasped upon that small pendant that hung from his neck. The moon light peered back at the young man, noticing that he looked up at it. It provided him with a light that matched the color of his skin, it was a warm yet frigid light. He seemed satisfied with the events that occurred upon this day. Yet still, his heart was filled with much grief.

Elsewhere, another person reached for a pendant. Within the fortified stone walls of a city deprived of its peace of mind, the young archer was lost in her room. She was without her weapons or her teal blue coat. She wore her short-sleeved black shirt that is usually underneath her teal blue coat. Her arms were quite toned, but her left arm still wore the injury she sustained all those battles ago.

Yes, the battle that cost her and the Resistance their prized leader. A scar from that wound appeared rather vividly, going down across her entire arm. She was sitting on a wooden chair that was in front of a table. Underneath the table she sat in front of was a small drawer. It was opened out to the archer, revealing many old mementos of the past.

With both her mind and body completely taxed, it came to be the time where she had to recover. But how could one recuperate after witnessing those events of the day? Still the memories of her past continuously broke through whatever shield she could throw over herself. Much like the boy far north of her, Elena could not let go of this grief that burdened her.

She was tied to the clock, shackled by time like she's its prisoner. No matter how much she begged and pleaded, her freedom would not be restored. Like glass of shattered memories had rained down on top of her head, the deep wounds of the past still continued to bleed profusely even after all the long years. She had little hope to hold on to.

Her hands were bowled, in the center of her joined hands was a small pendant. It was a sliver of that adamas crystal. It was a lime green, an exceptionally rare color for the adamas to appear in. It was held by a fine silver chain that seemed rather old and weathered. Her eyes were down, she appeared to be in deep thought. "Don't worry, mother..." she softly mumbled as if she were talking to someone. "I'm going to stop hiding now."

She then pulled the tips of that necklace behind her head, tying it around her neck. She had also put on a a jeweled choker made of platinum metal. It was engraved with a design, almost like a vine with circular leaves sort of appearance. In the center of said choker was a small adamas shard.

She was bathed in that familiar pale light as she painfully reminisced the days that led to this moment -- the moment that she would accept that her joyful past as Elena Ortrun, this masquerade that she had constructed, was dead. As the furious shouts of today wrestled with the memories of the past, she couldn't help but to be disheartened by it all.

She hadn't even confronted Uriel, the young boy who she would protect with her life if need be. She hadn't even seen him, despite all knowing and buzzing about her return. Or perhaps, it would be more appropriate to say her arrival. Yes, the departure of that female archer has come and gone. And the arrival of an Imperial princess had soon come full circle.

She gently closed the drawer into her past, sitting up from the chair. She walked up to the glass face, enchanted by the moon's pull. Its white light reflected off of her mortal eyes, the primal display of the power she so loathed. Though, coming to the end of her thinking... she knew now that nothing would be the same. This day would now be like all the others.

The state of the world was just the same as those living in the decimated capital of the Resistance. Hatred was everything -- the only thing. It was around every corner, on every street, and nestled deeply in every heart. No man was strong enough to resist the charmer called hate, who believes all of mankind can solve their problems with an endless thread of ill-will.

This would bring them to the appraiser called vengeance, who determines all causes are unfair and unjust and thus demands reciprocation. Indeed, hatred is a wrongful, tainted savior that is both an ally and an enemy. But to the people of this cruel, distorted world where no life could flourish... hatred was all that they could live for.

Chapter 12: Pleading Insanity

With gray clouds overhead, a soul crushing wind blew through the land. It had been just a few days since blood-red flames burned away the tranquility and love in this once vibrant city. No progress had been made in the fixing of this place, only the progress in carrying off the dead in their arms. It was still a completely hopeless, lifeless place.

A crowd formed behind the castle, all members of the city that were willing to attend came here. Before those still standing, crudely packed corpses laid before them beneath the dirt. At the head of the grave of each person, a wooden stick was placed. On top of that stick, a star wrapped in a red ribbon. It appeared to be that of the Saradomin star, but slightly tilted to its left. It looked like an X with pointy edges.

Tied around the necks of everyone in attendance, a hooded cloak of sorrow made of wool. It was black and quite long, reaching down to about their ankles. Some varied in size though, but it was mostly ankle-length. Each person wore the hood over their heads, allowing anyone to submerge themselves in this gathering.

The wide majority of townsfolk were killed in this attack, leaving but a few behind. An older man carried a long stretch of paper in his hand. It was Death's list, a long line of jotted down names adorned it. The man, wearing a hat similar to that of the cappello romano, read out these names. With each name, a moan was born. It was a sorrowful, heartaching cry for justice.

It was something those of the Resistance had to bear of their shoulders, a burden of hope that one day all of this death and sadness will give birth to a new world. Elena was at the front of the crowd, keeping her head down. As she heard the desperate pleads of those who lost more than they could ever gain, her hands clenched tightly.
