"I see..." she mumbled quietly. Raphael's right hand grabbed onto the left door, pulling it open. He swooped in, attempting to exit the view of the crowd. Elena stopped at the top step, pausing before the wooden doors. Her hand grasped the door's handle, but alas her eyes were forced backwards. She twisted to her left, her head turning to look back at the people and town that was left in ruins.

She seemed quite saddened by it all, the memories and faces of those she gazed upon still very fresh in her mind. Her heart grinded together emotions like they had pounded inside a pestle and mortar, feeling every tear crash down upon her. They all stirred together, becoming a whirlpool. She truly felt like she no longer belonged in this place.

Though the city of Lumbridge hummed a hymn thats lyrics were truly one of malady and hatred, the city of Governanti was as quiet and still as a lifeless heart. Upon this beautiful day, the sun's light came into the sky and waved hello to any and all who would step into its view. The familiar sounds of the talk of the city came into the air, especially around the market district.

Beside a building close to the center of this long straight road stretch of shops and trade, a young man in front of a merchant's stall began placing items on its tables to display. The young man seemed physically and emotionally drained, his hand reached into a box to take hold of an item. It appeared rather fragile.

The young man was dressed in rather ragged clothing, it was stained with dirt and dried blood. His ankles were bounded by cuffs held together by a chain. Engraved on both of the cuffs was a magical symbol, it looked like two arrows that pointed up and down were merged together. The fragile item was a glass statuette of the Hero King, the very same statue at Ormemel.

He grasped that statuette with his shaking hands, he almost looked like he was going to collapse at any single moment. The glass statuette then suddenly fell from his hands, crashing down upon the ground below him. He dropped down onto one knee, feeling so extremely weak. The glass statuette instantly shattered, crushed into pieces much like the spirit of this young man.

Immediately after the sound was made, an older man came charging out of the house that the stall was in front of. His cerulean blue faintly glowing irises bolted over at the sight of the remains of the statuette. His eyes then fired towards the young man who seemed rather ill. "You!" the older god's voice loudly spoke, quaking with rage. He ran in front of the young man, his eyes never leaving his side. "What do you think you're doing?!"

"I-I..." the young man tried to speak but his voice was lost, he was too weak to even speak words. "I-I... feel..."

The god then wrapped his right hand around the young man's throat, pulling him up off the ground and even up off his feet. He began to choke the life out of the young man. "You feel what!?" he furiously yelled. "You feel tired!? Is that what you're trying to tell me!?"

Frightfully looking from a distance, all the other slaves watched the situation helplessly. Even with all of this going on, the other gods among the crowd of the market district weren't even bother by it at all. They continued their activities as if nothing were happening. The older god's eyes were so wide with anger that they looked like they were about to pop out of his head.

His grasp upon the young man was like thick smoke from a fire had a hand. The young boy's life was literally being choking out of his lungs. "Your continued incompetence will no longer be tolerated!" the older god bellowed with rage. "Time and time again, your complete and utter lack of gratitude towards me for sparing your miserable life has disgusted me! And now, you would commit the greatest offence of all by dropping our lord, the Hero King! You should be eternally grateful to him! He did spare your pitiful lives after all! But no more! I'm done with putting up with you!"

A young boy wearing the same exact slave attire frantically approached the two. He waved his hands in front of him in a panic. "W-wait, sire!" he pleaded. "Pl-please, give him another chance! He's been sick, you see!"

The older god's eyes bolted over to the young boy. "Who gave you permission to speak, trash?!" he shouted, raising his left foot up. He then launched his foot forward, aiming for the center of the young man's torso. The young boy was hit heavily by the blow, the pounding attack sent him straight to the ground.

He landed hard on his back once the vicious blow had been dealt, but the damage had been done. The young boy curled up in the fetal position, wrapping his arms around his chest. He moaned in pain, he lacked the ability to truly grasp it. And all those watched could just watch hopelessly as the young man's life faded away.

Some looked on in horror, others covered their mouths or eyes. But most just kept going on with their lives, without a care about what was going on. The older god then just tossed the lifeless body so casually like he truly was trash. The body landed in an alleyway, now laying forgotten. The older god's eyes then slashed across the area.

The slaves who were watching quickly got back to what it was that they were doing before they got caught staring. He then turned his eyes down upon the young boy who had begun to painfully sob. He cried, mourning the loss of the young man. The older god's eyes looked upon the boy, lacking any empathy whatsoever. "Get back to work, boy," demanded the god. "time is money."

The older god then walked back into the house, slamming the door shut behind him. Other slaves rallied around the boy and supported him however they could. Another pair of eyes was watching the scene. He truly stuck out of the crowd, he and his dark gray robes. Standing at five-feet-seven-inches tall, he weighed quite an unhealthy level. He appeared almost quite literally as just skin and bones.

His hazel eyes that peered into the situation had a extremely dim glow to them, it was much fainter than the typical eyes of a god. His skin was very pale. The young man's hair was as black as charcoal, its length was just past his ears. But his short hair was quite unkempt as if he were just in a scrap.

He wore a dark gray unbuttoned cassock as it did not appear to have any buttons. The appearance of this cassock was elegant and beautiful. It was long, reaching down to about his ankles. The cassock had a light gray trim across its edges. On top of his cassock, he wore a dark-gray hooded Inverness cape which goes all the way down to his waist.

Much like the edges of his cassock, the edges of the his cape are also trimmed by that lighter gray color. He wore a sword on his back, but it was no ordinary blade. It was a katana, concealed in a iron casing with a tanned leather inlay. For the most part, the blade was hidden underneath his Inverness cape. The end of the sheath and the handle of the blade was all that could be seen.

The handle of the katana was wrapped by a black string of cloth of soft fabric. Around his neck, he wore a very strange pendant that was held by a thin gray cloth. The pendant itself was a smooth chuck of a black metal. The pendant was not very large at all, being the size of just a cork. The pendant blended so very well with his dark clothing that it was very hard to notice that the pendant was actually there.

His pale skinned hands were encased in thick, dark gray gloves. Around his waist, he wore a tied-off light grey sash made of a rather smooth silk-like fabric. The excess of this sash hung off from his right side, coming down to his knees. To the left side of his waist, on his sash he wore a dagger cased in a modest leather sheath.

The dagger was pretty well concealed by the sash, showing only the handle. That handle was wrapped in a long gray string of tattered cloth that was barely fit to be a comfort. He also wore on his sash a small grey cloth pouch flooded with all kinds of runes. For pants, he wore dark-gray slacks and he wore grey boots on his feet. He seemed fazed by the situation, but he kept moving forward once the scene ended.

He pressed onward, walking towards the Imperial Castle of Governanti. Just ten minutes later, he stood before the jaws of the castle. But a scene had begun to play out before the gates, his advanced hearing was able to capture the words just before he came to view.

That very two-story building from before, the one that just last night was the one where Calvin and Libitina were on top of, seemed like a well place to hide. The young man quickly threw himself behind it, eavesdropping on the conversation. "—What?!" shouted one of the knights that guarded the gate. "My lord, we would never!"

"Really?" asked the other man. The voice belonged to General Gallows. "I bet you'd like for me to believe that, wouldn't you human."

"Milord, it's the truth!" exclaimed the other knight. "I vow that we would neve—"

"Silence!" yelled Gallows in a demanding tone. "You think your alibis are enough to sway me? Because of your foolishness, His Majesty -- he, who allowed you to stay within our walls -- is now in a deep state of shock and sorrow. Are you proud of yourselves?"

The young man then peeked from behind the wall, his hazel eyes gazed upon the back of the general. They gazed upon his majorelle blue cape and the face of the lion that symbolized their kingdom. As the heated discussion between the knights continued, something began to overcome the young man behind the wall.

That cape's color, that symbol... no doubt about it, he was a member of the Imperial Kingdom of Governanti. With this confirmation, the young man's teeth gripped together. Just by that man's appearance, it brought that an indignation unlike any other. His hands turned into tight fists, his harsh eyes fiercely etching their way into Gallows' back.

His trembling hand reached down for his dagger. Gallows turned his head towards the knight to the left, who fearlessly defended and pleaded their innocence. "I highly suggest you two watch yourselves," advised Gallows to his men."His Majesty is one not to be messed with if it is his sister who is involved."

The knights stood as still as a pole, clenching their left hand into a fist and placing them at the right side of their chest. "Yes, sir!" they saluted. Gallows began walking back towards the castle, he knew deep down inside that indeed they have a hand in this. The two knights closed the gates behind him, their eyes spew words behind his back.

The young man had quickly hid himself back behind the building once Gallows had begun to retreat to the castle. The grasp that made him succumb to that fury had lulled, allowing him to return to himself. He shook his head, disagreeing with what he had in mind. He leered his eyes passed the wall, gazing upon the castle that held the people that he loathed.

He shuffled all across the map of the castle, attempting to find some kind of flaw. But the security was as tight as a knot. " There's no way I can get anywhere near them... " he softly spoke to himself. " Dammit, I didn't come this far just to give up! "

He hid himself back behind the wall. " No... " he denied to himself. " ...there has to be another way! " The young man in the dark robes disappeared from the area, hidden within the many alleyways that housed so much death. The alleyways were covered by corpses, old and new. The stench was overpowering, it was almost too much to bear. The smell of decay, the smell of blood and death, would cause any weak stomach to become ill.

The fact that the gods would just leave bodies on the streets like common trash was enough to want him to get angry. But he held himself together. The morning became the afternoon and that became the evening. The sun sat of the belt of the sky, peeking one last time. The young man stumbled upon the southeastern section of the city, just another place of depression.

Humans in tattered clothing and a few tiny wooden structures too poor to be called houses lined the streets. The people were deprived, both of food and sleep. There were hundreds -- if not thousands -- that lived along this string of road that led to a circle. These people had no place to lay their head, no place to call home, no hope whatsoever.

There were no buildings in this area, save thick stone walls that separated this district from the rest of the city. It was a large field of grass with a few rather decrepit stone pathways called streets. This small road lead to a circular pathway where most of the slaves appeared to be. Knights stood on guard, doing whatever it took to hold themselves firm.

There were a few structures along the streets. They were barely fit to call buildings, they were put together with wooden planks and bent rusty nails. A few godly eyes kept watch over the knights and the slaves. They were known as the Loyal Watch, a branch of the Loyal Knights that kept a close eye over Governanti's slaves. The young man walked the desperate streets of the district.

Some humans begged before the feet of the Loyal Watchers for basic needs, but no such pity was given. Not even a word. Guards held onto torches while the slaves had a campfire to surrounded themselves with to fight Autumn's late night chill. The humans all seemed so hopeless, some laughed and joked with each other but most were too helpless to even do that.

The young boy from before quickly rushed by the dark robed young man and ran over to an older man. The older man acknowledged the young boy's coming. But something was amiss, the older man could see it on the boy's face. The older man, presumably his father, spoke to the boy and asked what had happened.

The boy had confessed to him with tears in his eyes, that his brother, the young man from earlier had been killed. The father's expression darkened, unable to believe what his son just told him. The older man quickly threw his arms around the boy to attempt to console him. The young man's face seemed to drop too, he couldn't understand this world that he walked in.

But then his sharp hearing caught words spewing out from two guards that were talking to each other. They were watching the very thing that the dark-robed young man was looking upon. "Poor kid," he sympathized. "I gotta say... I hope the Resistance ends this soon. Really, I don't know how much more of this I can take."

"Shh! Those damned Watchers are gonna hear you...!" suggested the knight to the other, he got rather quiet. "But yeah, I agree. But I believe in our resistance... I know they'll get somethin' done."

""Our resistance"?" quietly asked the knight. "You mean the rumors are true, then?"

"Yep..." he confirmed, his voice far more softer than what it was a moment ago. "I see 'em a lot at the Bemused Buzzard, the tavern in the market district. Those two are quite a pair, I tell ya."

The young man digested this information, keeping it close to him. He knew that alone he stood no chance, but with a group perhaps he would get somewhere. With this key piece of information, he began making his way to that very tavern. The young man swallowed his hesitation and began to walk the streets. He blended together with the still lively crowd around the markets.

Along the roads of the southern part of the market district, sat the very tavern spoken of in the past: the Bemused Buzzard. It was a silly name that was hard to miss. The young man meekly threw himself into the mouth of the wolf, nervously taking step. But he took it step-by-step. The tavern was busy, teeming with activity.

Word of the princess, the attack on Lumbridge as well as the other many topics drowned the air. A familiar man was as usual chatting up the bar. Calvin talked to any and all who were willing to do a little socializing. But even his pale blue eyes couldn't help but to be attracted to that strange garb that young man was wearing.

There was just something about those robes that seemed to rack the assassin's head with question, picking at the bare bones of his mind. What was it about this strange boy that bothered Calvin so greatly? With the glint of his pendant that appeared and faded away, the young man stood in the heart of the crowd.

He was completely lost, almost uncomfortable with the situation he was in. Forget the buzzard, the young man was truly the bemused one. But he knew he had to see it through. In the far back of the tavern, those that he was looking for were looking at him. Fionnlagh's light blue slightly glowing eyes grabbed that robe that has gained a lot of attention.

He then crossed his arms, he seemed rather distrusting of the boy. Anabel was curious, wondering who exactly he was. "Who do you think that is, Fionnlagh?" Anabel wondered.

"Whoever he is, he seems like trouble." responded the god.

Anabel turned towards her commander. "Really?" she replied, almost in a disagreement. "I don't know... he seems more confused than anything."

Fionnlagh couldn't help but to carefully read the young man, worried he might be a threat. Anabel couldn't help but to feel that he doesn't at all seem like a problem. She stood up from her chair, looking at Fionnlagh. "I'm going to go talk to him," she stated. She then began walking away from Fionnlagh, who seemed bothered by her actions.

She approached the young man, presenting him with a smile. The dark robed young man quickly noticed her coming, his mind rushing with the attempts to piece together things to say. She stood in front of him, close enough so that she could hear him in this loudly spoke jungle. She leaned forward, bowing to the young man. "Greetings," she said, trying to establish conversation. She rose back up, standing straight up once again. "my name is Anabel. And I welcome you to the Bemused Buzzard."

The young man looked at the woman. She seemed to be about his age. And there was something about her that appeared before the young man. It was like trying to squeeze a bedframe through a very small doorway, this strange feeling that he couldn't quite fit into place. He suspiciously felt like he could trust her, like she wasn't an enemy to him.

Letting go of his fear, he plunged into the conversation. "Th-thanks," he stuttered, his voice very shy. It was the only thing he could think to say to her.

"Is there anything I can do to help you?" she asked curiously.

The young man had to summon enough of himself to ask it. He knew it would sound too blunt, but he couldn't think of much else to say. "I-I was wondering..." he continued. "...i-if you know about the—"
