Really minor delay by like a day or two coming up. Don't worry, it's not going to be a whole week. I'll get it up around Monday/Tuesday-ish.

I apologize for the delay.

Sorry for the delay. Here it is. ;D

Chapter 4: Ascendance

As their master faced his death, the group of the Lumbridge Resistance acknowledged their master's sacrifice. The last thing they remember was of the thought of their master ensuring their safety and a sense of helpless to stop him from giving himself away. The courtyard in front of a great gray stone brink castle was lightly guarded by two soldiers who were encased in iron armour.

Their heads all the way down to the tips of their toes were covered by this iron armour that seemed like it was made from an expert smith. They carried spears and halberds made of the same material as their armour which also showed superior craftsmanship. They were firm and tall on their feet, ready to take on the world at a moment's call.

The courtyard was almost entirely surrounded by drapes of stone, two fountains stood in the center left and right of the courtyard. They looked like the eyes of the ground if seen from above. A stone brink pathway entered into the mouth of the stone castle of Lumbridge. The rest of the land was consumed by emerald green grass.

Outside of the courtyard lived the independent people of Lumbridge, the ones who lived without the thumb of the gods crushing them. A small little city of stone-brink buildings and wooden buildings line the pathway. But deep within these people there is something lost. A parent, a friend, or a child, each person of this small city has given up something in order to live this way.

It was a light sound that took control of the marketplace that wasn't nearly the size of Governanti's market district. The pounding of metal and the chatter of people was mildly light but it wasn't nearly as loud as the capital's. It was right at the edge of the River Lum. The marketplace was roughly eighty-yards long and it was caped in stalls and small businesses.

Even so, it was enough of the human locals. Inside the courtyard of the Lumbridge Castle, the guards began to notice the middle of the courtyard getting brighter. And it started to turn purple. The soldiers realized exactly what this meant, they began to prepare their spears and halberds for the attack. Raphael, Elena, Uriel, and Fionnlagh then suddenly appeared behind a great purple light.

The purple light disappears as quickly as it appeared. The guards saw the four and were relieved to see their safe return. But as their eyes gaze into detail, they saw the horrific injuries that they had sustained. They stood appalled at the sight of the people that appeared before them. Raphael held onto his left thigh, growling in pain as an intense grimace masked his face.

Elena grabs Raphael's right arm and throws it around her neck. She then slowly began to pull him up to his feet. She struggled of course due to her weakness and loss of blood. One of the soldiers ran as quickly as lightning over to the two. He throws Raphael's left arm around his neck and began to help Elena pick Raphael up onto his feet.

The guard turned his head over to the young archer, he wore an iron spangenhelm with nasal and cheek flaps. His face was blown up with concern and fear as he then realized that their master was not with the four. "What has happened?" asked the soldier, his voice was fogged by the same worry as his face. "Where is Lord Malik?"

Elena and the man began walking forward in a frantic pace. "He's gone, Adil," she quickly answered, her voice weak and constricted by pain. "They were expecting us and they completely overpowered us. We were chained up and Master Malik was receiving words from Balor...then he teleported us out without himself."

Adil had a look on his face as if he couldn't fathom exactly what Malik's action has done to the resistance. "He..." softly mumbled Adil. "...Sacrificed himself?"

Elena drew in breath into her lungs, releasing it back into the the air. "Yes..." she softly answered.

Adil turned his head towards the pathway in front of him. They approached the giant wooden double doors of the castle. "We can't allow this to go out to the people," he believed. "If we do, it will break them."

Elena shook her head. "No," she responded with speed. "We can't just leave the people ignorant." The courtyard was as silent as the night. Uriel glared at the back of Raphael, his turquoise irises lost in thought. Fionnlagh turned to the boy, he then acknowledged Uriel's presence was lost due to his mind being taken by thought.

Uriel then began to follow behind his sister and Raphael. Even with the wound to his back, he showed no pain. His face was blank but his eyes were the complete opposite. Uriel was quiet as he entered the castle, no soldier even attempted to try to talk to him. Fionnlagh watched the boy walk away, he seemed generally concerned.

The white knight then turned to the other soldiers. "Don't leave your posts," he commanded. He then walked with haste into the castle. His hands clenched tightly onto the handle of the door, pulling it open. He then walked with quickness into the castle. He closed the door behind him.

Elena and Adil entered the medical wing with Raphael in their hold. They pushed open a wooden door and walk into the room. They walked into the long room of light gray stone brink walls and smooth stone floors. It was a room with four beds that filled each side of the room, blood stained much of the stone.

There were very few wounded soldiers, four at most. And even their injuries weren't horribly severe. The women in charge of the medical wing turned their heads towards the door once they heard it open and close. Then their eyes looked upon the wounded and suffering. They swiftly made their way to the three.

Elena and Adil walked Raphael over to the nearest bed as the women came over. The two then very sluggishly laid the silver haired young man down upon the cushioned bed. Raphael grunted as he felt the cotton met his skin. The women arrived and turned their care to Raphael. But one looked at Elena who was wounded as well.

Her left arm was covered in blood as a tight grimace grabs her face. One of the women look at Elena's arm and was utterly shocked by the sight of it. She was an older man compared to the others which were more younger. She seemed to be at least in her 60's. "Dear gods," muttered the women that looked upon Elena. She walked over in front of Elena and began looking at her left arm. "Elena, what has happened?"

"Rada," said Elena. "Whatever you do, just make sure Raphael is all right, okay? Don't worry about me."

"But dear-" spoke Rada with worry.

Elena shook her head. "I know," she stated, interrupting Rada. She clenching her right hand onto the top of her left shoulder. "Uriel is hurt too. I just need you to make sure that everybody else is all right, okay?"

Rada saw that Elena was serious about it. Rada shook her head, acknowledging her desire. Rada then turned to Raphael and began walking the bed. "How is he?" she asked one of the nurses in front of her.

The woman that Rada spoke to turned her head towards the old woman. "His left leg seems to be badly broken," she calmly stated. "That seems to be the link to his affliction, ma'am."

Rada shook her head. "All right," acknowledged the old woman. She turned her head back over to Elena. "Where is Uriel?"

The two then heard the door into the room open up, their heads are attracted to the sound like fire to fuel. Uriel appeared behind the door, his eyes looking as fierce and angry as ever. "Here," he stated, lingering in the doorway. "I don't really need anything, it's just a minor flesh wound."

Rada began walking towards Uriel. "Well, even so," she calmly replied.

Uriel drew in breath into his body, letting go of it in a hard sigh. "Fine," he growled, his voice sounded irritated. He then began walking into the room. "You should be looking at my sister but I can probably guess why you aren't."

Rada began walking next to Uriel, mirroring the exact timing of each of his steps. "You would probably guess right," she responded. Uriel sat down on the edge of a bed, one just three beds away from Raphael. He was on the east side of the room, Raphael was to the south. Rada began looking at Uriel's wound to his back.

Elena walked towards a window that was on the western wall. The morning sun shined into the glass, it glittered like stars in the night sky. She froze just in front of the window, her pale blue irises gazed out to the world. Her face looked as normal as it ever could but deep within she was lost. She had a deep sense of remorse, her right hand then tightly clenched onto her left shoulder.

Uriel looked at his sister's back, appearing almost like a silhouette due to the light. He realized just what she was feeling and then he himself began to feel the effects of just what had happened just a few minutes ago. An incomprehensible situation that ended in a decision that has affected everything the rebellion has ever known.

Uriel closed his eyes and his head bowed down, his face looking down upon the stone floor. Elena was at the same point as Uriel, her eyes wandered lost out into the sky blue ceiling that topped the world. An uncertainty, a fear of everything now lingered in her head. She knew with the death of their leader...everything was going to change.

A week has passed since that day at the Imperial Palace of Governanti, since the prince became the king. It was around the afternoon, exactly one-o'clock. The color of gray bled into the sky, creating an atmosphere of cool air and chilling winds. The temperature was standing at forty-nine degrees Fahrenheit. The winds blew at anything outside at the speed of fifteen miles an hour.

There was not a soul that would make the expedition out into the rather cold day. The only life that was spotted outside the warmth of the indoors was the guards who have sworn to protect with everything they have. They stood straight and tall, their weapons held firmly in their hands. They were unshaken despite a blow of unseasonable cold air passing by them.

Inside the castle of the Lumbridge Resistance and inside the room of the medical wing, the nurses were utterly dumbfounded. Raphael, despite his left femur being shattered, was actually standing on his feet. They all looked amazed, even flabbergasted. Elena was sitting on the edge of a bed just beside Raphael's, the upper portion of her entire left arm was wrapped up in bandages that were bloody.

Elena had a smile on her face as she watched Raphael actually be on his feet again. Raphael looked over to the young black-haired woman who looked at him with a smile. To return the favor, he smiled back at her. Rada approached Raphael with an astonished mask clenched to her face. "It's only been a week," she stated with shock. "And you're already on your feet as if you didn't break your leg at all."

Raphael seemed amazed himself, unable to explain exactly what the answer was to this. "I know," the silver haired young man responded. "It doesn't even hurt."

Elena stood up on her feet, still looking onto Raphael. Inside, she herself was surprised at Raphael's swift recovery. But it did bring a sense of question to Elena. Nevertheless, she kept it to herself. "I'm really happy to see you up again," Elena stated, walking over to Raphael.

Raphael's head followed Elena. "So am I," he agreed, he reached his left leg towards the ground in front of him as he began to walk forward.

"Raphael," called Elena as the voice of joy was stripped away. Her smile went down as quickly as the week passed. Underneath her newly found face was a voice that demanded Raphael's utmost seriousness. "Now that you're on your feet, could you follow me please? We need to discuss something."

"Discuss something?" questioned Raphael, an eyebrow rose to the top of his forehead. "What exactly?"

Elena turned towards the door out into the long hallways of the Castle Lumbridge. "It's regarding the leadership of the resistance." she quickly answered, turning her head back to look back at Raphael.

Raphael's ears took in the sentence and his mind took in the meaning of it. The absolute significance of it. He shook his head, acknowledging the purpose and ready for whatever may come. He began walking towards the same door that Elena headed towards. As he began walking towards the door, he turned his head towards the women he left behind.

With a smile on his face, he pulled his left hand up the side of his face and began waving it. His purple irises looked upon the obvious woman in charge, Rada. "Thank you so much, ma'am," he gratefully thanked. Elena latched her right hand onto the handle of the door, pulling it open as she does. She and Raphael exited the medical wing as quickly albeit more calmly as they came into it.

Elena closed the door behind her, a soft thud popped into the air as it closed. Raphael kept looking at Elena without a word coming from him, his silence kept the whole world at a standstill. Elena began walking to her right, walking deeper into the castle. Raphael quietly followed behind her, keeping his questions to himself until they reach an area of more privacy.

The walls of the gray stone-brink hallway were covered by the familiar banners of purple. The two continued to walk forward at a steady pace. Raphael noticed that Elena seemed to be leading him towards a large double doors at the end of the hallway. The double doors had smaller banners of the purple dragon on it. Torches stood at the left and right sides of the door. "So," softly mumbled Raphael. "How's your arm been?"

"Fine," she answered him. "I can move it again at least." As their footsteps softly thud against the purple carpet, they became closer and closer to the door.

Raphael smiled lightly. "That's good," he happily responded. The two finally managed to stand at the front of the double doors. Elena tightly clenched her right hand around the doorknob that was made of smooth dragonstone, twisting it to the right. She then pushed it open, revealing a large room of stone brink walls.

The floors were made of a polished wood with a purple silk rug in the center of the room. In the center of the rug was the symbol of the rebellion, the front view of the face of a dragon. Bookcases which held onto books of many kinds took over much of the wall space. Banners of the resistance took up the rest of the wall space. To the eastern wall was a large window about the size of two large drawers.

The window looked like they belonged in a church. They stood behind a small wooden desk that was in the center left of the room. On the desk was a quill inside of a small black ink bottle. In the center of the desk was a small sheet of paper. Elena walked into the room, Raphael followed behind her. Their footsteps walked across the marble floor, a echoing tap popped into the air with each step.

The young man closed the door behind him, he was ready to hear exactly what the young female archer had to say. "So," Raphael spoke as his hand remained glued to the dragonstone hand on the door. "What do you need to discuss?"
