An angel on his left shoulder to the devil on his right, whispering and arguing words of their own. It was a conflict he was not prepared for, but was nevertheless willing to fight. To massacre an entire race of people, some of them not at all being involved with the generalized face that made them so notorious. Truly, Raphael couldn't see the plans of attacking Governanti to work.

...Was their only solution this then, a great evil meant only to conquer a greater evil? Could he even begin to call this justifiable?

His ears could hear as the voices from the light became restless, irritably grumbling as they awaited word from Raphael. In this moment, the young man's heart began to sway. It was strange, Raphael took notice. He knew in his heart what he believed to be right, his lips quivering to speak it, to let it out. But something held him back, something made him pause and second-guess that which he knew to be right.

That devil on his shoulder whispered in his ear with such a sweet voice, and the more it talked, the more Raphael listened. The young man felt it draw him out, felt it as it tempted him to the other way. It was the oddest feeling, to know what it is right but not lean that way. He heard weird whispers he couldn't quite understand as he went down that path, knowing now what he had to do.

"...an' what?" Raphael could hear as Calvin's voice perforate the surface of his thoughts. "If ya think killin' 'em is a good thing, then ya ain't got no business 'n dis conversation."

"Why?" asked Shinon. "If my opinion is invalid, then so are all of yours. You and your silly laws to your little made-up goddess clearly make your opinions biased."

"Oh, dat's a load-a—"

"— Enough, " Raphael finally yelled, ceasing all attempts to strike back and counter. He had reached his boiling point, his eyes glaring angrily down at the floor. "This was never your decision to make or discuss. If I wanted your opinions, I had asked for them."

What a thing to say, Telvern noticing that very uncharacteristic response. Surely such a harsh way of putting it could be justified, given the situation Raphael has been placed under. But still, the genius couldn't help to but become a little concerned over the young man. Telvern's eyes slowly gravitate towards the young man, feeling as he believed that Raphael had come to a decision.

Calvin's pale blue eyes catapulted over Raphael, and he could just feel the seriousness of the assassin's glare fall upon him like the blazing sun, an intensity hard to match. Calvin got the wrong rub from Raphael's reply, almost like he knew exactly what this train's final destination was going to be. He scoffed, angrily turning his head away.

Shinon simply shrugged his shoulders, not really caring much in regards to Raphael's words. He turned his head away, leaning his back against the wall once more. He released his tension from his duel with Calvin, letting out a heavy sigh. Now all he wanted to know was what Raphael had to say, hoping that he makes the right decision.

Telvern's steely, callous brown eyes drew closer to Raphael, watching as the young man lifted his head ever so slowly. He was there, clenching his hands tightly and strongly like showing that there was the existence of a soul in him. It was proof that there was still a heartbeat in him, perhaps the first real show of vitality in Raphael since the destruction of Lumbridge.

Dauntless like a spartan charging headstrong into the fray, Raphael's eyes dashed forward. He stood there before the glowing light that eagerly watched this play out before them, seeing for themselves that Raphael reached a decision. His purple eyes laid down upon the throbbing incandescence, arming his voice to the tee to speak his mind. "...I'll do it," he responded to the light's offer, accepting their task.

The reaction to Raphael's words depended on who was asked, it was an extremely mixed bag. The archer's reaction was that of elation, causing him to raise his hands into the air. "Finally, someone with some sense," he gleefully celebrated with a grin.

Telvern seemed almost unsettled, worried over his nephew's decision. "Are you absolutely sure about this, Raphael?" the genius asked in a voice that quietly spoke a cautious feeling. "It doesn't have to go down this path. If we just thought about it, surely we could draw up a better plan than this."

Raphael looked over at Telvern, who stood just a few feet from him. The young man's eyes peer into Telvern's eyes, the two were able to get a strong feel for each other. "I said I'm doing it, so I'm doing it," he boldly asserted. "I'm done waiting around and just thinking, it's time for action."

The genius let out a mournful sigh, showing that he truly did disagree with the path that Raphael had chosen. "Very well," he acknowledged with a soft voice. "If this is what you think right, I will support you to the best of my ability."

Though it was a strange, unexpected turn of events, Telvern stood at Raphael's side nevertheless. Raphael confidently shook his head, appearing somewhat happy to hear that Telvern stood loyally beside him. Of course the young man hadn't forgotten all that the genius had done in his past, but he was all Raphael had left in this twisted life.

He then looked back up at the light, his eyes with the courage of fearlessly dancing in the face of death. "You must draw us in," the voices informed him. "Concentrate, focus... Feel as our energy swirls around this place, feel it flow around you. Open yourself to it, allow it in, take from it like fish from a stream."

The young man took all the advice that the light imparted him, easing up on the tension and angst that his body had begun to feel. He let go of that taut feeling like loose baggage, knowing that it would only weigh him down. He closed his eyes, finding a rhyme that he followed like the pounding in his chest.

He got into a firm stance, lowering his head, thinking of what they told him. Something made him feel like he had to make a certain position, causing his arms to span out to his sides. They rose to about the height of his lower abdomen, bending up slightly. The group waited, standing off in the back as they watched Raphael give the utmost concentration.

He did as he was told, his skin becoming ultra-sensitive to the charged feeling that stirred in the air. Like invisible currents passing with electricity, the air constantly shifting with this energy. His mind called them to him, conjuring their presence. The very hairs on Raphael's body rose in this reaction, feeling as the power within this room pulse through his body.

The light that called itself the Elder Gods grew in intensity, becoming a vibrant light. Everyone had to block that light with their hands for a moment before their eyes adjusted, feeling that static, oppressive air lift off of their bodies. A pillar of a mixture of teal blue and pale purple light stood erect from where the ball of light floated, a subtle but constant rush of energy.

A few seconds after this pillar of light appeared, strange wisps of light began pouring out from it. They were light blue in color, but did have a little purple to them. They were ethereal in appearance, small little orbs of light that were like the flame of a torch. They silently hovered around in the air, lingering there for a moment.

It was like being encircled by a galaxy of stars, many wisps hung and traveled well around this place. But the offspring began to meet a premature end, Raphael the catalyst that would forever alter their lives. One-by-one, from the earliest to come to the latest, those wisps of light began flowing into Raphael. They moved towards the young man, passing into him like his body were the door into a room.

They passed into him, his body softly shook and hummed with the strange power. He felt it course through him, like those wisps of energy pouring into him broke into an immeasurable amount of pieces and attached themselves to every cell that made him. A faint aura of light appeared around him, fitting itself to the contours of his body.

It took some time, but the final wisp entered the silver-haired young man. When the dust settled, when all was finished, his body was left resonating with a strange glow. The pillar of light lowering back into the ground, disappearing as though never there to begin with. The ball of light that made the seemingly almighty beings faded significantly, the room growing much darker as a result.

Raphael just stood there in silence, completely still and unmoving as though he were frozen in time. Several seconds, then a whole minute passed, and still Raphael did not make a sound, didn't even so much as draw breath. With each second of silence did a churning in Telvern's stomach intensify, something about this whole thing bothering him deeply.

"Uh..." spoke Calvin, rubbing the back of his head. "...Heya, uh, ya all right?"

In Raphael's mind laid nothingness, there was not a desire at all. Not one to move, not one to speak, not even one to breathe. He stood there like an empty shell, but there was something off in the distant of his mind... Faint echoes of a voice called to him, beckoning for his attention. "You are our weapon," a man with a gruff voice told him. "You've no thoughts of your own, no opinions, no feelings, no desires for anything. You are nothing, you are ours to use as we see fit. When we tell you to strike, you will do so without question, without thought, without word, and without resistance."

"And as like any weapon, you require a test," another voice went on, the voice sounding like it belonged to an older man. "If you look behind you, we've prepared quite an excellent selection of targets for you to play with."

The sheathes over Raphael's eyes finally pulled apart, his body slowly loosening up. His eyes opened, revealing something stirred a change in him. His eyes were no longer like how they normally were, they were entirely a brilliant blue, appearing like aquamarines. They emitted light, a bright, spellbinding glow that caught anyone's eye. His stare as blank as an empty sheet of paper, yet his face was ravaged with tension.

It was then that the air began to shift, boding an ill and heavy feeling. Something truly nefarious was upon the horizon, just along the pathway...

Meanwhile, back within the realm known as Gielinor and within the hold of the Desert Assassins, the assassins did as they usually did. They were within the central room, standing amongst the ruins and swaying palm trees, praising the name of their goddess before the feet of a statue bearing her image. Daevarro was tucked away in his own shell, seating at a table, his hazel eyes glued to the pages of a book.

But something began to brew, but not in this place, down below. Far below the statues and the streams, passed the stairs heading into its body. The underground, ancient section of the base, the one with the hive-shaped buildings adorned with numbers. The sound of water falling down and disappearing into another body of water still repeating infinitely, the world as still as ever.

But there was some motion, motion that broke the death-like hold upon this place. It came from that place labeled with the number twenty-three, a place that used to house a wonderful family before it too slowly wilted, slowly surrendered to the taker of all. Its worn out stone used to house so many things, but now it merely was a shell that housed nothing but memories of the past.

Residing inside of its hollow heart was a woman, one with a familiar face. It was Libitina, a person who had clearly seen better days. Her ailing, weakened body tossing and turning in the sheets stained with her sweat, her voice mumbling undecipherable garble. Libitina's haggard breath the only thing she could hear, her mind blighted with painful images that she couldn't understand.

Once more, the constant feeling of her world being pulled off to her right bothered her. She tried to ignore it, tried to push it off, tried to focus on getting well... But she couldn't, she couldn't help herself, whipping the sheets off of her body. She very sluggishly rose out from her crypt, the cotton earth that bounded her.

Her exhausted body shook as it had to exert the strength to follow its master's command, her elbows buckling under her weight. It took quite a deal of effort and there were many times where her body nearly gave out, but she managed to sit up. Her hood was down, revealing her black, long hair and deathly pale skin. The scarf around her neck, her gloves, her brigandine were removed, her cassock free from the buttons and opened up.

The ill assassin's lightless crimson red eyes drawn off to her right, her consciousness feeling as something beckoned for her attention. "I can feel it..." she mumbled weakly. At this moment, her body began to pick itself up. She wanted to get out of bed, wanted to be free from this ball-and-chain. "...I must... must have it... I need it... I must... have it..."

Libitina became animated, attempting with great desire to get to her feet. She swung her legs to her left, her feet hanging and then landing down upon the stone earth below her. She planted all of her weight down upon her legs, slowly rising up to her feet. Her legs quivering under the burden, her knees shaking side-to-side like they were saying "no."

Gravity pushing her down, causing her to falter. She paused a few times, her body drained, but she still carried on. She pushed through the taxation, and it would pay off. Somehow, albeit quite the struggle, she managed to stand up on her own two feet again. Her eyes scrolled over to the doorway, her back hunched over, her breath heavy and harsh.

She took one slow step forward, her boot slamming against the floor rather strongly. Libitina tried to move forward afterwards, confident. But it seemed her right foot was replaced with a left foot, staggering around off-balanced as if the world were spinning around her. A table to her left was perfectly in the wrong place, her body stumbling into it.

She crashed into it, sending forsaken dinner plates tumbling downwards. They were smashed into pieces all around the place, a very similar case for Libitina's life. Her great effort was in vain, having dropped down upon her knees beside this table. Her shoulder having rammed into the rim of the table, flipping it on its side. She was unwound, her mind wanting to go, but her body crippled and meek.

Her legs wouldn't even move an inch anymore, despite its commander's orders. The supply and demand of oxygen was alarming, her head feeling lighter than the air she drew in. She just sat there, incapable of moving, incapable of doing anything, a slave to herself. That tug of her consciousness gnawed at her, she wanted more than anything just to stand up.

Strands of her ebony hair pulled down upon her face, she looked away from her so hopelessly. So much did she wish for, so much did she want. "No..." she painfully cried, gripping her teeth in frustration. Her right hand then slowly crept out before her, clawing into the ground before her. "I... must... have it."

Even if the effort to get to it must be carried by her fingers, even if she had to rely on her nails so much that they're reduced to nothing but bloody stubs, she had to get there. Her teeth so fastened together in self-anger that they could crack, she dragged her body onward. To her dismay, even such effort was in vain, her arms as weak as spaghetti, unable to perform even the basics.

But before her inevitable defeat could crush her, could leave her in such despair, her ears caught a sound, finally a sound outside of her own struggle. She felt a change in the air, stirring this cauldron with its chilling yet warming hand. A tender, loving body of air skirted by her, brushing across her hair.

Libitina looked off to where she felt that air, quickly twisting her head off to her right. "... Lami ?" her tired voice muttered out loud as though there were another person in the room.

Her voice then froze, paused and trying to make no sound. It appeared like she were listening to something, something that was extremely important to her. It spoke to her in strange, deep sounds repeatedly murmuring all around her, sounding like the distorted chirping of birds.

Her head then sluggishly nodded, agreeing to whatever it was that she intently lent her ear to. "Yes, of course..." Libitina spoke, her voice adamant. "...Anything you need."

After her lips cease all action, her eyelids fell down over her crimson red irises. Her body eased up, her head lowering humbly and respectfully. She sat there, looking serene and relaxed for the first time in perhaps a very long time. She stood there in her state of peace for another couple of seconds, then her eyes opened back up once more.

She rose to her feet unhindered, something about her was... different. She pushed out one breath of life, pouring out like mist as if the air were frigid as the Winter. But the air was fairly warm, humid. Then she took another, taking on the same appearance.

There was this different look in her eyes, a stern look to them. It was not like Libitina's usually emotionless, apathetic appearance, there was something far more to it now. Her lush, stoic, vermilion irises turned forward, boldly going forward without falter, without pain.

Her step looked as though she was on a mission, one that she held with utmost importance. The way she held herself as she walked, powerful, imposing, but there was a haste there. She knew she had no time to waste, feeling that pull on her consciousness call to her. She headed off in that direction, readying herself for what might be.
