Lucien struggled, and kept firing spells at Gregory. Gregory easily countered Lucien’s spells with spells of his own, and continued to exert on Lucien’s mind while slowly moving close to Lucien, intending to grab the Staff of Armadyl. But Lucien, although weakened and distracted, was not at all vulnerable. He charged past Gregory, shooting barrage after barrage of spells, and touched the Stone once more. Then he suddenly wrenched control of his mind back from Gregory, and said,
“You cannot defeat me. I have both the Staff and the Stone, and you cannot destroy me while I have access to both. Now I will tell you how insignificant you truly are. You think you obtained all that power by yourself, don’t you? No. I gave you the power and ability to gain all of your powers, from air, to fire, to water, to earth, and then all the way to the ability to hypnotize other living things.
You did not learn the powers yourself, but I gave you the potential and the ability to do so. The author of that little story you read in the Varrock palace? Yes they discovered True Magick themselves. But they learned through the help and guidance of Guthix, and so you learned through the help and guidance of me. If I had not been there on that night that your family was murdered, you would have been killed, for I was dulling the minds of your assailants. But now I have realized you are not truly useful. So therefore... Die.” He cast massive spell at Gregory, and Gregory fell down with pain and exhaustion. He wanted to drag himself back to the Stone and replenish his power, but he couldn’t. And he felt his mind falling into darkness.
