The monster did not understand what Azzanadra meant until he heard another clap of thunder from overhead. 'The storm!' it exclaimed, and Azzanadra smiled.
"Game over," he said, and the storm unleashed its fury upon the creature. The enemy raised its arms a split second before the lightning rained from the cloud upon it. It struggled to repel the lightning with his telepathic defenses, but it appeared to be having success. The lightning hit a certain point above the creature and it split, sending jagged forks of lightning in all directions around it.
Azzanadra followed up on his attack as though it had been his plan all along. While the enemy was too focused repelling Azzanadra's monstrous attack, he slipped into its area, his hand shining with electrical intensity as he approached. The enemy only had time to lower its head to watch Azzanadra drive a dagger of energy into its chest. Azzanadra's attack tore through internal organs that he couldn't recognize, tearing the enemy apart. When it was over, the creature fell to the ground, dead.
Sliske immediately stopped thrashing around in pain, and Zaros and Azzanadra went over to help him up. Sliske rubbed his forehead. "Thanks, Azzanadra," he muttered with a grimace. That thing's attack was relentless."
"Well, it's over now," Zaros said. "We've only been in this region for a day and already we've been attacked! I wonder what these things are?"
"The creature called this the land of Xinadi," Azzanadra recalled. "Perhaps that is the name of its race."
'Correct, outsider,' came another telepathic voice. This one was booming, more forceful than the last, and it resounded through their heads longer than most.
They all turned to look at the crest of a nearby hill, and on top of it stood another of the Xinadi. It was much taller than the last, but it bore the same gray concentric rings around his head. This one wore a long black cloak over a black tunic and pants, all with gold trim.
"Not another one!"
