At Forlirn's warning Rhen did as he was told and closed his eyes. He knew asking how they would fight such creatures without sight was a stupid question as he already knew the answer. With his eyes closed Rhen allowed his other scenses to counteract his lost sight. Years of training would pay off in this moment. If they could actually harm the wraiths that is. Rhen did not know much about wraiths as he had never heard anything of them nor had he ever encountered them before. In this fight Rhen's knowledge would be limited as for once it was his time to learn and listen rather than to speak and be heard.

"I take it these are the least of our worries here in the ruins. For the way you spoke earlier I am begining the think that there are most likely worse things than wraiths here." Rhen whispered to Forlirn as calmly as he could in the situation.

When Forlirn spoke, Matt began to laugh. "Shutting your eyes from the truth will not prevent it Forlirn. This place desires your death, and if the desire is strong enough, it shall have it. I shall shut my eyes, but only because you would force me to do so anyway. Hah, but the darkness and the voices shall have your body and your mind eventually. Just as they shall have the body and soul of everyone here. I am the only one who can see it. The rest are ignorant to their fate." Matt then shut his eyes*

***;You are a funny one green reptile that tries to speak over the voices! Alas, you are weak compared to them. You speak in lies. You say I am a mighty warrior. I am no such thing. I WAS a mighty warrior. Did you hear the difference? I said that I was, not that I am! I know who I am anyway! My name was Matthew and I was a slayer. I don't know why I quit. It was a good job. Now I am following a group of soon to be dead people for some reason. I should have thought that over better. Oh well. They say everyone must die anyway so there is no reason for me to worry*****;

Litis travelled for a few more minutes before he finally saw a mountain that was coloured pink instead of the traditional grey and white. He smirked and landed near the giant dragon. "Well, if it isn't my dear sister Anima!" He said sarcastically. "It has been far too long. You are still wasting away in these mountains I see. I can't say that I am surprised. So tell me, how has fate treated you and your little pets?"

Forlirn let out a quiet growl, but otherwise ignored Matthew, deciding now wasn't the most prudent time to argue. "Place your hand on my tail and follow slowly... They will not follow us outside. We cannot fight against them on Neuva, but they cannot harm us if we cannot see them. They are little compared to what else lurks here..."

<Matthew, you are not a tool of the voice. Do not let them control you. They seek your destruction, and nothing more! Why would you give yourself over to them? Rule yourself! Do not be ruled!>

Soul slowly raised her great head, regarding Litis silently for many long moments. Her look was not hostile, though she clearly was not joyful to see the other ancient. "What have you journeyed out here for, brother? You have no interest in my children, beyond devising machinations to turn them against one another."

Rhen nodded as he reached out into the darkness and placed his hand on Forlirn's tail. For once, Rhen did not feel helpless in this situation as everyone was having the same issue. Although it looked grim that fact comforted Rhen somewhat as on Nueva he was pretty much useless without his control of the void.

"Brother Bellum what a pleasant surprise it is to see you. You have kept me very busy with the last human dragon war you started on Elune. Your mess is just now starting to clear itself up. But although I am usually somewhat happy to see you brother I must agree with Anima this time. What does bring you this far north? Not a social visit I must guess as you are hardly one to just sit down and talk." said Nex

The voices continued their assault on the last bastion of Matthew's sanity. He heard what he was saying, and was disgusted with himself. What he meant to say and what he actually did say were often two entirely different things. *What is wrong with me? I am a warrior! Yet despite this, I am allowing myself to fall pray to these abominations! I am stronger than this. I WILL overcome and rid my mind of this filth.~ Then he launched what can best be described as a mental counter-attack against the voices in his mind. Using his willpower, he slowly began to clear his mind. Finally things began to make sense again. Two and two were not five anymore, but four. He sighed as he finally regained his mind.

"I am sorry Forlirn." Matt whispered. "I lost myself there for a moment. I did not mean any of what I said." Matt then held his hand out and reached around randomly until he found Forlirn's tail, which he firmly grasped**

***;I... You are right Caelidorus. I became their puppet, and because of that, I am ashamed. Thank you for continuing to try and regain my sanity. You are a good friend, better then one like me deserves****;

Litis allowed for a small smile to escape from his otherwise neutral expression. "Well, I must say I am surprised Nex. I had not expected to see you here. I must admit that that last conflict in Elune surprised even me. Quite bloody and, if I might say, entertaining. But enough small talk. I think both of you know why I am here. I am concerned about our brother, Nihil. I suspect he is preparing to invade these worlds, possibly within a matter of days. I was wondering if either one of you were aware of any plans to counter him. I myself have been preparing the mortal armies of this world for war. They think it is against one another of course, but they will quickly switch their focus to Nihil should we be unable to stop him in time. Other then that... well, my pets and I are always ready for a good fight." Litis said.

"Do not worry yourself Matt." said Rhen. "I almost lost myself as well. But we can talk about this later......for now we need to focus on the issue at hand. Remember that there are worse things in these ruins than voices and wraiths. Keep your wits about you and we should be fine."

---------------------------------------------------------------------

"Aye. I have given some thought to what to do about our brother. But i have also thought, and I have shared this with Anima as well........this is all to complex for Nihil. He is smart but some of the things that are happening in the worlds is beyond even our brother. I fear that our brother may only be a pawn of 'Him'." said Nex with a slight nod. "But returning to your question......with the last war you started the number of corpses that have come under my care have risen quite high. I saw that I now have enough for 13 legions of human wrights and another 2 legions of dragon wrights under my command. But that is only in my lair in the catacombs. i have other places in which, totaled together is 13 armies of wrights. But i can only raise one army at a time unless I find an amplifier to increase my power significantly. Also I have yet to raise them yet but if it comes to it I can raise them and have a whole army to use against Nihil. More if I find an amplifier which is unlikely. Unless...........I will have to look into something.......If i am right I will not need the amplifier. But I will need your help Anima if it comes down to what I am thinking."

Forlirn grunted softly, but otherwise did not reply, carefully leading the group through the darkness to the outside of the ruined building. Perhaps moments later, perhaps minutes, Forlirn spoke again; it was hard to tell when everything was dark and one's mind was being assaulted by the shrieking of the voices.
"We are outside. It's safe to open your eyes."

<Do not worry about it. Focus on keeping your mental guard up. They will take you again if you give them a chance, and it's quite easy to give them that chance****;

The voices gave a great, angry shriek at the loss of their puppet before suddenly growing quiet, dropping to a nearly imperceptible whisper once again.

"We can speculate much, but it is difficult to be certain with brother Nihil," Soul replied with a soft sigh. "He has likely been planning an attack since his imprisonment within the Abyss... but as brother Nex suggests, He could also be involved. My concern is the nature of his attack. If Nihil manages to enter the world, we shall need a method of combating him, for we cannot harm one of our own, not if the elders spoke truthfully. I have received no word from any of the elders of late. Even brother Vates has grown curiously secluded in the Elunian wastes."

Matt opened his eyes and let go of Forlirn's tail. He wordlessly examined his surroundings. As he was doing this, he dropped his speed until he was walking beside Caelidorus again. He put his hand on Caelidorus's neck and began to slowly pet him. The action felt comforting and brought him back to when he was a child, when he would do the same thing to his family dog during times of great stress*

***;I will try as hard as I can. I can only hope that I will not be taken by some other mysterious power that exists in these ruins. I get the feeling that if whatever lays within these ruins wants to drive any of us insane, they can easily do so. I just hope that the two of us remain fine****;

"Hmm... I think that you may be correct Brother Nex." Litis said as he tilted his head in thought. "This all seems to be too... perfect. Yes, it does seem like something that He would be involved in. I would get your armies of wrights ready as soon as you can. I doubt I need to tell you that I would be careful when using them however. Mortals tend to be.... sensitive when it comes to their dead. They would likely view you as an enemy. This is important because I believe that the mortal armies may be the best way to defeat Nihil. When they feel that their very existence or way of life is at stake, they will throw themselves at an enemy by the thousands until either their enemy or their army lies dead. Perhaps we will have to clear a path to Nihil for them and have their armies strike the final blow." Litis then sighed. "I cannot believe I am about to say this, but I wish that Lux was here. As much as I despise him, I think he would know what to do in this situation."

"So I take it we will no be finishing out search in the ruins with those wraith's running about? If so then what do we do now? Do we have any other leads to follow or are we just going to sit and wait everything out?" said Rhen after opening his eyes and looking to Forlirn.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You need not worry about the mortals taking offense to me using my wrights. For the magic that I must use to raise them.....Well lets just say it takes many years for the spells to anchor themselves properly so that I may actually use the corpses as wrights. The ones that I can raise......they have been sitting for several hundred years so I doubt any of what might remain of their kin should care. But I do see some wisdom to your warning brother and I shall consider it. But I shall wait till we are absolutely sure that we will need my wrights before I raise them as they take a great deal of power even for me to use. We may be ancients with power greater than the younger generation but there are some things that even press us to our limits. But if what I have been working on these past few thousand years works out I should be able to control all 13 armies without the use of a great amount of energy. But only time will tell as I have just now made some good headway into my research. But rest assured brother Bellum, when the time comes, should we need them, we shall have 13 armies of wrights under our control to combat Nihil if need be." said Nex. "Also I to worry about the elders. It has been far too long since they have been seen or hear from. I am beginning to fear the worst and the more I fear the worst the more I think He is behind this."

Forlirn blinked slowly and began walking again, his gaze fixed onward. He had simply led the others outside of the building, and apparently out of the range of the creatures he had called wraiths. The ruins stretched ahead; a rather large, palace-like structure dominated in the distance, appearing to be relatively undamaged.
"We go onward. The longer we wait, the longer this place has to break us."

Caelidorus tilted his head slightly, then gently nudged Matt with his snout*
***;Just remember, no matter what happens you are the master of your mind. As long as you can remember that, they can never beat you. Aside from that, do whatever you must to fight against them****;

"Even brother Tenebrae would be of help, if he chose to not side with Nihil," Soul said thoughtfully, gazing into the distance. "In any event, we need to locate one of the elders. They played the greatest role in his imprisonment... and Vates seems to know the most about Him. Sibling Vates could probably tell us if He is involved, if He cannot escape Vates' foresight."

((The same to you.))
