This is the adventurer’s pyre song. It could be mine... it could well be yours.

Pyre Song
by Cigam_mai - November 11, 2012
I’ve fought you many times
And carry every scar.
I limp away defeated,
While you the victor are.
Yet, in every battle
Your sadness seems to’ve grown,
As though some ancient wisdom
Has made our futures known.
But now the hands of time
Are wounding me, I know
More thoroughly and crippling
Than your most mighty blow.
This subtle foe; much worse
Has left me all but stripped
Purpose, strength, and clarity
Have from my grasp been ripped.
I bring no sword or shield
This time, I yearn to fail;
Feel the fire of your breath
Consume this foggy veil.
I see infinity;
In jet black of your eyes
I feel fire in my loins
And see vast, cloudless skies.
My boiling blood reveals
Your future is my past.
I’m thankful that in dying
I know your truth, at last.

Poetic License
By Cigam_mai - November 12, 2012
I don’t always know why
The slumbering muse awakes.
Oft, it’s hard to fathom
The twisting paths it takes.
Freed, I feel it guide me
But forced, it comes to naught;
Always takes its own path
It never can be caught.
There’s elements of truth
With archaic diction,
But much that leaves my pen:
Lies (we’ll call it fiction)!

Sometimes, I write limericks (as the muse inspires me) for clan members of TSO. Thadmeister is the latest recipient. For greatest effect, read it slowly... and with a deeply accented Viking voice.
Kristiansand is a place in Norway;
Hard to find, even harder to say.
...It’s Thadmeister’s retreat.
...Has a *** tub that’s sweet,
But it’s covered in snow until May!
What? Feeling blue because I haven’t written a limerick about you, yet? Don’t despair. Sometimes that is far better than having me distort some small kernel of truth... just because some [poetic] license allows. :P

Eternal Hate and the Final Hunt
by: lunar gorak3
With the mountains far away
giant waves hits the bay
many dead on ancient battles
their unrested hate always rattles
Though the sword is blunt
no one will waver in the hunt
the spear is long broken
but the heart will not remain unspoken
We set our sights in the front
none of us will waver in the hunt
the prey is fast and never rests
in our sorrow and tired bones it fests
The creature invincible on ancient battles
it took many hero'es head on its mantles
old magic bounded the monster to be weaken
but its name still strikes fear when spoken
Our bodies long tired as if it is dead
but vengeance and hatred pushes us ahead
our faithful legs has gathered many scars
one day we shall rest on our ancestor's star
In the battles we fought long years passed by
many of our wives and children have painfully died
dark forces arose and great men joined hands
but its corrupt aura have tainted many lands
Many brave souls have fought to protect our homes
even now centuries passed they're voices wails alone
the demons made they're way to divine holy grounds
the hell beings came riding with burning fire hounds
We held our breath for our final moments
we looked up in the blue sky for atonement
ahead, fiery death came with destructive strength
many of us knew how our lives would end....
We fought and fought with might and unity
knowing the dangers that stretched through eternity
All of us had fought in the line of man
from noble to peasant, we only had one battle plan
keep alive and slay as much as you can
and at best try to increase your life span
We fought bravely and valiantly on our final stand
and you ask if we won? trying to defend our home land?
i guess we did when there is only one enemy....
but after all these years were still chasing this evil entity!
We shall not rest our weary heads!!!
even if we are struck with pure dread!!!!
our hate will never say farewell!!!!
EVEN IF WE HAVE TO KILL HIM IN THE DEPTHS OF HELL!!!

It seemed appropriate, what with Thanksgiving approaching and all...

Food activists will hue and cry,
But I sure think it’s strange...
No matter HOW the bird is raised,
It cooks FREE upon my RANGE.

It's five-seven-five,
The poetic form, Haiku.
Instruction is free.

Hempwick, if you but add the word "they", so it reads "But they sometimes make no sense", your meter will be the correct 7 syllables (traditionally used when writing haiku in English). If you are translating from Japanese, or writing jiyuritsu haiku (free form)... nevermind. :P

My Thermos bottle
Keeps hot things hot; cold things cold.
Strange. How does it know?
