After a long hiatus, I have decided to enter the realm of poetry again. As always, the best source of inspiration is the work of another. But let me not leave without a parting gift of verse--
The rumbling of the wretched cloud
which holds the skies as grey
Is reaching houses, bold and loud,
And making night from day.
The raindrops pooling on the ground
make wisps of hope die bleakly,
And with that trembling, awful sound
The sunlight entreats meekly.
But is it not the raindrop's trade
To dim that hope's dear light?
To turn it into wretched shade
and make from day the night?

Noodle evoked some poetry from me today that I thought I’d share. The first was a rap about my success with SOF:
I be getting’ mah spins,
An another ta’ boot,
An’ ya know wit mah luck
I be scorin’ PHAT loot!
Noodle then pleaded for more (I can only assume he meant poetry), so I obliged with a limerick in his honor:
Noodle once met some cannibal men.
Lunching with him, they discovered, then…
…Though thin and quite pasty,
…He was tender and tasty.
But, ere long, they were hungry again!

For all my fellow RS players in the US:
Fourth of July
by Cigam_mai
Red-white-and-blue banners lining the streets,
Picnics that offer such wonderful treats,
Brilliant bombardments that fill the night sky;
These are the things that say: Fourth of July.
Fireworks framing Miss Liberty’s flame;
Just for the promise, in masses they came.
The tired and poor heard Liberty’s call,
Not freedom for some, but freedom for all.
Cherish your freedoms, you are without doubt
Free to move freely, and free to speak out,
Freedom to try; even sometimes to lose.
Freedom to worship; however you choose.
Though we disagree, and sometimes there’s strife,
We stand together to live a free life.
So raise up the flag, and strike up the band
Celebrate freedom across this great land!

My friend, a professional photographer, posted the following on Facebook:
“Did you see the moon tonight!!!
I was driving from Huntsville at dusk, and watched it rise,
Full and bright, slightly yellow at first,
Then shining in the clouds, commanding the evening.
Glorious accompaniment.”
Her lyrical prose, coupled with the poetic beauty of her photography, inspired the following limerick. The poem, I might add, is long overdue!
In Focus
by Cigam_mai
She’s lyrical, though doesn’t know it;
Her images certainly show it.
…Like her moon in the night;
…Undeniably bright!
The lady, methinks, is a poet.

Why didn't I see this earlier? Here's my latest poem:
~Mole Sting~

Upturned soil in which it straggled
Friday night glitter stuck by sweat
To her bloodied face, rain sodden
Mini skirt, lipstick smudges (or blood?)
Slightly washed in the dewy grass.
Stone eyes, stiff blood, sniff in mud
Repulsive smell, hunk of putrid meat
With dented claw marks upon her pale
Thighs, soft and bumpy, openly sprawled
Round the back near the bins of society.
The mound’s hair like dead abhorrent worms
And its rabble-rousing bust bulged from tears
Wiped tears, ragged doll broken beyond
Repair. Shadowy tunnel dweller disappear beyond
Despair.

Well, I didn't know this existed until now. Here's my first poem I want to share:
_______________________________________________________________
~~Dare~~
This is absolute.
To look behind the clown’s makeup,
to lure the mouse away
from the cheese with a trap.
To accompany the spirits of nighttime
on the path of totality.
To look beyond stained glass walls…
all purely deception.
Earth waves earthquakes that shake
until the rattlesnake breaks.
In this realm, we flow like theta waves,
dialed right into the circuit board walls.
Parallel lines collide and shatter on contact,
as the last eye sees better days.
Dare to face the snake’s temptation.
Dare to let the pain subside.
Dare to believe.
Dare to dare.

The Dark
by Cigam_mai
Some warriors cling so tightly
To their dim past renown;
Wear their crumbling laurel leaves
As if a royal crown.
They fancy they are leaders;
The high apex of cool.
Sad… that in reality,
It’s just themselves they fool.
So oft they claim their honors
From clans, and members, too;
Often, though, the answering
Response is only: “Who?”
