The first group of magic attacks was green, and bound the guards where they stood with an invisible force. The next group was bluish-white, and it made the guards cough, but nothing else seemed to be happening to them.
“That’s all you’re getting! Now, let me finish!” he shouted to Levantris, and then he took that brief moment to shout to Vinnin and the rest of the Black Arms, who had stood impatiently in the same spot.
“Take the Birdies, but don’t hurt them too badly! If you do, I’ll make sure you’re punished once we get back to the hideout!”
The group thought that this was a crazy order, but they followed Levantris and charged for the four Phoenix members, who were more than eager to put up a fight against them.
Irtia entered while the struggle between rivals was going on, and she simply passed the paralyzed Jipalar Guards and the fighting without a care and waited near Pa*uet, as Vinnin took Clyde and Kalron and smashed them into each other, knocking out Clyde and giving Kalron a headache that was worse than his bipolarity’* fluctuation. Odis and Rob were putting up a decent fight against the four other Black Arms, but eventually they lost and were bound tightly by the four thieves.
“Done! Now we can… what did you do?!” Paquet shouted, but Vinnin threw Clyde at him, and Clyde’s body flew through the portal as Pa*uet barely managed to dodge.
“Doesn’t matter. Let’s get out of here!” Levantris sprinted for the portal and ran through it, while Vinnin followed. Pa*uet couldn’t think straight and the Jipalar Guards finally broke free from their holds and readied their guns. Irtia walked through the portal, followed by the Black Arm members holding Odis and Rob. Pa*uet noticed that they forgot Kalron, who had been lying on the floor.

Pa*uet couldn’t think or speak due to too many thoughts running through his head, so he simply reacted, grabbed Kalron’s body, and dragged it through the portal along with himself as the Jipalar Guards all crashed into the portal like it was the steel wall. They all cursed the mage for having placed a teleport block spell on them while they were bound to their spots.
“It’s done. Here’s *our* deal, old man, as well as everyone else. You don’t let this get to anyone else, and we’ll pretend it never happened. Tell something else to whoever asks, and we’ll keep this little incident between us. Also, you keep Sonia** membership in our gang a secret as well. Sound good?” Levantris asked of Pa*uet. The entire group stood near the center fountain, which was quietly spewing water and covering up their voices.
“Your word isn’t enough. I can’t trust you. I want… for one, we forgot the sack of Runes back at the Warehouse. I want your weight in Runes delivered to Aubury so he can hold them for me.” Pa*uet looked away from Levantris.
“Done. Is there anything else you want to keep your mouth shut about this?”
“One last thing, and I’m sure you can’t refuse this. You must tell me, and only me, about how you destroyed the beds and caused the other destruction in that room. Do not worry! I promise to keep that precious tidbit of information to myself, and no one else.” Pa*uet whirled around youthfully, facing Levantris, smiling at him eagerly.
“Argh! You do have quite the mind there. Ok. I guess I’m trapped here. Everyone, you’re dismissed. Get back to your hideouts and when someone asks you about what happened, tell them the story that your minds can come up with. You know how to sneak around – so do it!” Levantris pointed his finger at the southern side of Varrock, and the thieves ran off, leaving Pa*uet and Levantris alone in the center of the city.

Don't worry. It's almost over, I promise you! The insanely long Chapter 12 has finally come to an end. This story is almost done! Which means that there's only Chapter 13 left to conquer... yes! Finally! But remember why there's the Bliss Bookmarks in the first place: to rest from reading. If you waited this long to get through the story, you can surely wait just a bit longer.
This is the *last* Bliss Bookmark. If you're going to read past this point, then there's no turning back. Chapter 13 isn't too long... so go on and *finish* this novel! ;)

~+~+~+~+~ Chapter 13: The Night of Black Winds ~+~+~+~+~

“So. I hear Levantris and the crew had a wild time out at Jipalar Warehouse. They barely managed to get back with a sack of Runes and only about a third of the crew.” O’Hinal and Frojkal stood in their usual spot in the alley across from the Black Arms’ hideout, where even the midafternoon sunlight was almost dead in the back of the alley.
“Yes, but the Birdies got nothing. We won, even if only by a simple sack of Runes.” Frojkal laughed, and then his laughter cut and his facial expression turned worried.
“What about our plan? Is it ready to execute? It’s been three days since then, and tonight is the biggest mission for the entire gang. You know… how do we get it to work if we’re all going to be out there?”
“Then we have to put him down before it begins. We do it at dusk, before the storms begin and set the Night of Black Winds in motion. Remember how we’re going to do this, Frojkal. There ain’t no turning back now.” O’Hinal got closer to Frojkal’s worried face and held out his hand. Frojkal looked down, and gave a weak smile as he shook O’Hinal’s hand in agreement.
--
“Why do we call it the Night of Black Winds, Patrick? It’s an interesting name, and even though I pretty much ask you it every year, I keep on forgetting because of the awesome mission that follows it.” Marent asked Patrick while they were walking through the hideout’s corridors.

“Fine. I’ll tell you again, but only because I like telling the story. You see, when the Black Arms were fairly new, they weren’t that influential, so they decided to gang up all together and loot what they could in Varrock to try and get some respect. Someone said that they were like winds running through people’s houses and taking everything that they possibly could, showing no mercy to whoever got in their way. And because they were the Black Arms, they were ‘Black Winds’. And so, every year, whenever the rains are at their strongest, all the gang goes out and wreaks havoc on the city of Varrock. It’s tonight! I can’* wait for it!” Patrick grinned.
“Yeah. I seriously hope we don’t suffer any casualties like we did last year. Even if it was only two people, that was kinda sad. They fell to those stupid Varrockian Guards! But I guess it’ll be more fun if we can get in some more fights. You know that those guards are gonna be extra tight about security tonight, right?”
“Well, we’re lucky the tornado only wiped out the southwest side, or else we wouldn’t have much to loot from. Don’t worry ‘bout it, Marent! It** the *entire* gang – it’s gotta be at least fifty people. We all got each other’s backs!” Patrick slapped Marent on the back, and his face lit up.
*Of course! Duh! Alright. So, you know how we’re all going to go about it, right?”
“Yep. Everyone pretty much runs around without any direction and loots whatever they want without any guidance. Lovely tradition and a breath of fresh air from the usual intricate planning and the all-or-nothing thieving deals, you know?” Patrick put his arms behind his head and led Marent to the staircase that led upwards.
“Yeah, and even though I know how the Night of Black Winds plays out, I always love to hear it over and over again!” Marent hopped like a little kid being taken to a toy store up the stairs. Patrick threw back his head and laughed all the way up.

Levantris sat on his bed in his room, and held a golden key in his hand. In fact, this had been the very key that he had taken back from Sonia when he had given her her room. It was the key that had a dragon crawling around the base, and its scales and teeth made up the teeth of the key.
“Yeah, and I’m really lucky I managed to get this back; I pawned off the Grether Pen which was pretty much my only other way of getting in this room. I could’ve knocked down the door easily, but then what good what that would’ve done me? This is my *private* room for a reason. And tonight is that night… that night that she hates. I’ve already talked to Sonia about the entire thing, and she’s pretty much in the back where the only danger is being trampled by everyone when they come back with all their loot. It** just simple guard duty, so she doesn’t have to deal with all of that emotional nonsense. Hoo, this oughta be a night, especially with the lower head count.”
He got up and removed his hood, exposing his spiky hair that had been flattened slightly by the torrent of rain from the Jipalar Deal. When he got up to look in the mirror, he saw that he looked a little like he did twenty years ago, and that made him gasp.
“Whoa, that’s a little scary there!” he exclaimed as he quickly threw off the faded robes and the hood and rushed to the small hamper that lay in the corner and grabbed a fresh set out and immediately put it on.
“That’s better. Well, according to the clock… it’s about an hour until the storm is situated over Varrock. I better get outside quickly and scope the area to see that everything’s alright.”
He opened the door, shut it, and locked it, and then rushed through the corridors up to the second basement floor of the hideout. A sniffling, bald figure known as Jerry shuffled across the corridors, mumbling something about hair spray and a set of names that sounded like James, Harvey, Pierre, Timmy, and Daniel.

Levantris assumed that those names must’ve been the names of some of Jerry’s hairs or his hair combs that he hoarded. After passing Jerry, he was stopped by a thief named Jeremy. Jeremy had been wearing some very clean Rogue armor, and his long brown hair rested on his shoulders, begging for water.
“Hey, boss. Do you think we’re gonna do good tonight?” Jeremy took out a black, slightly tattered feather and began to twirl it in his fingertips. He had a confident look about him, and Levantris was confident about him too. Jeremy was a very good Class 3 thief, and since only a few Class 4 thieves had survived the Jipalar Deal, he was automatically going to be promoted to Class 4 to balance the loss. Levantris would’ve promoted Jeremy even if the casualties hadn’t come up. Jeremy was smarter than Vinnin and stronger than Reitar, and was only outranked by O’Hinal among Class 3 thieves.
“If you all do what you’re good at, we won’t have any trouble. Simple as that, Jeremy.” Levantris said and then passed by him. But before Jeremy walked by (as he was used to Levantris giving him quick answers and wouldn’t be bothered by it), he turned around and said,
“Hey, Jeremy. Get over here.” Jeremy immediately turned around came over, with a look of pride on his face, as if Levantris might’ve promoted him on the spot.
“If anyone wonders where I’ve gone, tell them I’m getting a breath of fresh air before the storm starts. Jeremy, keep close to the surface. You know where Sonia is, right?” Levantris still spoke quickly, but Jeremy could notice that he almost stumbled on his words.
“Yeah, boss. Why?”
“Go fetch her and organize the gang. However, don’t come out ‘til you hear the rain pour down and the thunder roar across the sky. After that, you know what to do.” Levantris was already looking towards the corridor leading to the staircase when Jeremy said,
“I hear you, boss. I’m so looking forward to it.” he grinned as Levantris walked swiftly out of sight.

“But that’s kinda weird – why would *you* act so anxious?” he said to himself as he went back to look for Sonia.
Levantris rushed through the rest of the hideout without any interruptions, though he could hear Vinnin making a stamping noise in Reitar** room. He did*’t bother to check what he was actually doing as he had a very important thing to attend to. It did sound like there was a bit of sniffling and shouting behind the stamping, though.
Finally, he came to the entrance, that had the bronze image of the thief with the bag of loot. Levantris stopped for a moment and looked at the thief, frozen forever in a run from the law with his spoils at his back. It made him sigh, a long, youthful sigh that made him think about what had happened to him a long time ago. If anyone had seen his face, they might’ve thought he was sad, as if he was saying goodbye to someone or something.
‘It’s about time I got there, anyways. They’re waiting for me and I know that they’d love to get it on. Something tells me I’d like to get this over with too.’ Levantris thought as he unlocked the door and left the hideout.
He came out to see a ring of black clouds that cast a foreboding shadow under them, and whatever was under it was almost impossible to see under a dark gray mist. He guessed it would be about twenty minutes before the storm hit Varrock and the gang would come out to loot the entirety of the city. But of course, the guards and the people knew full well what that intimidating ring of clouds meant as well, and the streets were clear of people and noise. Even the fountains had been turned off, and it gave the atmosphere an even more ominous feel.
‘Just like everything else. Except this isn’t just an old tradition, least not for me it is. But I’d really be better off getting to where I need to be. Vinnin did a good job on spying on O’Hinal and Frojkal, and now…’

Levantris wanted to finish the thought, but his body seemed to move on its own towards the dark alley, which looked about as inviting as a dragon’s mouth to a weak-hearted warrior.

Sonia lay in her room, almost half asleep. Although her emotion had dulled over time, the Night of Black Winds still rang out clear and hard in her mind, and she was excused to have the simplest of duties: guard duty in front of the hideout. She did*’* want to think about it too much until it was actually time to leave, so she tried to get some sleep. Just as she felt the warm, cozy blanket of restful sleep take her over, she heard a loud knocking on the door.
“Oh, great. What is it now?!” she moaned, cranky. When she tried to get up, she felt something yanking her brown hair, which had lately become darker due to the dust exposure. It made her fall back down onto the bed, and she realized that it was her elbow and mumbled something about needing a pair of shears before she got up and went to the door.
When she opened it, she found Jeremy in front of her, his foot tapping on the floor with the feather in his mouth.
“Well, it took you long enough. Come on! I’ve already got most of the gang to assemble in the foyer, and you’re pretty much the only person left on my list! The rains are gonna start any moment now!” Jeremy immediately grabbed her wrist and dragged her along, and before she knew it, Sonia was running through the halls and up the stairs of the hideout. Before long, she found herself amongst an entire crowd of thieves, all quiet as black mice in the hideout’s foyer.
“Right. Now we wait for the first rumble of thunder and the sound of the rains. Then, it’s every thief for the loot!” Jeremy whispered as Sonia jerked free of his grip. She looked at the dagger that she had received; it was made of pure Mithril, even the hilt, which made it heavier than a normal dagger, but still light enough to be easily used by her.

Even though she had the easiest job in the entire team, she still did*’t feel too confident about this. The fact that was going to *participate* in the very event that had killed her parents was startling enough to shake the wispy emotion and reveal the true sorrow behind it, and it was almost by force that Levantris had made her take the job. She thought about trying to sneak away for just a second, but then Jeremy or someone else would find out the moment she took a step and get her back into the action, and so that killed that plan.
‘Any minute now… I’m itching to get out there and take it all for the gang and myself!’ Jeremy scratched his side anxiously and rolled the feather’s quill in his mouth.
‘I’m gonna so steal a wig from those undeserving peasants… and if anyone gets in my way, they’ll have my rage to deal with!’ Jerry grabbed his short Adamant sword and looked it at greedily.
‘With me and Patrick on the rampage, we’re gonna so make a mark on Varrock despite our lost men. I can’* wait!’ Marent grinned and rubbed his hands together.
‘Well, I don’t get why the boss would suddenly leave early… but it ain’t my place to ask why. All that matters is avenging Rei, and to do that, I gotta take the storm by force and kill it! Yeah!’ Vinnin was breathing hard, and he unleashed the scythe, which had steel weights tied to it to make it heavier and more damaging.
‘As long as we can keep it together, we oughta do great. Which is why I’m teaming up with Marent on this one; whoever tries to kill one of us is gonna have to kill the other first!’ Patrick closed his eyes and let out a deep breath.
‘Let’s just get this over with so I can call it a dream. In fact, I wouldn’t mind being severely wounded so that I couldn’t be in missions for months and months!’ Sonia took the Mithril dagger and stabbed the air softly with it.
--
“Where are you? You’re here, so do what you’re gonna do!” Levantris’s voice was higher than it usually was.
