"Have they *really* put it at the back of their minds? I mean, that was traumatizing! Seriously, really traumatizing! It was something out of a nightmare! How can they look so strong now?" Levantris turned to her and said,
"They've had experience. Remember, these men have had to kill innocents. They can be hardy, and yet very strange at times as well."
"Oh. Oh, yeah." Sonia looked down at the wet ground, which squished with water as she stepped through it. She recalled that Levantris had done exactly what O'Hinal had done, and that she was still alive because of his insecurity and whatever other reason he may have had for not killing her since they had met again.
But since no one had known that Levantris had done such a thing except for Sonia, and she wasn't going to tell anyone in the gang about it. After all, even if it had been by a *thief*, he was the one who saved her life.
Still, she wondered if her destiny was worth trying to figure out... After all, she had ended up *leading* them in one of their most prominent missions in their history. In fact, she had pretty much been *forced* to do this, since she was surrounded by men who knew how to fight, even if it wasn't very good. But in the last couple of days, the emotion that she would've used to resist them was negated and then bound, gagged, and thrown into a dungeon deep inside her heart.
As a result, she had gotten used to the rough treatment and the fact that she was working for what she had always hated.
And indeed, she would've hated it and sobbed right there on the spot, but the emotion was gone. It was replaced by a rather wispy, fake feeling that seemed to pose as a replica of the real thing, to keep her from turning emotionless like Levantris.
"Well, how much longer is it to the portal that gets us to Jipalar Warehouse?" Sonia looked up, and to her surprise, her voice was calm and collected, as if it was completely ready for a big showdown.

"About five more minutes. If you want to get there faster, we could run, but then again that might decrease our energy by just a little, and our thieves need all of their focus during this mission. It's your choice. I don't really care, as long as we get the loot and get out of there with the least amount of casualties." he never looked at Sonia while he talked.
"Hmm. It's a stretch. How about we walk until you can see where the portal site is, and then once we see it, we run for it?"
"Nah. Not gonna work. I have to do a little ritual-type thing with the portals that takes about ten seconds. I can't do that while you guys are very close to me. Try something else." after he spoke, the group could see that they were coming to the edge of a plateau, which had been where they traveling on for the past couple of hours. It was only about twelve feet from the top to the bottom, so it wouldn't kill anyone to jump off of it. The slope was rocky and jagged, so sliding down wasn't an option, although climbing it would've sufficed, though it would've taken much too long.
"Is that where the portal lies? At the edge of that plateau? Before the drop into the valley below?" Sonia inquired, pointing towards a strange distortion in the air that made the light green plain seem to wobble and look blurry behind it.
"...Not necessarily. The portal is really at the bottom of the plateau. The little waviness you see at the edge is to signify where the ritual must be performed. Wouldn't be that easy to do it while you're flying down into a bunch of sharp rocks, hm?" Levantris looked at Sonia, and she shrugged.
"Fine with me, then. Everyone! Run until I tell you to stop! Now! Go!" Sonia began to run, along with Levantris and the rest of the gang, whose splashing in the water was heard by any wildlife or insects that might've been swimming or wading in the huge, plain-wide puddle.

'Here goes! Although what Pa*uet said still bothers me, I really can't wait to get there and fight some thieves!' Sevan thought to himself as Pa*uet turned to them and began to chant monotonously, creating a show of red electricity that sparked roughly and shot across to the other three corners of the group, setting those points aflame with crimson fire.
Pa*uet put his hands on a transparent force field, that became red like the electricity that was threatening to break free and strike one of the trees, causing it to catch fire. The crimson flame turned burgundy and was easing itself around the red circle, surrounding Pa*uet in a little fiery circle of his very own.
--
"Stop!" Sonia shouted, and all the Black Arm members immediately slowed down and halted in front of the little colorless rift.
Levantris walked in front of it, took out the other codes, which were surprisingly dry and unscathed from the storm, and traced another circle figure in the grass below.
He whispered some words as he traced a decagon in the figure, and then drew an X across it, which was in black ink that seemed to magically come from his finger.
A twilit glow was seen from below the cliff, and then Levantris looked down at it and smiled.
-
Pa*uet's face was scrunched in pain and his teeth was clenched, as his body was now encased in the black-reddish flame that surrounded the entire force field. The bolts of electricity had by now disappeared, and the setting sun seemed repulsed by the entire scene and refused to shine on it, which made everything look bleak and ridden with darkness.
"Are you ready, Black Arms?!" Levantris and Sonia shouted together, raising their fists with grins on their faces. The thieves returned their shout with a loud, heavy shout of confidence.
"Now we will embark to the--" Levantris began.
"To the finalé, to Jipalar--" Pa*uet groaned,
"To our destinies!" Both yelled.

"And indeed, I think they will be there very soon." Frojkal looked out of the darkening alley that he and O'Hinal were standing in. They had turned that alley into a little secret hangout of sorts, to talk without being seen by the public.
The pink light shone inside the alley dimly enough to be able for one to see the outlines of their bodies, like candlelight in a pitch-black castle corridor. O'Hinal nodded, and then he said,
"You know what's coming up almost a day after the Jipalar Deal, right?" he was looking out towards the more lighted parts of the alley, where the pink light shone stronger.
"Ah... That annual mission that *everyone* participates in. Lovely! But you do know that it gets harder and harder every year, right? It's not like the day varies with each year."
"Right, but who cares? With our growing size, the guards and all those futile things the people try to do to keep us from getting in are countered! Besides, I like a challenge... Don't you?" O'Hinal winked at Frojkal and looked into the darkness of the left side of the alley.
"Eh, I guess so. I've always thought that this tradition of ours was so... Unlike the thief's image." Frojkal shrugged, and the two walked into the darker portion of the alley, disappearing into the thick, black mist that permeated the darker corners of it.

"Fritzee!!!" Vinnin yelled as he waved his arms in circles, his body hurtling towards the twilight portal. Once he phased through it, only Sonia and Levantris were left.
"Are you nervous?" Levantris asked, looking down at the portal.
"I'd like to say that I'm not, but then I'd be lying. Let's just go." Sonia looked at Levantris, and then took a deep breath. She looked down at the portal, and right before they both jumped into it, Levantris said:
"Keep your mind sharp. Don't let your emotions get in the way of what you're doing, and never let yourself be caught off guard by anything."
Then, they jumped into it, and after that, the portal that Veronica had entrusted to Levantris faded away, the sun about to disappear off of the horizon.
--
"...Teleport!!!" Pa*uet screamed in pain, and then the entire black circle that surrounded the Phoenix Gang members exploded in slow motion, the circle's energy splitting and zigzagging into the surroundings, leaving very noticeable scorch marks everywhere. Pa*uet's body was disintegrating to black dust as the circle burst, and sent a huge beam of purple light across the early night sky, taking Pa*uet's ashes with it.
--
Sonia and Levantris landed on their feet on some dark, loose gravel-filled soil, where some lights were hanging from the corners of Jipalar Warehouse.
The terribly large warehouse was entirely made of steel, and looked impregnable to a horde of barbarians, much less two groups of thieves. It was rectangular from the looks of it, and was surrounded by nothing but the gray, gravelly soil. The Jipalar Guards were nowhere to be found. They were probably all hiding inside the rooms of the warehouse or in whatever crevices that the thieves might've thought to look for.
Sonia and Levantris ran to catch up with the gang, which was already starting to sneak around the warehouse to try and find a way in.

"Cursed Birds! I bet you they already found a way in there." Levantris whispered as he slid in between an excruciatingly small space in the middle of the steel buildings, feeling around for any buttons or switches that might've let a guard in. He found nothing, and then squeezed himself back out.
"Nothing. What kind of maniac designed this place, anyways? The guards have to have had *some* way to get in, and if the Birdies have gotten as far as I think they have, they must've found some way in..." Levantris whispered again to Sonia, who was keeping watch for any guards.
"Psst," Ralph ran silently up to the two and told them,
"I think we have our way in. C'mon, hurry up!" Ralph darted off, running down the line of steel blocks that made up the warehouse. There were quite a lot, as Sonia had noticed: They didn't seem to stop until the ground began to curve upwards, signaling that there was a mountain somewhere behind Jipalar. Ralph suddenly turned before they had gotten to the very last steel block, which had more space in between it and the other row of blocks than the other rows.
"Check *this* out. A lot of our gang already went in to scope the place. Everyone else should be here shortly." Ralph held out his hand towards a kite shield-sized hole in the steel wall, that looked scorched and bent with many folds in the metal, as if it had taken much stress from a stone giant to even open it up to that size.
"By the way, it's like, really dark in there. No torches or anything. Shame that we lost that stuff because of the storm, but hey, we can manage, right? Should be *something* to light the place up..." Levantris nudged Sonia and pointed towards one of the huge candlelights that was suspended near the top of the warehouse.
"But it's so high up! How are we going to get it?" Sonia's attention was soon directed from the light to what was behind Ralph, as she could see shadows of men running towards them.

"Oh, they're here?" Ralph turned around and saw more masked thieves in Rogue armor running to meet them, so quiet that their steps were inaudible even on the loose gravel that Jipalar Warehouse sat on.
"We're here, baby! Now how do we get in?" Vinnin said from the very back of the group of about ten to fifteen thieves. He still didn't have any clothes except for the loincloth, and as soon as Sonia heard his deep, confident voice, she immediately turned to the hole in the wall.
"This." Ralph pointed at the hole.
"But before you rats get in there, I want a couple of you to stay. Preferably the ones who know that they're strong. Except you, Vinnin. Get in there right *now*." Levantris said to them, and Vinnin jumped with glee as he ran towards the hole, and then jumping in head-first, almost hitting himself on the folded steel. He was halfway through when he stopped moving through the hole, and yelled,
"I'm stuck!! Oh, why now, huh?!" Sonia tugged at her hair, and with a repulsed look on her face, shouted at the thieves:
"Well? What are you just standing around for? Push him in while about six of you stand on top of each other and grab that candlelight!" she turned away and looked at the last row of steel blocks while the men struggled to push Vinnin in.
After about half a minute of trying, he slipped through, and then the others proceeded to get through the hole. The six thieves that were shakily stacked on top of each other, with each man holding the ankles of the one on top of him. The top thief gulped, and then easily slid the large glass candle holder from its place, and then jumped off, landing on the gravel. He nearly dropped the candle, but after some funny-looking sliding on the gravel, he kept it intact and held it firm. The other thieves jumped from the top sequentially, and then the thief with the candle presented it to Sonia and Levantris, like a peasant presenting a jewel to a king and queen.

"Alright. Get in there. Put the candle holder in first, and *then* put yourself in, ok?" Levantris moved from the hole, along with Sonia and the thief holding the light.
The thief put the candle in and pushed it slightly, and then squeezed himself through the hole. Levantris jumped in, amazingly not hitting himself on the steel as he did it. Sonia put her head in, and then her arms, and pulled herself through the hole, landing on the floor with a soft thud when she got her entire body through it.
The room that they were in was full of crates and boxes, although they had all been opened, and to the luck of the Black Arms, they all held some kind of light source. A lot of the lanterns were left on the floor, as all of the gang members didn't want to be seen with a light. Also, there didn't seem to be any guards around. Either that, or they had already been killed.
Levantris motioned for the candle thief to carry the light to the center of the room, which had only one unopened crate sitting alone in the center of the room, which was about as long as the Black Arms' cafeteria, and was also quite wide, enough to house forty crates side-by-side on all of the sides of the room.
He put it on top of the crate, and then Levantris picked up one of the nearby lanterns and lit it with a nearby tinderbox. Sonia did the same, and the candle thief as well.
"Do whatever you want. You know the drill. Come back alive." Levantris whispered, and then darted off in silence into the corridor in front of him. The candle thief aimed for the corridor behind them, making a little noise with his lantern as he went. Sonia picked up her lantern tentatively and then walked for the corner opposite diagonally of the one Levantris had gone down.
Vinnin had already split up from the rest of the gang, and was looking for anything that might look promising. It was hard to tell, though, because everything was packed up in crates!

He chose a room at random, and found that the crates were being plundered by a thin man with a red outfit. He had already killed the burly Jipalar Guard that lay frazzled on the ground, a huge tear in his neck from where the man's blade had cut through.
Vinnin opened his lantern slowly and let the flame be exposed, and then hurled it at the man with all his might. But the man was ready for the attack and immediately retaliated by jumping backwards and throwing some knives at Vinnin, which he barely managed to dodge as the knives flew out into the hallway, landing in a crate that spewed out some sanguine substance that flowed out quickly and began to melt the very mithril that the crate was made out of.
"Oh really, Phoenix scum?!" Vinnin yelled at the thin man, but Vinnin realized that he was basically unarmed. It didn't matter, as the lantern set the crates and their contents aflame, and was beginning to spread out and burn down the entire room. The floor was made of steel just like the walls were, and only began to turn red instead of burning up like the wooden crates.
"Shut up and die... Oh my, by the gods, why are you--" the Phoenix man's mouth opened in shock at Vinnin, but while he was dumbfoundedly staring, Vinnin took hold of the man with his huge, strong hands and hurled him into the flames. The fire was burning what appeared to be a lot of crafting items, such as thread, moulds, and jewelry, that took on strange new shapes as it was turned back into gold putty.
"Giaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!" The Phoenix gang member screamed and sprinted out of the fire, a human torch that ran out into the hallway and began to roll, much like Jerry had done, except without screaming about what he doing. This man just shouted in agony as he tried to extinguish the flames.
Vinnin ran outside, as the flames were beginning to creep up on him, and then he stood over the man and laughed heartily at his anguish.
"Bad move, ugly. Baaaad move."

Levantris heard the screams of the Phoenix man, but paid them no mind as he crept up to the next room. He could hear a slight cracking as a crowbar tried to pry its way into a stubborn crate that wouldn't be opened, and then moved in a flash around the corner. He saw a black-armored man who shouted in surprise as Levantris threw a quick punch at him, and barely managed to sidestep the swift attack.
"Whoa, man! You better calm it!" the man drew a black scimitar, and then Levantris held up the lantern near his harsh face, revealing that it was him.
"What? Oh, hey Levantris! Fancy meeting *you* here, huh?" Beraw smiled and put his faded black scimitar back into its sheath.
"Sure. Why are you here? This is our turf! You don't even need to be here!" Levantris whispered, annoyed that Beraw was trying to get something for himself when he already had the pleasure of killing people in the wilderness to get his riches.
"So? I can be here if I want. I helped you with the guards. Say, how come you're not on the other side? Those Phoenix guys are doing insanely good without all the guards. They took your side!" Beraw's voice was upbeat and calm, as if it wasn't one of the most important missions.
"You didn't bother to tell me that Jipalar was a permanently sealed off mass of steel?!" Levantris's free hand began to curl into a fist.
"Man, I thought you knew that! Shoot. Well, it was, 'til this crazy old guy melted and bent a hole in the wall and let everyone in. Including y'all, but I got in another way. You know, the *real* way, the way the guards get in and out and the way the vital supplies get in."
Levantris punched Beraw across the cheek, causing him to fall over on the crate that he was trying to crack open and then he whispered angrily,
"Why didn't you tell me this two days ago when we had the *chance*?! You may be single-handedly responsible for our failure!!"
