However, as time passed, she noticed that all the other kids had at least one parent with them, and that she was all alone... She didn't have anyone except Thessalia, who was busy in the store selling stuff.
The thought was in her mind along with the fact that she was eager to see what present she would receive, as she saw a lot of other kids, both younger, older, and the same age as her, walk or being lifted away with smiles on their faces and twinkles in their eyes as each of them held a lovely, shiny, marvelous wrapped gift in a box.
After being in the line for a good twenty minutes, Sonia, finally got to be with Santa for a while. He was just as she had expected from last year; a fat, jolly old guy with red cheeks, a red suit with a famous red hat, and a curly beard that was longer than she was. She almost jumped onto Santa, and then he bellowed out in a jolly voice,
"Ho, ho, ho, pretty little girl! What's your name?" He smiled at her, and she sat on his lap and looked straight into his happy brown eyes.
"Well, I'm Sonia!"
"Now, where are your parents, Sonia? Are they busy today, working at the shops to try and help me give away gifts?"
"Sort of. Umm... My parents... They, they aren't... Umm..." She began to lose her holiday spirit as she recalled the memory of her mother with the sword stuck through her stomach, and her agonizing moans as she shouted her last words to Sonia, hoping she would be able to listen through the wall.
She shook it off, unaware that her red face was now coated in tears, and that Santa was hugging her tightly in front of all the people who were watching. He whispered to her in a warm voice that calmed her down like hot chocolate,
"I understand, little one. Do you have someone to care for you?"
"...T-T-Thessie... Over t-there..." Sonia pointed towards the clothes store.
