"I mean... The night they came. This is the first time you've mentioned it to me, Sonia. Is there anything wrong...?" Thessalia picked up a box full of white fabric that was next to Sonia, and began to walk off with it, but Sonia shot up from her chair and blurted out,
"Wait! Give... give that to me."
"Why?"
Sonia sniffled quietly.
"My mother wore a white garment that night..."
Thessalia gasped, the sudden burst of emotion seeming to pierce the quiet tapping of the rain on the windows.
"I'm so sorry... but... I'm afraid I can't hand this over to you. Please, understand..." Thessalia's sympathy was coating her voice.
"Why not? Why can't I have at least some re-collection of my mother...?" Sonia said, choking out the last few words, and then she ran off to the corner of the store, beginning to sob quietly, the barely audible sound of a 14-year-old girl weeping being a sad, riveting violin among the tranquility of the night.
Thessalia put down the box on the floor, and walked over to Sonia to try and comfort her.
"Sonia, if I could change reality, I would give it all to you... all of it! But with things being the way they are now, we have to be able to sell as much as we possibly can, otherwise the King's taxes will bury us into the ground!" Thessalia stroked Sonia'* hair gently, like a mother would do for her daughter.
"I don't care! It's not just the stupid white fabric! It's the fact that I don't have them anymore! Thessie... I don't know what would be worse; not remembering how they used to love me, or remembering every single second they gave up for me! It hurts every time I see a relationship like that here in Varrock... I know it isn't as common as it used to be, but why?! Why'd it have to happen to me?! Why couldn't they have just targeted some stupid bar?!" Sonia'* quiet sob turned into a loud, childish bawling, and she walked off in anguish to the back bedroom.

"...Sonia!" Thessalia shouted from the main area of the store, not budging from her spot.
"I may not be your mother... I'll never be close to having her love for you! And I know, that it really hurts right now... But someday you'll have to stop crying about them! I know you loved them! They're probably with Saradomin, right now, watching over you!"
Sonia came out, sniffling.
"Really...?"
"It's as true as their love for you! Never forget that..."

----

(At the present time...)
"Never forget it... never forget it. I'll never forget them, no matter how bad this place is." Sonia whispered to herself, and she had now just noticed that her face was covered in warm tears of sorrow, tears that had been sealed with lost innocence.
Suddenly, a voice broke the moment into the harsh reality that was now.
"What's with you?"
"What...? Is that... is that you, Levantris?"
"Indeed. I'm about to head out to get us some transportation for Jipalar. If we're lucky, I can get us a good enough deal to get us there in less than four days. But answer my question... what's with the tears and the red face? Don't tell me it was one of the others who did it. If it was, tell me the lowdown on him, and he'll get what he deserves..." Levantris stared down at Sonia with his icy green eyes.
"No. It-It wasn't that. Just... recalling some very personal past events. ...Levantris?" Sonia wiped the tears from her eyes.
"What is it? Make it quick, I have to be heading out soon to make the meeting."
"Could I possibly take a look around Varrock...? One more time? I just want to see it again, instead of the same, grimy hallways that line this place." She got up and looked down at her feet, afraid to look Levantris in the eye.
"Ok. Sure. I'll let you have a look at this city."

As soon as she heard this, Sonia was about to jump for joy, but Levantris intensified his gaze on her, and she just managed to meet his stare, and it stopped her right where she stood.
"What is it? You don't like it when I do that? *h, it might be annoying to you, but let's go already! I want to see if Thessalia and the Tramp are still alive!"
"Oh, you'll be able to see them... at dawn, in two days. See you later!" Levantris pushed her back towards the statue, and then quickly pick-locked the door next to them and rushed out, slamming the door behind him.

--

"So what do you suggest we do, Your Majesty...?" The pasty-faced man asked. His long, white hair was shining like a dove's glory down the back of his ivory robes, and it went down all the way to the back of his legs. In his robes, were two wands and a crimson bag made of leather, the top tied up with a golden cord. He looked to be almost in his early 70s, although the wrinkles on his face were not that prominent.
"All things considered, Pa*uet, I would suggest that the next time one of those dirty thieves leaves their home with the rats, you take them out personally. Or no, no. Knock them out and bring them to me... That will help us even more." King Roald was stroking his chin, a cunning smile draped across his face. He made eye contact with Pa*uet, who was standing directly in front of him, a white spot of living matter on the lovely red carpet.
"Your Majesty. If it pleases you, I'd like to try something very special. Earlier today, while I was strolling through the center of Varrock, I noticed one of the trees surrounding it spawning an odd brown leaf. It caught my eye, until I examined it more closely, and it turned out to be a strange, brown piece of paper! Here it is..." Pa*uet pulled out the paper and opened it up in front of the King for him to see.

"Of course! The Brisia Note can be used to communicate with whoever holds the Grether Pen! Although... I am not so sure if we should be talking through it. We don't know who could possibly be on the other end of it..." Roald folded up the Brisia Note and put it on his lap.
"I see. I can understand Your Majesty not talking through the Note for safety reasons, but what about myself?"
"Pa*uet! You are my best wizard! Are you so sure you want to communicate with a stranger?"
"I know you care about me, Your Majesty, but... I have a personal grudge against thieves, the Black Arms in particular. I would prefer not to speak of it, if that pleases Your Majesty." Pa*uet's voice was slightly faltering, due to his age, but it was strong, like a hawk's sight when it swoops down to catch its prey.
"It is fine, Pa*uet. But I must warn you... Take the utmost precautions when you are doing this. Report to me at the end of the day, when the sun is about to disappear over the horizon." Roald took the Brisia Note and handed it to Paquet, and then he put his hand on his forehead and sighed.
"Again, Pa*uet... Be careful. I don't want to lose you." His voice was tired, like it needed a rest from being king and having to speak the way he did.
Pa*uet bowed to Roald, and then began to walk out of the throne room quietly and at a moderate pace, his white boots making no noise as they shuffled across the carpet.
"Roald, you are my friend, but why, why are you such a fool...?" Pa*uet thought to himself as he reached the exit, and closed the door, the creaking sound leaving a slightly foreboding mood in the minds of all who heard it.

--

Levantris looked both ways before darting across the street, his slim figure only a shadow as it flew through the back alleys of Varrock. For a moment, he turned to the entrance of the Phoenix's Gang's hideout, and sneered at it, muttering a curse in some strange language that was obviously not English or even Latin.

Next, he rushed past the Rune shop, a novice mage watching him run through the streets, trying to keep himself inconspicuous. The mage shrugged and entered the shop, hoping to get a good deal on Mind and Body Runes.
"Here we are..." Levantris whispered as he peered through the torn, blood-red curtains, where three men and a woman were discussing something in a low tone, so that they wouldn't be heard.
"Ah, Levantris... Come on in!" The woman smiled evilly at him, and he ambled in.
"Ha, Lev. Still the eccentric thief that you always have been, right?" One of the three men winked at Levantris, and his extremely faded black hair was of medium length. He was wearing full Black armor, and the sword he was wielding looked like a plain Black Scimitar, but it was as faded as his hair, which made it a sickly-looking gray. His skin was tanned well, and his brown eyes loved of anything that was risky.
"Well, that's all your opinion. How are you two doing?" Levantris pointed his index and middle fingers at the other two men who were standing next to each other, farther away from the black-clad man.
"We're quite fine, Levantris of the Black Arms." The two figures were hooded and dressed in zucchini-colored robes that trailed slightly along the ground. They both looked down, and no hair or other features were shown, other than their slightly tanned hands held together.
"Still with the talking in unison, I see."
"Of course." The two figures always spoke perfectly together, as if they both knew what to say every time.
"Yeah, yeah. So we've had our introductions. Now, Levantris says he wants the locations of my code-protected portals so he and his gang can loot Jipalar Warehouse. You know what I want in return, right?" The woman's burgundy hair was tied in a bun and she rolled her blue eyes, as her full set of Zamorak armor failed to glitter in the light of the room.
"I got it right here. Take it, I don't have much use for it anymore."

Levantris reached into his outfit and pulled out the light-green feather pen, with the burning flame at the end. He tossed it to the woman, and she grinned in pleasure at the pen.
"Of course. The Grether Pen. Allows me to communicate with whoever holds the Brisia Note. And in return... The codes for my portals." The woman scratched the back of her head and a white paper magically appeared in her hand. She put it in Levantris's hand, and he slipped it into his outfit.
"Cool. Now, Beraw, you have the majority of Jipalar's guards on the eastern side of the warehouse?"
"Lev. I'll take care of it. Just let good old Bear take care of things...” Beraw chuckled and began to whirl his faded gray scimitar around.
"And we would like to request that Levantris of the Black Arms be present at our dedication ceremony, in return for the scrolls that we have been saving." The two robed figures shook a little in their boots, but they never looked up from the floor.
"Sure. It'd be nice to see you two finally break away from that annoying double speech. You have my word." Levantris flashed a look to the woman, who was poking and tugging at her bun, which then cascaded down into a dirtied crimson mess of wavy strands that ran down to her lower back.
"Veronica. You ever heard of a comb? Or do you like your hair to be like the beard hair of a moss giant?"
Veronica whirled around and faced Levantris, her forest-colored eyes staring straight into his own cold green eyes.
"Laugh all you want, you moronic thief! At least I have some sense to change clothes every once in a while..." Veronica laughed out loud right into Levantris's face.
Levantris shrugged, and then walked over to Beraw and whispered into his ear,
"This is the woman you said was a marvelous mix of cutting-edge beauty and blood-red blades?"
Beraw scoffed, and pushed Levantris over like he was a peasant and then went and stood behind the two robed figures.

Levantris watched Veronica raise an eyebrow in question at Beraw's reaction to what he had said to him, and the two robes figures standing in the same place, never moving, until they both approached Veronica, and bowed to her in unison. Then, a strange series of blocks began to descend upon them, and the next second, a dark rushing sound was heard and the two figures were no longer there.
"Right. I think all business has been attended to. I'll just leave you and Beraw alone in here..." Levantris darted out.

--

While Levantris was off doing his own business, Sonia was left in the foyer to the Black Arm Hideout, thinking about the lock, the Jipalar Deal, and while she was doing that, O'Hinal suddenly appeared in front of her, causing her to gasp in front of his masked face.
"Ha ha ha, don't worry. I'm not going to do anything to you. Anyways... I'm O'Hinal. I was in the Rising Sun Deal, although I wish I had gotten a certain item from that accursed castle. You know how it is, with us thieves wanting all these items." O'Hinal walked past Sonia and sat on the chair, and watched her stand there in the presence of the statue.
"I... I wouldn't know how it feels. I-I've never done a deal before..." Sonia turned her back to O'Hinal, showing her long river of brown hair to him.
"Ah, I see how it is. The first deal is always the hardest, you know. But soon enough, it gets easier and easier until it's just like breathing! You don't have a second thought about it! Then again... My first deal wasn't such a big one like this. What's your name, anyways? I never caught it..." O'Hinal's voice sounded understanding and kind, like he was trying to be extra nice to Sonia for one reason or another.

"Umm... I'm Sonia. O'Hinal, you don't know what it's like to be me. You have no idea what it feels like to go through what I've gone through. You think I want to be here? You think I had a choice?! If it weren't for that stupid tornado, I wouldn't have ended up in here in the first place!" Sonia shouted at the air, and then she whirled around and delivered a strong kick to O'Hinal's chair, which almost made him fall out of it, but he managed to regain his balance on it.
"Whoa! How did you end up in here because of a tornado...?" O'Hinal stood up and walked over to Sonia.
"Levantris said he rescued me from death. I don't know why. It doesn't even feel like it's worth it, saving me. I don't want to be here. I never wanted to be here...!" Sonia turned around again, away from O'Hinal.
"What? He rescued you, a complete stranger? But why...? That's something you don't see everyday!" O'Hinal stood there, wondering about why Levantris would do such a thing. Maybe she was special... He wouldn't just save anybody. Heck, he'd kill O'Hinal if he felt like it.
"Well, he told me I was special. I don't know why... He knows I don't want to be here."
"Listen, Sonia. I don't have a clue in my mind as to why a man like that would do such strange things, but here's something. He must've spared you for a reason. If there's one thing I know, it's that Levantris doesn't usually do things for no reason. So stop worrying so much about it. You'll be fine. Remember, the first time is always the hardest. After this, it won't be so hard..." O'Hinal's voice was gentle like a fluffy cloud, and it sent a calming vibe through Sonia.
"Well... I... I guess if I have to... I'll stay around for a while. If fate had willed me to die, then I probably would've died a long time ago. You know, O'Hinal... I can't believe I'm about to say this. I cannot believe I'm going to say this to a thief. A thief!" Sonia's voice was still shaky, but at least it wasn't desperate now.

"Well, spit it out! It'll probably build up like an infected lump if you just keep it to yourself." O'Hinal chuckled a little at the comment he had just made.
"Ok, fine. What I wanted to say was... Thanks. I still don't want to be here, but at least you made the whole ordeal a tiny bit better. Hopefully I can get out of this sad mood and return to that accepting mood I had when I was with Vinnin and Rei."
"And you are so welcome..."
O'Hinal suddenly made a move upon her, and whirled her around so that she was facing him, there being less than a foot between them, and his head moved towards Sonia'* slowly, shocking her stiff, and in what seemed like an eternity, his lips finally met with hers for a moment, and then, Sonia fell to the floor.
"...So welcome indeed."
=V= End of Chapter 8 =V=

Yeah, I bet you didn't expect *that* ending! :P Well, if that turn of events was enough for your mind, then stop here. If not, then read on and enter another excursion...
Oh, and the censor had originally messed with Paquet's name, if you didn't already notice the 'Pa*uet's in the text.
All the *s in his name are supposed to be letter 'q', just to let you know.
