"Oh... sorry, boss, I couldn't help myself. Seriously, boss, I'll skip dinner t'night, heck, I'll eat dirt t'night if you want me to boss." Vinnin's deep voice was disturbingly reminiscent of a demon's.
"No, no, none of that annoying stuff. Although if you feel like eating dirt, go ahead, that isn't really my business." Levantris replied, his apathetic voice changing tones, but not emotions.
"Ok boss." Vinnin got up off of the floor and sat back down on the chair, wiping his forehead and looking down at the floor.
"So, does anyone have anything to report?"
The room was silent for a minute. None of the thieves raised their hands.
"I see. Well, I guess I'll get to the deals then."
Sonia had a million things running through her mind, but they all crashed into each other before they reached the line of understanding, so she couldn't think about anything other than the fact that these guys were thieves. She was shivering now, even though the room wasn't cold. She couldn't be a thief... not after what a group of them did to her parents twenty years ago. But she didn't see any way out of it. She would ask Levantris about the entire thing later, when everything would cave in on her mind and make her have a nervous breakdown. She couldn't hear what Levantris had started saying about deals, because she was so wrapped up in thought. She just kept looking at her feet, trying to make herself insignificant in front of the thieves.
"...And that's what happened concerning the Asgarnian Jipalar Deal. Yeah, I know, not as we had originally planned it, but we'll just end up raiding the warehouse later, so don't worry your rogueis* little heads. You'll all to get to have some fun soon."
"Uh, sir? I think the new recruit has stage fright or something..." the thief at the edge of the row pointed out. He was average in almost every aspect except for his jet black hair, which almost sparkled in the dim light and his slightly pale skin.

"Oh. Don't worry... I'm sure she'll adapt in time, Jerry." Levantris looked at Sonia trying to make herself invisible for a second, turning his head in curiosity, and then focusing his attention back on the team of thieves.
"Right. Now, I know not all of you are good enough to get involved in the Jipalar Deal, so those who I call out, you're to report down to Savlon's cell to go listen to him babble on about something closer to home, like... The Rising Sun Deal. Ok. Jerry, Patrick, Marent, O'Hinal, and... Frojkal. You all can leave and head down to Savlon's. As for the rest of you, pay attention. I'm only gonna say this once."
The five thieves mentioned got up from their chairs and left through where the silver door had landed on the floor. Someone murmured something about the door and Levantris, but it was too unclear to hear what he was saying from the middle of the room.
Sonia kept shivering and waiting, her teeth clenched together, eyes closed, and her hair covering her left arm. She couldn't wait for this to be over and let all her emotions out...
"Ok. Now, here's the lowdown, just to let our new recruit know. Since the annoying Fire Birdies have been messing around with us since the beginning of time, we decided to show them who's better with a little contest. Whoever can loot the most from Jipalar Warehouse at the edge of Burthrope before it's either cleaned out or before they get caught, has the rights to call themselves the best thieving group this side of Gielinor."
"Boss?" Vinnin raised his hand and scratched his nose.
"Yeah, what do you want?" Levantris said quickly.
"Umm, I don't know if you know this or not boss, but if you sent all the less experienced guys down to Savlon's, why is she still here? She doesn't even have any training yet!"
Levantris swayed his head from side-to-side.
"Ah, but you don't know what I have planned for her. So quiet, Vinnie."
Vinnin rolled his eyes in disgust.

"Anyways. The heist is in three days. Prepare yourselves, Black Arms. I'll let you all in on the details and strategy of the heist tomorrow or the day after. Our honor is at stake here, and I'm gonna let Savlon loose in the hideout if you fail me..." Levantris ran his hand through his hair, let out a vain sigh, and looked at the faces of the thieves. All of them looked very scared at the threat of letting Savlon loose if they failed, their breathing faster and their faces slightly paler than before, even if they had dark skin.
"Yes, Levantris!" They all said in unison, like a group of military privates to their drill sergeant.
"Ok. You all can now leave. Go do whatever; don't worry about the new recruit here. I can deal with her. Leave!" Levantris waved his right hand out, beckoning them away. All the thieves left quietly through an exit behind the chairs, and some of them went into the rusty doors, while others went down to the end of the hallway and turned at the junction.
After all the thieves had left the scene, Levantris sat Sonia down on the center chair, and stood before her, looking at her frail spirit.
"Aye. Why are you behaving like this?" Levantris questioned, his voice still showing no emotion at all.
Sonia whimpered for about two seconds, and then she lost it and start to sob in her hands very loudly. Of course he didn't know, this was twenty years ago. He couldn't have possibly been able to wield a weapon back then, much less be a thief. She just continued sobbing, letting all her emotions out like a broken water pipe.
Levantris sighed, sounding annoyed, but not as much as when Vinnin laughed on the floor.
"Ok. What is your problem? Stop crying and spit it out!"
Sonia stopped for about a second, but then she just resumed crying.
"Aye. Let me guess, you don't wanna be here."
Sonia stopped again, and then stood up in front of Levantris and yelled at him, her face red and tear-stained,
"What was your first clue?!"

Levantris moved back from her a little.
"Hmm*h, well, I can see you're not afraid of me. I guess that's normal, seeing as you don't even know what rank I hold. I'm the Senior Thief of the Black Arms, and I'm also co-leader of the entire gang. So watch what you say!"
"I don't care if you're the spawn of Zamorak! You don't know what I'm feeling, and you never will, you emotionless scumbag thief!" Sonia yelled again at him, her quick, noisy breathing getting in his face.
"Ok. So, you hate thieves. Well, I guess I'll have to feed you to Savlon if you don't want to join us. It's your choice. Either become what you've always hated or get fed to a seven-foot cannibalistic monster who used to be one of the greatest assets to our gang until he was put in a magic runite cell because he nearly killed our leader, Katrine." Levantris acted as if she was talking to him about the weather, beginning to walk towards the other exit.
"It'd really be a shame to commit suicide like your mother did. Although I really wouldn't count it as suicide, but if you get trapped in the same two feet as Savlon on purpose, that's basically suicide to me. But whatever, if you feel like joining your parents you can follow me down to Savlon's cell and we'll get things arranged." Levantris began to amble down the hallway.
"Hold up, you! What do you know about my parents?! How do you even know that my mother did that?!" Sonia chased after Levantris, grabbing his cloak by the hood firmly.
"Oh, so I see you're interested. Ok. Let me go, and we'll head back into the meeting room and we'll talk all about it." Levantris turned his head to look at Sonia.
"...Fine. But I still don't trust you." Sonia let go of his hood and he walked back into the meeting room, Sonia following and sitting down on one of the chairs.
"Now, then... here's the deal on this. I think after I'm done, you'll want to stay with us instead of with Savlon." Levantris licked his lips.

~<>~| Chapter 5: Two Sides of the Coin |~<>~
"I was there, that night twenty years ago. You may think I wasn't there because of my appearance," Levantris spun around, his cloak flying around gracefully, "but I assure you that I was there."
"Wait! How did you learn of my mother's death? Did someone tell you about it after you raided my neighborhood like vicious dogs?!" Sonia was still angry at Levantris.
"No. I witnessed it, firsthand. But I can assure you I did not murder either of your parents. I only watched." Levantris looked off to his left, as if he was trying to make himself look innocent.
"I don't really trust you on that... you probably have a lot of strange, deadly weaponry, considering you're at the top."
"I wasn't born Senior Thief, you know. Twenty years ago, I was as new as you are, although... no, let me rephrase that. I had training, but I was still very, very new. Heh, I remember those days. I almost miss them.
The days I had a soul."
Sonia looked Levantris straight in the face.
"Wait, what do you mean by that?"
"Let's just say being with this gang for twenty years corrodes more than just your morality. Anyways, I'm sure you'd like to know how you became an orphan."
Sonia was about to speak, but Levantris interrupted her and started to speak in a very strange tone, strange for him at least. It sounded remotely emotional, like he was sorry for something.
"Well, on that rainy night, it was Savlon and myself. Savlon was Senior Thief back then. He's been here almost twice as long as me, you know. So me, being a new recruit, was scared out of my wits seeing as it was my first real deal. Savlon pretty much did everything. He chose the place we were going to loot from first, and it just so happened to be yours. So, a man who I'll assume was your father charged out with a Dragon Two-Hander, and he and Savlon fought for a while. But as your father was about to finish off Savlon..."

Levantris paused for a moment.
"What...? What happened to my father? I know he died, but... what is it, Levantris?" Sonia'* rage had cooled down. She saw that Levantris might've had a hard time recalling the incident himself, although his look had barely even faltered from its normal stone stare.
"Savlon went crazy, screamed out like a barbarian, and... He rushed through with his axe at such a speed, that it stopped your father's attack cold. Why? Because Savlon had sliced your father's head off, clean from its shoulders, blood exploding from the cut. And then, his body was held up by the other end of his sword, Savlon laughed like a maniac and then cut your father's body in half, spilling his intestines out on the floor and making an even more grotesque scene.
Next, he stepped on your father's guts, took his bloody head, and threw it at me, and I cried out as I caught it. Then we went into your house, and I saw your mother in a crooked V shape on the floor. There was a longsword stuck through her stomach. She had committed suicide, probably to die before Savlon could do the honors for her. You see, I hated to have to see that. I hated the killing, the thieving, all of that stuff. I was even wishing I was dead throughout the entire thing."
Sonia stared at him bug-eyed. She choked back a sob many times, and barely managed to keep herself from crying again, although tears ran down her face as Levantris told the tale. So, Levantris wasn't responsible for any of it... he was dragged into it, and probably scarred for life because of it. Savlon was to blame for the death of her parents. But one thing puzzled her, and she asked Levantris that out loud as he sighed, putting his hand on his face,
"If Savlon was responsible for the death of both of my parents, how come I survived...?"
Levantris rolled his eyes and shook his head. Clearly she couldn't remember the most important part of the story...

"I can't believe you don't remember. Do you remember seeing a young man staring at you, while you shivered and awaited death, though it never came?"
"Yes. I couldn't remember his face, although... wait! That was you? That was you?!" Sonia stood up and got closer to Levantris. His face had shown signs of emotion, but he didn't let it show long as he shook his head quickly and looked at her with that cold stare again.
"You got that right. I was the one who spared your life! If Savlon had found out, I would've been killed, and so would you, before either of us could reach this night. But I couldn't bring myself to kill such a young child. Now, I could do it easily, no questions asked." He scoffed.
"So... if you spared me then, why haven't you killed me already? I thought that was how thieves were. They always remember who they're supposed to kill and get it done, even if it's the last thing they'll ever do." Sonia looked down at the floor, surprisingly feeling quite calm despite the situation.
"I don't know. I guess it's more useful to have another member on hand rather than just killing a potential one off. Anyways, if you still want to get eaten by Savlon, you can follow me to his cell."
"Never. I will never give up to that monster. Besides, I could tell him that you let me live for twenty whole years and then we can both imagine what might happen." Sonia chuckled, for the first time in a while.
"Oh, shut it! I can always tell him that that was twenty years ago when I was young and stupid." Levantris walked for the silver door.
"Where are you going?" Sonia began to follow him.
"Aye. I'd best be getting down to Savlon's cell for his feeding. Don't come with me. Just... take these." Levantris went rummaging through his cloak, and threw a set of keys to Sonia.
"Your room's at the end of this hallway. It's got everything you'll need to become one of us.
...Are you sure you don't want to die?" he questioned, turning his head.

Sonia stared at the chandelier, examining the fire that was spurting out of the wooden handles. She thought for a while. Of course she didn't want to let Savlon kill her, but... again, she was going to become what she always hated! A thief! But... what choice did she have? It was either that or die a horrible, gruesome death at the teeth of the man who had killed her father and caused the death of her mother. And she knew she couldn't do that. If she lived, she just might plot revenge against that savage and learn how to kill that monster, to avenge her parents and preventing him from threatening any more innocent lives. Although she was pleased by a sudden thought of dropping a couple of random thieves into Savlon's cell and watching them be eaten alive...
She didn't even notice Levantris slipping out of the room and walking to Savlon's cell to feed him.

"Woooo! I'm almost feeling sorry we don't have to loot Jipalar!" Jerry held up his beer-filled glass, hooted again, and then chugged the beer in one swig.
"Man, after hearing about the Rising Sun Deal, I think I'll take a vacation on Karamja and never come back! Ha ha!" Marent's voice was shrill and his skinny body resembled a large walking stick with arms and legs, and his face was neither light nor dark, but still dirty.
Frojkal coughed in the corner. He preferred to stay out of their brash conversations and liked to stay in the shadows.
Patrick shoved Marent off of his chair and then took it, facing Jerry.
"To think that we would get to loot from the King's own treasury while he's just waking up... ooh, yeah! I love the low-security stuff! Makes me proud to be a thief!"
Marent growled and then pushed Patrick off of the chair, which caused Frojkal to leave the room, sensing the inevitable fight, and caused Jerry to stand back against the wall and let them settle it without getting him involved.
"Uh..." Jerry started.
"Shut up, hairy!" They both said in unison, tempers agitated.

"Hey! Don't insult the hair! It's probably the cleanest thing here, compared to you mugs!" Jerry patted his hair and whispered to it, his back on the wall while he watched Marent and Patrick circle each other.
"Why I oughta-" Marent started to run off towards Jerry, intent on pulling that overrated hair of his out and using it to floss his teeth.
"What the?!" Jerry jumped to the right, and Marent crashed into the wall, rubbing his forehead and standing around in a dizzy trance for a second, before Patrick tackled him from behind and pinned him to the floor.
"Get off of me, you idiot! Ow! I wanna show Hairy Jerry here what it feels like to be bald!! Get off!" Marent struggled to break free of Patrick's hold, and they ended up rolling on the floor, causing the chair to fall on the both of them and Jerry to point and laugh at them while he took out a comb and began to style his hair.
Marent and Patrick were wrestling on the floor like idiots, Patrick trying to get Marent in a half nelson while Marent tried to bite Patrick's face and deflect his attacks.
"Stop fighting me over a stupid chair!! Let's get Jerry, dang it!" Marent's arm was being twisted while he tried to bite Patrick's leg.
"Arr... maybe you're right. He does spend all his free time messing around with his hair. I bet if he could marry his hair, he would! Now get your gross teeth off of my leg!" Patrick's voice questioned the dim air, and then he slapped Marent's face trying to get him off.
"Yeah! Hey Jerry!" Marent got up from off the floor, followed by Patrick, who dusted himself off.
"What?! You idiots come to your senses and stop fighting about the stupidest things?!" Jerry cackled from across the room.
"Sorta... you go for his legs and I'll go for his hair. Promise I'll let you have some when we're done..." Marent whispered to Patrick.
Patrick yelled and then they both charged at Jerry. He yelled and then ran to the other side of the table like a black, shiny rat.

"Get back here, hairy!" Marent ran after Jerry while Patrick got on the other side of the table, cutting Jerry off.
"Ah...! What do you guys want?!" Jerry kept turning his head back and forth quickly, trying to look at Marent and Patrick at the same time as they approached him slowly, trying to disappear into the wall while making sure his hair didn't touch the dirt on it.
"We're gonna teach you the value of being so self-centered, Hairy Jerry..." Patrick grinned and made a cracking sound with his fingers.
"No... you guys leave my hair alone! The hair didn't do anything to you, you know!" Jerry began to shake in his boots.
Marent and Patrick both let out an evil laugh, although Patrick coughed in the middle of it. Then, they both rushed in on Jerry, Marent trying to jump on him while Patrick dove for his legs. There was a bunch of yelling, snorting, and hitting, until Marent and Patrick noticed that they were trying to kill each other instead of Jerry, who had run under Marent in the middle of his jump and ended up on the other side of the table.
"For the sake of all that is thief-like, just give it up, Jerry!" Marent got up and ran after Jerry again.
"No! Both of you, stop it right now!" A knife barely missed Marent's arm and bounced off of the wall and landed on the floor.
"What the heck was that?!" Marent turned around to see O'Hinal's crouched figure clad in Black Dragonhide Armor with a Rogue Mask, who had thrown the knife and was ready to throw another. Frojkal was standing behind him, although you could barely see his spiked black hair sticking out from behind the wall.
"Whoa! O'Hinal! Um, um, we were just messing around! Ack!" Marent cried out as Patrick ran into him, unaware of O'Hinal's presence, and caused the both of them to end up on the floor again.
"You both are idiots. Leave Jerry and his hair alone. We're all brothers here, despite our differences." O'Hinal stood up and helped Marent and Patrick up.
