"Perhaps I tried to fit *too* much symbolism into a small piece... "

I've done that before, perhaps too many times, often in a story contest that no-one ended up caring about or didn't catch the meanings. Makes sense, seeing as no-one is going to care about the author's life.

Still, I always respected people who can merge many emotions and effects into a short piece of work. It's hard to do, and even harder to examine when it belongs to another person, however just by thinking and reflecting upon the simplest story with the most complex metaphors and allegories, you can learn a lot about yourself and life. I think there's a section in psychology that deals with something like that.

I agree Azigarath. I sometimes feel downhearted when a piece is not recognised for all of it's symbolism and messages. I guess that is just the way it is, so I know what you are feeling Yam haha. You obviously have skill in portraying your symbolism as I, simple me, managed to pick some of it up.

Thank you, Cyun. Don't worry, I'm not disheartened that you didn't see it all. I actually don't expect many people to see it all. :D

I've never heard of something psychological like that, Azi (or if I did, I forgot), but it certainly makes sense!

I've noticed I've been neglecting the "Verse" part of this thread's title. So many things to do: write a poem for a specific individual, write this month's contest entry, start (and hopefully finish) that full-length story, and now write *more* poems! At least it's summer: ;)

Ah, Yrolg, that's such a tough choice! I'm going to have to say that my favorite is "The Clock, the Board, and the Souls", as it was the first creative piece in English that I had written in nearly two years.

Thank you for your being kind enough to give some feedback. I hope you enjoy it!
