– Quirks: Yalthus has been described of being a few benedictions short of a prayer book. While he's not stupid or challenged, his brain does not exactly function in the same way as a normal person's. When Sir Aereck once tried to squeeze his horse between two support pillars in a narrow alley, he asked Yalthus “Can I make it?” (as in “Is there enough space for me to squeeze through?” ). Rather than getting the gist of what Aereck was asking, Yalthus responded, “What do you mean? I think you'll have no trouble making it to the ball next week. Oh, you mean the hors-* What followed was an hour-long fiasco of Aereck trying to get his horse out from between the pillars. Yalthus is also remarkably oblivious to certain things, which can make him awkward at times. He doesn't realize that some people hate him, and he believes that no one says anything impolite about him behind his back.

– Best Qualities: Charity, mercy, and trustworthiness; Yalthus believes that it is his duty to make the world a better place by being as kind as he can. This comes both from his devotion to the Supremacy, as well as the horrible state in which he saw some people living during his travels.

– Worst Qualities: Vanity/narcissism; While Yalthus is not completely self-absorbed, he often worries about his appearance. Sometimes, this causes his to lose his focus, as he may be more concerned about the dust on his shirt than the information his compatriot is trying to divulge. At times, his charity, mercy, and trustworthiness are also his worst qualities because they blind him to the true nature of some individuals, and – coupled with his obliviousness – can lead to him being exploited by others.

– Key Childhood Experiences: During Yalthus' and Amílcar's time in the northern provinces in 1211, Yalthus was charged by a polar bear while on a hunting trip. Fortunately, some others in the company managed to scare it away before it attacked, but the event left young Yalthus shaken. He has been terrified of polar bears ever since.

– Key Teenage Experiences: While staying in Ardounge, Yalthus spent a week living with a group of exploited serfs. Every time Yalthus sees a person in need, he is reminded of them and how they simply needed someone powerful who cared enough to step in and aid them. It is this memory that evokes his sense of compassion and charity.

– Key Adult Experiences: During his second year as a member of the Varrock City Guard, Yalthus helped to defend the city against the Horde of Night during the Shadow Uprising. Specifically, he used his skill in acrobatics to train and lead a small group of guards that used the rooftops for rapid stealthy travel through the city, not only getting them to the forefront of combat quickly and safely but giving them a strong vantage point from which to attack upon their arrival. It was this act of cleverness that attracted the attention (and later, the camaraderie) of Sir Prysin and Sir Aereck (and consequently, the hatred of Sir Falomir).

– Relationship Background: Yalthus is presently single, although there was a raven-haired girl he met during his time in Falador. They continue to write letters back and forth, although there is no longer anything serious between them. Dashing and chivalrous, he often inadvertently woos ladies of the Varrockian court, although he has yet to find anyone with whom he would like to marry.

– Favorites: The feeling of a perfectly crafted rapier in his hand; the satisfaction of beating Sir Aereck at a game of chess

– Goals: Presently, he desires to continue proving that Kharidian gentlemen make excellent soldiers. He doesn't want to rush things, so he believes maintaining his current situation would be best for that; however, he believes he can prove it more if he becomes a knight-errant of Varrock, which is his long-term goal. Becoming a knight-errant would also allow him to fulfill his goal of revisiting the lands he traveled as a boy.

– Morality / Ethics: A firm believer in the Supremacy, Yalthus believes that it is his job to make the world brighter by spreading compassion and love through everyday acts. While this may not appear to coincide with his position as a City Guard, he instead sees his position as an outlet of interaction between himself, other guards, and the people of Varrock.

– Style of Speech: He speaks with what can be equated to a Spanish accent (from earth). He can be very loud and outgoing, but his voice is also very smooth and gentle.

Well, there it is. It took way longer than I expected, so I think I've already learned something about the work that goes into a full-length story character. Sorry it took so long to get posted; the "shortly" I stated turned out to be more than I expected.

I also apologize for any typographical errors. It was hard for me to notice those in that wall of text I have.

Yes! I feel superior for being the first. If I can squeeze the time, I'll try to expand my submission, and try to continue the thread's future exercises.

Well done Yam, for being the second. I hope the thread gets a few more bios.

And I noticed a mistake, I forgot to add how Magnus becomes a Varrock guard. :/ I'll try to fix it, if I get the time.

Read your piece, Yam; liked it a lot. Very thorough, and though I have suggestions you've covered most of the bases. I'll post more thorough comments tomorrow, since I have a free day.

Azi, good to hear you're planning to stick with it. I look forward to reading the revised version, for sure.

And to both of you—since the forum's near dead and this thread isn't likely to pick up a ton of traffic, would you mind going out and evangelizing a bit? If you're members of any guilds or other organizations, a well-placed post would do wonders for visibility, and I'm sure there are people who would love to up their ranks. Only if you feel that it's genuinely worth advertising, of course. ;)
