Large barrels containing arrows were placed to aid the archers. Runecrafters were placing runes alongside the barrels to help out the mages. I looked at the runes and thought of Rose, and how I had been with her earlier. I had already planned to go and spend some time with the others before tomorrow, for that was the day we all move into position. It was also the last day we may all see each other alive.
I made haste to finish my work here in Varrock for the day, and teleported back to Draynor.

The time stood at around seven in the evening. The sun was setting, and the stall owners were packing up. Business was probably not so good today, after the attack. I was surprised that they even bothered, but then again the citizens needed their supplies. I quickly bought a few oranges from them, and returned to the house.
Rose was cooking dinner. Justin was sitting on the floor next to Yamabushi. Yamabushi had his eyes closed in meditation, Justin was apparently trying it for himself, but just looked plain bored. He saw me enter and gave me a quick wink. Jess was busy playing with a ball of wool. I looked into the kitchen to see Rose milling about, and Reanna helping out wherever possible. I was surprised at how quickly she had integrated herself as one of us.
I pulled the door all the way open, and Reanna gave me a cheerful wave. Rose also turned to greet me.
"Hello."
"I'm sorry about earlier." I said.
"It's okay, I know you were only concerned about me. Dinner will be ready soon, as usual Lydia and Kzahaar are in the garden. She's patching up his cut, the stupid moron left it open, he could have been badly hurt. It was almost as bad as yours."

I looked down at my chest, remembering the cut that Yamabushi had landed upon me. It seemed like such a long time ago now. It was now fully healed, but there was a nasty scar left behind.
I left the kitchen and returned to the main room, and sat down at the table. This was my way of life now. I come home, eat dinner. Discuss the day's events with my friends, maybe have a drink or two.
Not exactly the life of a warrior, but as I have mentioned before, I was getting used to it. It was most certainly better than crawling around dark and dirty caves hunting monsters. Even if we did survive what was to happen, Ned was sure to kick us out when he returned from sea. I have heard recently that estate agents were selling properties for as little as 1k. Perhaps when all this was over, myself and Rose could purchase a house together? No, that's silly. She wouldn't want to live with me, would she?
A plate of food clattering down before me jolted me from my thoughts. The others all sat down, and we ate together. For quite possibly the last time.

The sounds of great horns awoke me from my sleep. I quickly sat up, trying to gather my bearings. As I moved, a dull ache rang through my head.
"Oww." I moaned, scratching my head. I had decided last night that we should all have a drink together, and opened up the vodka. I had used the oranges I bought to make some juice, and we all sat up until the early hours getting rather drunk. Even Yamabushi joined in.
The result from our little session was now thumping in my head, the nasty headache that comes with a hangover.
The sounds of horns rang out once more. They were Dwarven horns, used to awaken troops and rally men together for battle. There must have been some dwarves passing through Draynor.
I looked around for my backpack, found it and pulled out the scrying orb. I tapped it a couple of times and an image appeared. It was Karamja. The Warriors of Relleka were now with the Dwarves, and were quite happily mingling in with some tribesfolk, and a few pirates from Brimhaven. This image made me smile. Never before had such a strange group of people came together for a single cause.
I turned the orb around to see the images projected from the north of Falador. The squire had indeed placed my orb in a good place, it was very high, and I could see for miles. Perhaps some towers had been constructed there as well, and he had put it in one of those.
There were battalions of White Knights, Falador Guards, Temple Knights, and to my great surprise a large amount of Black Knights. They were also kept company by elves, Ardougne Militia, mages, Relleken Warriors and a few dwarves. They were busy constructing cannons and bantering with the Elves.
Once again a smile spread across my face. It was time we all made a move ourselves. I was to go to Varrock with Rose and Lydia. Lydia was to help command the archers, and Rose was to help organise the mages. My own reason for being there was so far unclear, but King Roald had asked me to be there.

Justin and Kzahaar were to go to Karamja. I would probably send Yamabushi and Reanna to northern Falador.
I got out of bed and heard a groan from behind me. I turned to see Rose lying there fast asleep.
I stood still, trying to fathom why she was there. The sudden rush of memories that fell upon me was like being punched in the face. What happened is certainly not to be written on to paper dear reader, but let's just say the relationship between myself and Rose had very suddenly been moved to the next level.
I was unsure how to feel about it, a stupid act of drunkenness maybe, but then again they say the truth is more prominent whilst you're drunk.
I quietly threw on some clothes an sneaked out of the room and headed downstairs. All the others were already there, preparing their equipment.
Justin was wearing the big stupid grin he usually sports.
"Morning champ." He said.
"Morning." I replied, feeling sheepish.
Justin finished lacing up his boots and stood up. He picked up his axe from beside him and slung it over his shoulder. He was wearing a pair of tatty short trousers and no top.
"Karamja'* far too hot for armour." He said. "You ready Kzahaar?"
Kzahaar was wearing his full set of newly acquired armour from the Barrows. He cricked his neck and cracked his knuckles.
"I was born ready." Came the reply.
"Then let's move. You're gonna sweat like a pig wearing that though buddy."
Kzahaar removed his helm and approached Lydia. He took hold of her arms tightly.
"See you soon." He leaned down and gave her a kiss.
Kzahaar let go and left the house with Justin, heading for Port Sarim.
Lydia had a tear in her eye, and she sat down. She picked up her bow and starting messing with the string, ensuring that it was tight.
"You'd better, both of you." I heard her mumble under her breath.
Yamabushi and Reanna had also finished preparing themselves.
"Where do you think we should go?" asked Reanna.

"I want you and Yamabushi to help out in Falador."

"Consider it done." Yamabushi said. They both teleported away.
"We should make a move ourselves." Lydia said. I was about to reply when Rose done it for me. She had awoken and was walking down the stairs.
"I'm ready." she said. She looked at me with a smile, and I smiled back. Perhaps it wasn't a mistake after all.
I quickly ran around gathering my own equipment. Rune chain body, Rune legs, Warrior Helm, and my ever trusty Dragon Long Sword. Rose pointed to both myself and Lydia, and teleported us to Varrock.
There was an eerie silence in the Varrock town centre. The citizens had all taken shelter, and there was very few people about. We all headed to the castle, which had almost been completely changed for the attacks. The walls seemed almost impenetrable now, and there were platforms and towers surrounding it.
A few archers in the towers gave us a wave as we made our way to the border.
We finally reached the border, and what I witnessed was astounding.
As far as the eye could see were legions of warriors, all lined in form and ready for battle. I estimated that there were at least five thousand people lining the Wilderness border. Humans, Dwarves and Elves alike had banded together to help in this, possibly the greatest battle Runescape had seen.
I looked to the sky. Dark clouds were forming in an ominous pattern, no doubt a storm was coming. This may have been the work of Tuoni, to hinder us. The first few spots of rain started to fall.
I looked at Rose, who was busy inspecting some of the Runes that had been left about. She caught my glance and smiled. I then turned my attention to Lydia, who was busy speaking with the Elves in strange tongues. With her long blonde hair and slim physique she could have passed as an Elf herself.
A few of the men starting singing old time drinking war songs, no doubt to help keep up there morale.

Waiting was a painfully boring thing to do, especially when what you were waiting for could potentially be your death.
A few pirates from Brimhaven and Mos'le Harmless were here as well, and if anyone enjoys a good song, it's a pirate.
They started singing their own songs, so I decided to take a seat and listen in. They were certainly giving it all they had.

As I was a-walkin’ down Paradise Street, To me!
A pretty young damsel I chanced for to meet,

She was round in the corner and bluff in the bow…
So I took in all sail and cried “Way enough now”…

I threw out my hawser and took her in tow,
And yardarm to yardarm away did we go,

She said to me “Sir, will you stand the treat?”
“Delighted,” says I, “for a charmer so sweet*

It was up in her quarters she piped me aboard,
And there on her bed I cut loose with my sword,

But just as my cutter was forging ahead,
She shouted “My husband!” and jumped out of bed,

He was seven feet tall, had a chest like a horse,
And right for my jawbone he plotted his course,

He loosened my rigging, he kicked me in stays,
I flew down the stairs like a ship on the way,

I chanced on a packet that happened on by,
And when I awoke I was bound for Catherby,

So I’ll give you fair warning before we belay,
Don’t ever take heed of what pretty girls say!

I sat for a long time after they had finished with a smile on my face. They certainly knew how to keep your spirits up.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sounds of horns. I stood up, now soaking wet from the downpour that was raining heavily upon us. I looked for the source of the horn, it was being blown by an Elf inside one of the towers. I looked to the north, to finally meet what could be our undoing.
In the distance I could see a black line. This line was approaching us, slowly but surely. It was the undead army. I took out the scrying orb and peered into it.

The weather was still nice and sunny in Karamja, but the mood was not.

To the south, legions of battle ships could be seen making their way towards the mainland. Dwarves were loading up cannons in preparation. I turned the orb around to see what was happening in Falador. The scene was much the same as it was here, people could see the approaching army. The black line was starting to take shape, hordes of zombies, ghosts and skeletons could be seen.
A few generals started barking out orders, getting their men back into formation behind the wall of spears.
I looked up behind me, the platforms now being filled with archers and mages. They were all preparing their bows and readying the runes.
King Roald had appeared, with his sword drawn. He made his way out to the front of the troops, so that they all could hear him.
"I'm not one for speeches. But you all know what kind of threat this army poses to us, our families, our homes, our ways of life. Some of you may have also have heard about the origins of the Gods."
Some of the troops began mumbling amongst themselves. The generals shouted at them to keep quiet.
"Whatever their origins are," King Roald continued, "The very fact that we are here now is testament enough for me to fight. Be the Gods accidents, be they the very creators of all you see, be they the reason we live, we are alive because of them. We must fight for our lives, our freedom, our world. We shall not fail men! We shall not fail!"
The troops erupted with a renewed sense of justice and vigour. They clashed their swords and shields together and stamped their feet in a unanimous show of courage and guile.
I looked to the north again, the undead army was getting ever closer. I heard Lydia give out a few orders.
Some of the Elves that were wielding longbows let a few arrows fly. They pierced through the air, flying for what seemed like an age. They finally hit the ground, around one hundred metres from the ever approaching army.

I heard Lydia shout again, and raise her left hand. This time, every single person with a long bow armed them with an arrow and pulled the string back.
I could here mages chanting and muttering words. I looked up to see them preparing spells.
Lydia had her eyes closed, and was muttering some words. I could just make them out.
"Five, four, three, two, one......FIRE!!"
All at once the archers and Elves released their bow strings. The sky turned even darker as thousands of arrows flew through the air. At the same time the mages released their spells, and a brilliant array of magic was sent hurtling to the north.
The arrows fell onto the undead at around the same time as the spells hit. Scores of them were taken down, yet thousands more yet remained.
"AGAIN!" I heard Lydia shout, and once again arrows flew through the air, closely followed by fire, air, earth and water.
Once again the offensive torrent crashed into our foes. Scores more were put down, and the army trudged forever onwards.
"FIRE AT WILL!"
The army was drawing ever closer, to the point I could make out what they were wielding and wearing. My initial fear was right. Tuoni had reanimated the corpses of adventurers and treasure hunters, and most of the undead army were still wearing the armour they died in.
Arrows and spells continued to rain down, even after the army had smashed into the spear walls. They were only partially effective, taking down a few of them.
The generals gave the orders to charge, and so into combat we ran.
I charged into the fray, hacking away at our foes. A skeleton dived at me, and I stepped out of the way, bringing my sword down to smash it's skull. Another came at me, this time managing to hit me with a sword it was carrying. It buckled against my Rune chain mail and knocked the wind out of me, luckily enough another warrior quickly took him down. I needed to be more careful, that strike could of easily killed me.

I looked to see just how outnumbered we were. It seemed that they were at least a hundred deep.
A zombie ambled towards me, swinging it's mace. I blocked and brought my blade across it's throat. As it fell I blocked another attack, this time from another skeleton. An arrow pierced it's skull, a second later it was decimated by a fire spell.
Once again a zombie came at me, and I quickly cleaved him down. A few of our own had been taken down, and zombies were piling over them to eat their flesh. I will not let this stand! I charged in and hacked away, trying my best to pull them off the poor soul they had slain. One tried to bite me, so I removed it's head.
We were slowly being swamped down by the incredible numbers of undead, more and more of our men were being killed. The heavens were still open, and rain continued to pour down onto us, watering down the blood that was drenching the ground. Arrows and spells flew through the air, taking down what undead they could.
I quickly removed the scrying orb from my pocket and looked into it. Karamja was now under attack. I could see ships firing onto the mainland, destroying some of the cannons. The Dwarves were trying their best to maintain a constant stream of fire power, but seemed to be struggling. A few ships had been brazen enough to crash onto the beach, and landing parties had quickly descended. I could see Justin and Kzahaar cleaving away as best they could, with Rellekens and tribesmen doing their best also.
What I witnessed next was horrific. The armies that were attacking were, as expected, the remaining forces of the Veritus Vos Liberit. I thought that they would still be under mind control, but this was not the case. Just like HAM, they had been killed, and were now mindless slaves to Tuoni. This was not what was most horrific though, oh no. A gangplank had been sent to meet the sand, and quickly descending it was Narayan.

His neck was bent at a strange angle, and an arrow still lodged in his throat.
I removed my attention away from the orb, I still had matters to attend to here. I just hoped that Kzahaar and Justin would be able to handle that monster.
A zombie ran into me, knocking the orb out my hand. I cursed and brought down the undead with a cleave through it's upper body. Someone had picked up the orb and was looking into it. It was Josh.
"Things are not going well." He said.
I dodged out of the way of an attacking zombie, and prepared to strike. It was put down by a water spell however, and it fell down, still twitching.
"I know." I replied.
I looked into Josh's eyes, and once again was met by the gaze of a dragon.
"What's that?" He pointed behind me, to the North. I squinted to see what he was pointing at. I could make out a few familiar shapes in the distance. There were a growing number of them, they appeared to be flying towards us. I recognised the shapes. Dragons. The one in the centre was bigger than the rest, it had a massive wingspan, and was flanked by many other Dragons.
One of the Elven archers had spotted them.
"Dragons! By the Gods, the Dragons have chosen to attack us now! All hope is lost!"
"Concentrate your fire on them!" One of the mages called out.
"HOLD YOUR FIRE!" Josh yelled at the top of his lungs. "DO NOT FIRE AT THEM, I REPEAT DO NOT FIRE!"
Lydia was looking down at me from a platform. "What are we to do?" she asked.
I looked to the North again, the Dragons were drawing ever closer, at an incredible pace.
I remembered my battle with Elvarg, and how I felt after slaying the magnificent beast.
"DO AS JOSH SAYS, HOLD YOUR FIRE!" I yelled back.
The Dragons flew overhead at an awesome speed. I knew what the large one was, I had heard tales about it. It was the King Black Dragon. They sped off to the South, towards Varrock.
