“Sure, I’ll start looking. In the mean time, see if you can get us out of here.”
I nodded and looked at Yamabushi. “Any ideas?” I asked him, squinting in the sunlight.
“There are a few boats docked to the north side of the island, we could use those. If we head due north, we shall find Karamja. From there, we can get to the mainland.”
“Boats. Fantastic,” I moaned, and started walking towards the docks.
*What do you wish me to do?” I heard Yamabushi ask as I walked away.
“Look after the others. I shall return shortly. Help Lydia all you can.”
As I walked, I took the opportunity to study the building we had been in for what seemed like a very long time. It was built like a fort, well constructed, and very large. I began to wonder what could finance an organisation like this. There were apparently other barracks, from what The Listener said. I was beginning to think that The Veritus Vos Liberit either had some very powerful and rich allies, or knew something that the governments of Misthalin, Asgarnia or Kandarin wanted kept secret. In either case, they certainly were not making money simply through killing monsters.
After around ten minutes of walking, I eventually spied something that resembled docks, and a few boats. I broke into a run, wanting to get off this island as quickly as possible. I looked for a boat large enough to transport six people. There was a supply boat, I quickly jumped on board via the docks platform and looked around. Not many provisions, but they should suffice for the journey ahead.
I quickly opened a few boxes, looking for bandages. Unfortunately there were none, but a few robes and rags were about. I dabbed at the drying blood on my wound and wrapped a robe top around my chest. An ineffective bandage, but better than nothing. I grabbed a few more robes and some food that was lying about. I jumped off the boat and quickly made my way back to the others.

As I approached I noticed that both Kzahar and Justin had regained consciousness, and Lydia was crouched beside Rose. She was using Kzah**** dagger hilt and a large seashell as a crude pestle and mortar. She was mashing up some seaweed and other ingredients and applying them to Rose’s wounds. Yamabushi was pacing around, unable to sit still.
Justin noticed me approaching and grinned. “Hey,” he grinned, getting to his feet.
I nodded in his direction and walked over to Lydia.
“How is she?” I asked.
“We need to get her some medical attention. What I’m doing will ease her pain, but if we don’t get her to a doctor soon she could die.”
“Then we’d better get moving. Anyone hungry?”
I handed out some of the food to everyone, which was devoured pretty quickly. I had given a lobster to Lydia, but instead of eating it, she cracked it open, took some of the meat and mixed it into the seaweed.
“Alchemy isn’t just herbs and water,” she said with a smile.
After everyone had finished eating, I picked up Rose and headed back to the docks.
“I hope one of you can navigate a boat,” I shouted.
“I can,” Lydia replied, packing her equipment up and quickly catching up with us.
“You are a woman of many talents,” beamed Kzahar, slowing his pace so he could walk with Lydia, who was still limping.
“I try my best,” she said with a wink.
“What are we gonna do when we get back?” Justin asked me.
“I’m going to get Rose to the Duel Arena hospital. The doctors and nurses will be able to fix her up.”
“Then what?” asked Yamabushi.
“Well, take down the Veritus Vos Liberit I suppose,” I replied, not even sure if that was my, nay, our next step. I wondered why they were asking me, it’s not like I was a nominated leader or something.

We eventually reached the boat and boarded. Kzahar and Justin hauled up the anchor whilst Yamabushi released the sail. The boat started to move, and we were off, with Lydia at the helm.

Once again, the sea tormented me. We had been sailing for about two days, but with the constant infernal rocking of the boat it seemed to me like it was a lot longer. Lydia took a break now and then from navigating to tend to Rose. Yamabushi and Kzahar had a few deep conversations with each other, regarding their past, and more importantly, their futures. Justin and Lydia had a few arguments, as siblings do from time to time. And Lydia and Kzahar seemed to be bonding, which was about time, in my opinion.

After the third day at sea, we finally caught sight of Karamja. I’d never thought I’d be glad to see the thick jungles and volcano, but it was as close to heaven as we could get right then. Lydia suggested that rather than docking at Karamja, we should head to Port Sarim. This was a good idea, we would be closer to The Duel Arena, and would only add another twelve hours onto the journey. We all agreed.

We finally docked, after nearly four days at sea. The provisions thankfully lasted us, and we were all in reasonable health, apart from Rose. The second the gangplank was laid out, I ran across and started to make my way to the Duel Arena. The others were in hot pursuit, equally concerned for her safety. She had been unconscious for days now, and desperately needed some medical attention.
We made our way through Draynor, then Lumbridge.
The running was taking its toll on me, carrying Rose whilst running all that way was no mean feat, but I struggled on regardless.

We reached the gates of Al Kharid, the guards nodded and opened the gates as I approached. I had done them a favour a few months back, bribing them was no longer necessary. The heat of the desert beamed down onto us as we finally reached the hospital. What happened next was a blur, all I remember was nurses coming to our aid, taking Rose from me, and hands grabbing at the robes that covered my chest.

I awoke three days later in a hospital bed. Everything was blurred, I couldn’t make anything out. I heard a familiar voice speak out.
“Finally, I thought your lazy hide was never going to come around.” It was Justin, I looked towards him, my vision still hazy.
“Shut up,” I said wearily, and closed my eyes again. I heard him laugh and get to his feet.
“That cut of yours, it was worse than we thought, you needed some heavy duty stitching. You should be fine though. It’ll leave an impressive scar.”
“How is Rose?”
“She’s okay. You got her here just in time, hero boy! The doc’s have patched her up nice, good as new.”
I opened my eyes again, my vision was a little better this time. I sat up and felt my chest. Heavy duty stitching was right, there were loads of them. I looked about. Busy nurses were ferrying about combatants, Saradomin only knows why these women put up with us adventurers.
“Where are the others?” I asked.
“Lydia and Kzahar have gone out somewhere together, for a walk or summat, I don’t know. That Yamabushi guy is meditating somewhere. He’s a weird one. We’ve been talking. We have decided to make a pact and stick together, we should all take down those cultists together, you with us?”
“Like you even need to ask.”
“Good lad.”
“Dunno when we can make a move though, I’m a little banged up right now, and I want to make sure Rose is okay before we go anywhere.”

“That’s cool, we are all going to take a little break, say about a month, then make a move. Yamabushi needs to leave sooner though, he is going to report back to The Protagonist and tell him that we are all dead. That should leave his daughter safe, 'cos the Protagonist will still think his little organisation is a secret.”
I nodded in agreement and got out of bed. My legs felt weak, and I could feel the stitches pulling slightly as I moved. A nurse gave me a disapproving look as she walked past.
I walked over to Rose’s bed and moved her hair away from her eyes, which slowly opened.
“Hello,” she said weakly.
“Hi. How are you feeling? You’ve been through a lot.”
“I’m okay. I heard about Jonathon.”
I said nothing. Hell, I had nothing to say.
*It’s ok, I’ll get over it. He wasn’t my brother anymore anyway. At least I still have my memories of him, back when he was a good person. If I treasure those, that’ll be okay, wouldn’* it?”
“Yes.*
I took her hand and she gripped tightly, tears now flowing from her eyes.
“Do me one thing,” she sobbed.
“Anything,” I replied. Strange thing was, I actually meant it.
“Kill the Protagonist. Make him suffer, like I have. Avenge my brother, and take them all down, please do these things for me.”
“You have my word,” I said, truthfully. A nurse came over.
“She needs to rest, leave her be!”
I let go of Rose’s hand and headed back to my own bed. I sat down with one thing on my mind, revenge. I, with my new found friends, had to take down an organisation that has historic roots, as well as some kind of funding from powerful sources unknown. No easy task you may argue dear reader, but you know as well as I do, that would never stop me anyway.

HONORIS CAUSA

I peered through the tiny hole that could barely pass off as a window. My aim was steady, and I awaited the arrival of Grip. Lydia had recently taught me a few things about ranging, and I could now wield a Magic Bow, along with Blue Dragon Hide Armour. Not the best available, but good enough for the job I was so close to completing.
The doorway that lead into the room I was looking into opened, and a man in full black armour clattered into view. The man was Justin, and he clearly was uncomfortable in armour.
He awkwardly fumbled about, trying to gain the attention of Grip. He crouched down and started to fumble about in a drawer. I heard a rough voice shout out.
“Hey, what do you think you are doing?”
“Ummm..well, umm…”
Grip stormed into the room, and I released the Mithril tipped arrow I had prepared for him. It caught him in the arm, curses.
“Oh my...what? How? I’ve got a blasted arrow in my arm? How the hell did that happen?”
Justin was laughing his head off at all this, not that I could blame him, it was turning into a complete *****-up.
I cursed under my breath and quickly loaded another arrow and released. This one found it’s mark, I had aimed for his chest. The arrows I was using were coated in a toxin, designed to shut down the victim’s motor-neuro and mental functions. The shot that found his arm was not efficient enough to render him paralysed, hence my second shot. It has pierced near his heart, and the toxin was quickly pumped around his blood stream.
“Pull it out,” I yelled to Justin, who was still ambling around in his awkward armour. He crouched down and removed the arrow. Grip would survive, but awake with a rather nasty headache, and of course a wounded arm and chest. But he would survive.
Justin removed the arrow from Grip’s arm, and quickly searched him for keys. He pulled them out and disappeared.
I turned back to the secret wall through which I entered and pushed.

Those guard dogs where still there, but a few well-placed kicks taught them who was boss. I made my way into The Shrimp & Parrot pub, through the kitchen and back into the main bar. I nodded towards Alfonse the waiter as I left.
I heard the sound of Justin vs. a wooden door, and he smashed his way through the entrance to Scar Face Pete’s house, holding two pairs of candlesticks. He threw off his helm and chucked me one of the sets of candlesticks.
“Run!” he shouted as a plethora of guards came rushing through the door he just bust through.
I ran alongside him, through the gate that lead into Brimhaven, and past the volcano.
“Can’t you just do things quietly??” I asked.
“You know me, loud and proud!” he replied, looking back at the pursuing guards. They were all quite angry.
“Teleport to Varrock!” I yelled, and activated the spell myself.
I had also been taught a few things about magic, and I could now muster a few teleport spells. Well, to be fair, I could already teleport, my magic knowledge was sufficient, I just didn’t know much about the wonderful Law runes.
Allow me to fill you in on some of the things that have happened since the events concerning the Veritus Vos Liberit. Two months had now passed since we left the island, we were awaiting word from Yamabushi to make a move. He had returned to where the Protagonist resides, another island 60 miles as the bird flies due east from where we were all kept prisoner. He was due to return any day now with a plan of action.
During this time, my comrades and myself decided to get in a little training. Rose had made a full recovery, though she never spoke of what The Listener had done to her. She had become an apprentice in the Wizards Tower, and was on her way to becoming an accomplished mage. She had already surpassed the rest of us. She also took it upon herself to learn a little about alchemy, to which Lydia was glad to help her with.

Lydia was being taught a little hand to hand combat techniques from Kzahar, she could now competently wield a dagger and a short sword. Lydia had also taught me a little about ranging, as I mentioned earlier. Her skills were invaluable, especially recently. I shall come to that in a moment though. Justin still believed the best way through a door was THROUGH a door, but he had been convinced to learn a little about agility and stealth, and although his actions were still brash, his training was becoming evident.
Kzahar had also decided to learn the fundamentals of alchemy, and had also spent some time with the Monks of Entrana. His time there had brought him closer to the spirits, well, that’* what he said anyway.

I mentioned in my last entry that I had received an invitation to the Guild of Heroes. I had taken it upon myself to accept the invitation, and the collection of a Master Thief black armband was the final step in achieving entry to the guild. I had recently managed to pick up a firebird feather from the strange red chicken on Entrana. This was achieved by defeating the Ice Queen deep below White Wolf Mountain and taking her gloves, which were made of pure ice, everlasting. Lydia was invaluable during this, she kept the Ice Queen’s guards at bay.
The second phase was to retrieve a lava eel and cook it. This was also difficult, I had to mix up a fire proof potion and apply it to a fishing rod, then traverse the unforgiving caves beneath Taverly. It was Kzahar that accompanied me on this journey, keeping baby blue dragons at bay. Baby or otherwise, they were vicious little gits. I managed to finally catch a lava eel however, and successfully cooked it. And now, I had what was necessary to claim possession of the Black Arm Band of master thieves.

The banana trees of Karamja melded into the statue that dominated Varrock Central Square. We had arrived in Varrock. I looked about, trying to locate Justin. He was behind me, taking off his armour. He smirked at me.
"Good thing I'm in the Black Arm gang huh?"
I smiled back. "Too right, buddy. Thanks for your help."
"No worries. I'm gonna head back to Draynor. See you there."
Justin cast aside the last of his armour and quickly ran off.
I turned around and ran to the Phoenix Gang compound, on the southern edge of Varrock.
Straven smiled as I approached. "Wow, nicely done!"
I gave him the candlesticks and he handed over the Black Armband. I quickly slipped it on, gave Straven a salute and teleported to Falador.

The brilliant white walls appeared before me, and I made my way to the bank. I withdrew the cooked eel and the now-cooled fire feather. Achetties will be pleased. You may ask the reason why I have decided to enter the guild, especially when I have issues like the Veritus Vos Liberit to deal with. Well, the Guild sells more powerful weapons that we currently had possession of, for example the Dragon Battle Axe. The Guild also has The Fountain of Heroes, which can be used to recharge Glory Amulets. These in turn can teleport us to places that normal spells cannot. These tools will help us in the fight against our enemies.
I quickly ran north to the guild, and approached Achetties, gasping for air. I'd done a lot of running today, and was starting to feel hungry as well. I couldn't wait til I returned back to Draynor, and eat a meal prepared by Rose. As well as her mage duties, she was becoming quite the chef.
"Welcome to the Guild of Heroes," Achetties said, and took the items from me. She opened the door, and I walked inside. Just as I thought, big and expensive looking. The grand tour could wait however, as I said earlier, I was hungry and tired. I had bought an uncharged Glory Amulet from another adventurer a few weeks ago. Now was a good a time as any to charge it, I hopped down the ladder leading into the caves below the guild. There were a few bats flying around, and a rather large blue dragon kept behind a cage. I counted my blessings and quickly ran past it. I reached the Fountain, took off my Amulet and dipped it into the water. The Amulet glowed, a new power coursing through. I rubbed it, and thought of Draynor. A moment later I appeared there. It worked, perfect. I made my way back to our makeshift home, looking forward to a nice meal. It was unfortunate that we would have to set off soon, I was getting used to this way of life.
