The horrid smell of rotting flesh filled my nostrils, and I nearly gagged. I was losing my grip, the disgusting greasy skin of my attacker was getting harder to hold.
In an instant it's weight vanished, and it was pulled away from me. I looked up to see another adventurer drag the zombie away from me. I quickly examined him. He had short brown hair, and boyish looks. He seemed to be in his early twenties. His weapons were most interesting, they were claws made from Runite. He looked at me as he dragged the zombie away, and what I saw in his eyes put the fear of the Gods into me.
I had seen this before, in one of my previous foes, Elvarg. His eyes were like that of a dragon! What kind of person was this? He stopped dragging the zombie and started striking away, aiming to finish it off. His hands moved at an incredible pace, they blurred as the zombie was turned into a mushy pulp.
"Thanks," I managed.
He turned to look at me.
"Don't mention it," he replied. "My name is Josh, when we have finished we shall talk. You and I have much to discuss."
I got up and quickly got back to work. This was tiring, especially after the events of earlier.
One thing was bothering me though, I still had not seen any sign of Rose.
I decided that it must wait, at least until we had this attack under control.

I readied my blade once again.

As I prepared to enter the fray once more, I noticed some movement in the reflection of my sword. I turned around to see flowing blue and gray robes running into Draynor.
The Wizards of the Wizards Tower had come to our aid, firing off deadly spells with lethal accuracy. I recognized the dull green glow that was flowing from them, it was the Crumble Undead spell. At least these guys came prepared.
Our aged yet skillful comrades quickly ripped the HAM zombies apart. I looked for Rose amongst them, and finally caught sight of her. She seemed as able as her peers, and was deftly casting spells like an old master.
She saw me, and gave me a quick wave. I sheathed my sword and waved back, allowing the Wizards to do all the hard work. Rotten flesh and undead body parts were flying all over the place in a surreal and macabre display. The brilliant flashes of light eventually put an end to the attack, and Rose approached me.
“Hi!” she said, tucking some of hair behind her ears.
*I told you to rest,” I replied, a little more harshly than I had intended.
She frowned and looked at me. Her dark eyes locked with mine. “Um, zombies? I think they are a little more important than me catching forty winks.”
“I suppose so,” I grumbled, realizing that I must have sounded like an idiot.
“When I returned, I did intend to go get some rest, but soon after we noticed that something wasn’t right. I came outside to see some HAM members walking around, trying to grab people. I saw one of their faces and knew what was happening. I ran to the Wizards Tower, and, well, I suppose you know the rest.”
“Okay, I’m sorry,” I relented, trying my best to sound humble.
Justin approached us, with his new axe hauled over his shoulder.
“Hey, pal, how goes it?” he asked with a hearty grin. He clapped my arm with one of his big hands as he spoke. It hurt like hell.
“I’m fine thanks, Justin, what about you?”

“Yeah, I’m okay. Thanks to this axe you got me. Got some good news and bad news though.”
“What might that be?” I asked.
“Good news, the Dwarves will help us. They are already shipping machinery to Varrock and Karamja as we speak. The bad news is, the Tzhaar will not help. They say that the goings-on of the ground dwellers is of no concern to them.”
I shook my head. This was indeed bad news, I had hoped that they would help. If we had more time I would have gone and seen them myself, to try and convince them that after Tuoni was done with us, they too would die. Looks like that was a lesson they may have to learn the hard way.
“So be it,” I replied sadly.
Justin nodded with a smile and walked away. Always smiling, despite all that was happening. I wished I had Justin’s resolve. I turned my attention back to Rose, who looked as miserable as I did.
“Smile,” I said, trying too myself. It wasn’t easy.
She smirked and walked away. Better than nothing, I suppose.
I looked to the sky. The storm that seemed to be so close earlier had dissipated, and sunlight was now breaking through the clouds. It must have been around two or three in the afternoon. I wondered how long I had left to enjoy the sun’s rays. Was our cause truly hopeless? Was Tuoni right, should we all just give in?
Reanna interrupted my thoughts.
“Not quite the best way of being introduced to everyone, but I guess a nice big fight will have to suffice.”
“You also revel in battle?” I asked. Stupid question really, the sheer size of her arms and the skill she displayed whilst fighting the undead made it clear to me battle and conflict was in her nature.
“Sure do,” she replied, and started fumbling around in her pocket. She withdrew a bandana, and tied it into place upon her head. I noticed that she wasn’t wearing any armour. A strange choice, given the trials she was going through when I met her earlier.

“Do you not wear armour?” I asked.
“Nope, it only slows me down. I can’t be hit anyway.”
I laughed to myself. “You can’t be hit? Look at your arms! I’d wager that it would be harder to miss you than to hit!”
Reanna looked pleased with this. She started flexing her arms, “you like em? My most prized possessions, closely followed by my babies.”
“Babies?” I asked, shocked.
“Yeah!” She tapped the black blades she had sheathed upon her flanks.
I smiled to myself, thankful that this woman didn’t actually have any children. “You’d get on well with Justin.” I said, pointing to the man himself. He was busy dragging corpses about. It seemed that we were just going to throw them back into the HAM hideout for now, and give them all a proper burial later. What a sad state of affairs it was, no time to grieve the dead, no time to bury them properly.
“He’s not my type,” Reanna said, with a wry smile. “Too much muscle. I can’t get with any man that is stronger than me, I won’t have it!”
I wasn’t actually aiming to set her up with anyone, I thought that there were more pressing matters at hand, but I decided to leave it at that.
“What's next then?” she asked. Curse Brundt for leaving me with this woman. She seemed a little too clingy for my liking. Like she always needed to be around someone.
“I don’t know. Help out with the clean up I guess. Once that’s done, I want you to go to Falador and help with the forces there. I’m judging by your arms you’ve done some smithing before.”
“I can make a full set of Adamantine armour, no problem!” she declared proudly.
“Good. You will assist the smithies. They have a lot to do, and little time to do it.”
“Oh, okay. Will anyone be with me?”
I sighed, getting frustrated. “I’ll send Yamabushi with you. I must warn you though, he doesn’t like talking, and he likes listening even less.”
“No problemo!” Reanna replied, gave me a false salute and wandered off.

I looked around for the young lad who had helped me earlier, Josh if my memory served me. I caught sight of him, and quickly approached. Time to find out what this guy knew, and what the hell was up with those dragon-like eyes and lightning fast fists.
Josh looked at me as I approached.
“I owe you one.” I said.
“Don’t worry about it.” He replied. His eyes seemed normal now, nothing like earlier.
“You said that we have things to discuss?”
“Correct. Allow me to formally introduce myself. My name is Josh. I have heard about what is happening, and I am here to offer my assistance.”
Assistance? This seemed strange, everyone was to offer their help, if not for our sakes then for their own. All of our lives were at stake here. Josh seemed to have read my thoughts, and continued.
“I have been sent by the Temple Knights. I’m sure you are aware of the technology they possess. We wish to extend this technology to yourselves, for use in the battles ahead." I had indeed heard of the Temple Knights, and their technology.
“What do you have in mind?” I asked.
“I currently have in my possession a number of scrying orbs. Are you aware of what they can do?”
“Yes, they transmit images from one orb to another.”
“Correct. Using these you will be able to see how the battles are going at all the key points. I am also authorized to tell you that a battalion of Temple Knights will assist in the battles, they are preparing as we speak.”
“This is fantastic news, I can’t thank you enough.” I said.
Josh nodded. “Changing the subject, I take it you looked into my eyes earlier, when I finished off that zombie.”
“Yes, what was that about?”

“Three years ago I was training against green dragons in the wilderness. I was doing well, when out of the blue a clan attacked me. I was struck unconscious and left for dead. I awoke to find myself in a brilliantly lit cave. This cave was filled with dragons. I thought I was done for, especially seeing as one approached me. I’d never seen a dragon like this one, she had brilliant white scales and dark purple eyes.”
This was indeed strange. White dragons? I was starting to think that maybe Josh had been dropped on his head as a child, but seeing as I had already witnessed his power, I decided to hear him out.
“What happened then?”
“She spoke to me. I had been granted grace, another chance in life, for my time had not yet come to pass. She told me that the mercy of dragons is rare, and to be granted their power is even rarer. She then opened her massive mouth, exposing her teeth. She bit into me, but there was no pain. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, I was back with the green dragons. However, none of them attacked me. They let me move amongst them and eventually leave as if I was one of them.
Ever since this, my speed and strength has increased. I can attack with the ferocity and speed of a dragon, but why this power was granted to me, I don’t know. Perhaps one day…”
A weird story indeed, but I believed Josh. Having witnessed the majesty and grace of dragons myself, I knew that they possessed incredible and strange powers.
“Anyway, now you know. I must depart for now, but take these.”
Josh handed me three orbs, about the size of oranges.
“Place them were you deem appropriate, I’m sure they’ll help.”
“Thanks Josh.”
Josh nodded and sprinted off towards Falador.
I walked into the bank to find that they hadn't been spared from the attack. A few zombies littered the floor, and the bank tellers where milling about trying to clean up.

"Is it possible to access my account?" I asked.
One of the tellers looked up at me. "Sure, what do you need?"
I withdrew my Dragon Long Sword, Rune Chainbody and Rune Legs and a few runes. I quickly put the armour on. I had recently purchased another Platebody to replace the one that Yamabushi broke during our fight. Although it offered more protection than the Chainbody, my movements were restricted. The Chainbody alleviated this.
I rubbed my Amulet of Glory and thought of Karamja. In an instant the hot sun beamed down onto me, and I felt the sticky humid air. I could hear monkeys and snakes going about their business. I hoped that they wouldn't mind me going about mine. They certainly didn't mind all the dwarves that were running around with machinery. They were constructing cannons on the coast. A few of the dwarves nodded in my direction, it seemed they weren't entirely ignorant of who I was.
I headed to the south east, towards the coast. I looked out onto the horizon to see the ocean meet the sky. It was beautiful, and once again I wondered how much time I had left to witness the wonders of our world.
I looked around for a suitable place to put the Scrying Orb Josh had given me. I shimmied up a tree to get a good vantage point, only to realize the tree itself was as good a place as any. I placed the Orb down and tapped it a couple of times. An image flickered into view, the inside of my backpack. It worked, perfect.
I jumped down and took a final look around. I took in a deep breath and teleported to Falador.
White walls surrounded me, and I turned around to see the statue of Saradomin smiling down at me. I took a quick look around. People were running around with a much greater urgency than earlier. Word of the Draynor attack must have reached the people here.

They were buying food and supplies to take with them to shelter, and the White Knights were starting to file outside the gates, most likely preparing to march to the north east, to the wilderness border. Smithies were carrying around ores of various kinds and smelting them into the nearby furnace. I could hear the sound of hammer versus metal, as armour and weapons alike were being created. Fletchers were also very busy, chopping down trees, cutting the wood into arrow shafts and eventually creating arrows.
With a renewed sense of urgency, I ran to the south towards the White Knight Castle. I met the squire in the courtyard.
"Hello there." He said as I approached.
"Hi. Tell me squire, will you be marching with the Knights?"
"Of course, I will be helping carry some of the equipment as well as looking after the morale of the Knights."
"Perfect, I need you to do me a favour. Take this orb with you. When you reach the border, place it onto the highest point you can find."
The squire took the orb from me with a curios look on his face. He looked into the orb, and a look of surprise spread across his face.
"Hey, is this Karamja? Me and the missus have always wanted to go there. Well, Brimhaven to be exact. I love hot weather, don't you?"
"Yes squire. Now will you do this favour for me?"
"Oh, yeah sure. No problem."
"Thanks." I walked away, back towards the town centre. As I got there, Reanna and Yamabushi appeared before me.
"Oh, hello!" Reanna said with an excited tone. "We're going to help make armour, just liked you asked."
Reanna skipped away towards the bank, no doubt to withdraw some ore.
"Why have you put me with this woman? What did I ever do to you?" asked Yamabushi.
"Sorry friend, she seems to like company. You need to brush up on your conversation skills anyway, and I'm sure Reanna will help you out with that."
Yamabushi grunted and walked away.
I teleported to my penultimate stop for the day, Varrock.

The atmosphere of Varrock was much the same as Falador, if not even more urgent. The people here knew just how important Varrock was. It is essentially the centre of Runescape, people come here from miles around to visit the castle, see King Roald and to trade goods.
The reasons behind people's visits this time was entirely different however, they were preparing for war. The sound of hammers smithing materials rang out as loudly as it did in Falador, and the fletchers were busy here too.
Despite all that was happening, there was a strange feeling in the air. The feeling that despite our doom could potentially be very soon, we would all go down fighting, together.
I looked around to take in what would normally be an extraordinary sight. A massive contingent of Elves were arriving in Varrock, flanked by Dwarves. Relleken Warriors and White Knights were busy running around helping out preparing weapons and armour.
Many citizens had themselves stopped to witness the arrival of the Elves, they had most likely never seen these elegant folk with their own eyes.
The Varrock Militia was greeting them as they arrived, and showing them to the castle, which had not been ignored for the preparations. The walls were being garrisoned with platforms and bolstered with reinforced concrete, a few archers were inspecting the work of the construction men. They seemed impressed, the new platforms would provide decent vantage points.
"It's going well isn't it?"
I turned around to the voice that had spoken out. An adventurer stood before me. He was tall, and rather stocky. He was wearing some rather strange black garments, and had a two handed Rune sword sheathed upon his back. He had a bottle of clear liquid in his left hand, and he took a swig. His face grimaced for a second as some of the fluid dripped from his mouth.

"Yes, I'm actually starting to think we can win this." I replied, wondering who this man was.
"Whatever happens, I'll be too drunk to care." Came the retort.
I eyed the man with disdain.
"You do not care for our futures then? What is your name?"
"My name is Boris, not that it is any of your business. And I do care, I just know when a cause is hopeless."
"Hopeless or not, I will not go down without a fight. It's the only chance we have."
Boris stepped right up to me, and looked me in the eyes. I could now smell what he was drinking, vodka. I know the Gnomes occasionally use vodka for their own drinks, but drinking it neat certainly wasn't a good idea.
"So be it. I'll see you on the battlefield, where we shall meet our fate. If I were you though, I'd get some of this inside you. Numbs the pain."
Boris reached inside his backpack and withdrew another bottle of vodka and handed it to me. He turned on his heels and walked away. I stood watching him for a while, his drunken version of walking humorous yet sad. I put the vodka into my backpack, I certainly will drink some of it, but not yet.

For the next few hours I aided Varrock in the preparations. I had done a bit of smithing in my time myself, and could make a full steel set, and a few mithril weapons. Fletching was not my forté however, but did I help carry some quivers to the castle.
The entire rear section of the castle had been transformed, new spear walls had been built. New platforms and towers raised. The walls here had also been reinforced. A number of Elves were scaling the towers with their acrobatic skills. I often wondered why this race had been graced with such beautiful attributes, and wished I was as nimble as them.
