you can easily find all those information by following four steps:
1) talk to the wise old man to learn about deities and heroes
2) read the history of runescape of course (manual --> miscellaneous)
3) find in the god letters the story of the mahjarrat (i don't remember the N°)
4) read the novel: 'tumeken's dream' available in the lores section of the website
not that hard, is it ?
NOTE: I checked some fansites too to know what they say. Some pieces of information are true, some are false. BEWARE! also when you come across strange info on fansite, it's always good to verify in runescape ^^. you search a bit, sometimes like a quest, but you are sure whether it's true or not
