“Presuming what you're telling me is true, there's still one major problem with all this,” said Seth, “I've lost all my power since that incident; I'm sure you know what I'm talking about... and there's no way that I would be accepted as the Sun King without my power.”

“You've lost far less power than you think,” replied Seima, “But the power that you did lose will be restored to you once you take your birthright.”

“My birthright?” questioned Seth, “What do you mean by that?”

“So you haven't noticed?” asked Seima, “Perhaps you should look around more closely.”

Puzzled, Seth did as she instructed and was surprised to find a sword stabbed into the floor right in front of the throne.

The sword was unlike any Seth had seen before; the hilt was made of fine gold, and embedded within it was a large, white, luminescent gem. The blade itself was a radiant gold reminiscent of the sun itself.

“That is your birthright,” said Seima, “The blade of the Aither, the symbol of the authority vested in the Sun King.”

Normally, Seth would've been more suspicious of the claims Seima made, but something about the blade called out to him; somehow he knew that it was meant for his hand and his hand alone. He had made his way to the blade and was reaching out to grab the hilt when Seima said, “If you try to take that blade, you will be subjected to Aither's test. Are you ready for that, Elior?”

“Who do you take me for?” he retorted, “Of course I am ready for Aither's test.” Saying this, he closed his hand on the hilt, and a brilliant orb of light hid him from view. "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."

“And so his test begins,” Seima commented to herself, “And we must also hurry.” Turning to Liam she smiled and said, “Liam, it is time these were returned to you.” Holding out her hands, Seima revealed a small pile of violet crystals that she was carrying.

“Those are my memories!” Liam exclaimed in recognition.

“In a way, they are, and in a way they aren't,” said Seima.

“What do you mean?” questioned Liam.

“These memories belonged to you, before you were Liam,” explained Seima, “They are the memories which you gained a Mephos Nidhogg.”

“Mephos?” Liam repeated, “Are you saying that I'm...”

“Not quite,” interrupted Seima, “How should I explain it... You, Liam, are the body and soul of Mephos, but you are not exactly Mephos... while Mephos, you stripped yourself of your experiences by separating your mind and heart from yourself.”
“Actually, you could view this as a unique opportunity,” added Seima, “In order to become the person he was, Mephos took his own set of choices, some of which he later regretted; right now, you are the same as you were in the many years before you made those choices. If you choose, you can release yourself from those choices and hardships you endured and continue your life as Liam Nidhogg.”

“This is why we said in order for Mephos to revive, you’d have to sacrifice yourself,” added Ayumu, “Liam, right now you are innocent of everything Mephos did, and have been spared everything he endured; and he did endure a lot. No one will hold it against you if you choose not to reclaim everything that made you Mephos.”

“No one except Setkul,” Tyr added, drawing an angry look from Ayumu. "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."

“But isn’t that the same as running away?” asked Liam, “I don’t know what I did as Mephos, nor what experiences I went through. But if I turn my back on all that, isn’t it the same as lying to myself, as pretending to be someone I’m not? Mephos’ memories, experiences, and even his sins… they are a part of me as certainly as this soul and body are mine, to deny them is the same as denying myself, and that is something I cannot accept!”

“You haven’t changed at all,” laughed Tyr, “Stubbornly insisting that your experiences were an integral part of you, even as the pain from them threatened to overwhelm you.”

“More importantly, your satisfied, aren’t you Aion?” asked Seima.

“Aion?” repeated Liam, turning to the boy as he was addressed.

“Yes,” said Seima, “He was worried you wouldn’t want him back.” Smiling at Liam’s confused expression, she added, “You’ll be returning to your true form now, won’t you Aion?”

“Yes,” replied Aion, ‘It was fun, but I’ve been on my own for long enough… it’s time to go back.”

With these words, a flurry of flower petals filled the room where Aion was standing, and in his place was a heart, suspended in a dark mist.

“When you were near death, you split yourself in three in order to escape,* Seima explained, “One of these was your mind, holding all your knowledge and your memories, that is, the logical part of your experiences; another part was your heart, holding the emotional part of your experiences, as well as your power; and finally, your soul and body which were left behind by the other two. However, your heart would not remain idle, it became a construct, acting as its own person… that was Aion. "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."

Now he has returned to his true form, and as a result, we have all three components that make you; your body and soul, as Liam, your memories, and your heart. This is your last chance to step down, Liam, if you go any further, you will be restored as Mephos, you will inherit your rightful power, your knowledge, and your experiences both painful and pleasant… my understanding being that the former outweighed the latter. Are you sure about this?”

“I already answered that, Seima,” Liam replied, “It’s time for me to return to the way I was.”

With these words, the crystals holding Mephos’ memories, and the heart that had been Aion both began to glow. Flying from Seima’s hands, they entered Liam’s body, which was immediately surrounded by dark mist.

*It could take several minutes for his mind and heart to reunite,” Seima observed, “In the meantime, there is somewhere I need to be, but… well, I’m sure you noticed.”

“We did,” answered Ayumu.

“Noticed what?” questioned Hekate.

“Will you need my help?* asked Seima.

“Who do you think we are?” asked Ayumu, “This will be easy for Tyr and me, you go and hurry up with whatever it is you need to do.”

“Very well,” replied Seima, “I’ll leave this to you two then, but don’t underestimate them.”

As Seima vanished in a streak of darkness, Tyr turned to Ayumu and said, “You know, it would’ve been far more efficient if we had allowed her to help.”

“Probably,” Ayumu admitted, “But you see, I*** been keeping an eye on Liam while you were out gathering his memories. Because of that, I haven’t been able to really let loose in a fight for a long time.”

“As violent as ever,” sighed Tyr, “Between you and Katsu I don’t know how we survived this long.”

“Good leadership, and mutual bonds of friendship,* said a girl’s voice.

Both of the boys turned to Hekate, who shook her head.

“Seriously, you two did*’t notice me?” questioned a china doll standing near the mist that had engulfed Liam. “Are you both losing your touch?” "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."

“Oh, what a beautiful doll,” exclaimed Hekate, picking it up.

“It’s good to see I haven’t lost my touch at least,” said the doll, smiling.

“Ah, thought so,” commented Tyr, “Di, that’s you, right?”

“About time you showed up,* said Ayumu, “But when did you become a girl, Diarmaid and did you shrink? I remember you being a bit taller.”

“Your sense of humor hasn’t improved I see,” sighed the doll. Turning to Hekate, it added, “Thank you for the compliment, if you’ll take care of it, you can have this doll when we’re done here.” Turning back to Ayumu, the doll said, “And just so you know, I’ve been busy too, increasing the size of Mephos’ army. If you want to complain to someone about being lazy, complain to Katsu and Fran, they never pull their own weight.”

“Well, speaking of pulling one’s own weight, you wanna help us with these things?” asked Ayumu.

“The three ancient demons heading for the palace?” asked the doll, “I don’t know how much help I’ll be, this is the only doll I have nearby, and it wasn’t made for combat. Besides, there are a whole bunch of sleeping Deva around, this should be right up your alley, Ayumu.”

“I agree,” said Tyr, “Ayumu, this field is to your benefit; Dia and I will follow your lead.”

Looking at Tyr and the doll, Ayumu smiled, shook his head and said, “Figures, leaving all the hard work to me.” "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. That's one of the most confusing- yet coolest- adds I've seen so far.

EDIT: Might I suggest you take a look at that fourth quote? To me, it seems like something that would do well in your story.

Well now, it seems that things are picking up much more quickly than they did in weapons of destiny 1.0. I wonder if it will last to another story. I hope you aren't planning on ending it just because you don't have the time to add much.

Anyway, good add, yes I saw both Seth and Mephos reawakening as something probably about to happen. Knowing you, you might have prolonged it had I said anything though.

I am in favor of a Q&A. I just need to think of some decent questions. Hmmm. I just thought of something...Orcris got a gift from Amethyst and Ruby. I remember distinctly what it was but I'm not sure how to describe it; however with things as they are now it doesn't seem to be doing very much ha. Some major powers have returned and I'm wondering if Zaros return is even possible now. By no means am I saying it is hopeless, but realistically it is getting much more complicated if nothing else. Things may happen in such a way that it will be easier than it would have been but you can never tell, guess we will find out.

Can't wait for the next add.
