The lady reached out her arms, and shadows mixed with silver light covered the entire of the village. Wounds vanished as if they had never been, broken limbs were mended, and most surprisingly, the corpses of the Deva soldiers that the Zarosians killed were made whole and begin to stir.

“Who the hell are you?!” shouted Thomas, “There is no way that this is actually happening! Not even the strongest of the warlock lords can perform such a feat!”

“You already know me, Thomas,” replied the lady, “And once you remember who I am, I think you'll realize that this is actually happening.” With these words, the lady let the cloak fall, allowing Thomas to get a good look at her. Long, silver hair cascaded down her shoulders, and soft, wine-red eyes stared at him from a pale, beautiful face.

As she had predicted, Thomas recognized her, and as he did so, a sound similar to that a dying animal makes escaped him.

“Why are you here?” Thomas screamed, “Amatsu didn't say you were in Muspellheim! You can't.... I won't let you...” muttering incoherently he began casting any offensive spell that could come to mind; fireballs pummeled the land, lightning fell from the clear, blue sky, tendrils and claws rose from the ground and slashed at the lady. But none of these seemed able to touch her. Finally, she spoke. “If there is any good in you, as I think there is, this will not kill you,” she told the warlock, “But, it will be excruciating for one who has committed countless atrocities. It is my hope you learn from it, for a far worse fate awaits you if you remain obstinate in causing suffering...”

Amatsu sat at his lunch, enjoying a glass of chilled wine as he waited for Dantelion to report that the attack had been launched on Stork Capital. Sensing a message being sent to him magically, he smiled, expecting Dantelion. He was therefore surprised when the image appearing before him was not the demon, but rather an flickering shape about the size of a human. As he stared at this figure, it called out to him with a voice Amatsu recognized.

Gasping, the warlock looked at the figure more closely, and was barely able to make out Thomas being consumed by black and silver flames. Thomas collapsed shortly thereafter, still engulfed in the unusual flames.

Amatsu had seen these flames before, and seeing them here, his face paled considerably, and the crystal wine glass fell from his numb fingers, shattering on the ground. Amatsu didn't even notice, he simply made the image of Thomas disappear and sat down, staring out into space.

He recovered quickly. Thomas had been a long way away from the main part of the army, so even this incident didn't mean his plans were in jeopardy, at least not yet. But he would have to hurry, and of course, coming to Thomas' aid, as the warlock had no doubt intended, was out of the question. No longer feeling relaxed, Amatsu began to pace about inside his tent, impatiently waiting for Dantelion to contact him.

“We wasted a good half-hour there,” sighed Tyr.

“Which means we have plenty of time to reach our destination,” the lady pointed out.

“I suppose, you still have the item we're delivering?”

“Yes,” replied the lady, holding out several dark violet crystals, “The last two should be there already.”

“What about “the heart?”” asked Tyr, “We'll need that to be at the destination as well.”

“Someone high-up in the Pagkosmios cult promised to deliver it,” answered the lady.

“One of those people huh?” mused Tyr. “How high up are we talking? An arch-cleric or a chief priest maybe?”

“The High Priest,” answered the lady.

“What in the three laws?!” shouted Tyr, “The head of the Pagkosmios cult is here?! In Muspellheim?!”

“It's rare to see your race express any emotion, much less surprise,” commented the lady.

“We're talking about a rather big deal here,” replied Tyr, “The High Priest almost never gets personally involved.”

“Well, this is an exceptional case, isn't it?” asked the lady.

“I suppose so, but still...” muttered Tyr. Louder, he added, *Do you think Amatsu knows about it?”

“That one of the two people he fears most is in Muspellheim?” asked the lady, “What do you think?”

“Good point,” replied Tyr, “Well, let's hurry up, I've never missed a deadline in my life, and don't intend to do so now.*

With your week, that you got on to add it now is fine by me. And a good add, at that. "There is no Good or Evil, no Light or Dark, Order or Chaos. Just knowledge and your own ability to know when to stop. And if you knew when to stop, you'd never achieve the impossible."

Seems this new development has some people worried, but they can't have planned on everything going smoothly. Now the fun part is when you can use an enemies strength against them; and I'm not saying manipulate them into turning on them. Rather I am saying that like the time Orcris got Seth to destroy the...winds of change or threads of fate(it was one or the other, think it had to be the threads though).

You don't always have to be stronger, just more clever. It usually seems like those two are indirectly proportional to each other. Not always, that is where beings like Mephos come in, but they seem rather rare because when you have the power to directly beat someone you forgo the use of guile.

Nice adds, I don't really feel a huge loss in that group. Thomas and his men may have gotten the job done up to that point but they lacked discipline. Taking spoils of war is one thing, ravishing women mid-battle and enjoying everything between battles to the point it ruins battle efficiency is just stupid. To the victor goes the spoils, they had yet to win anything. Anyway I hope for another as soon as you can.

Nick leaned up against a tree and wiped the sweat from his brow. He had been serving as a scout for the Saradominist group ever since it had entered Harrier territory; a necessary job to both look out for enemy scouts and the occasional large beast which called the jungles of Muspellheim home.

Recently though, the way had been mostly deserted, and Nick was beginning to assume that this was going to be yet another uneventful day. Having finished up resting, he was about to head back to his group when an odd stench reached him; it reeked of sulfur and decomposing flesh, and seemed out of place in the jungle. Now wary, Nick stood up straight and began slowly making his way in the direction of the smell.

Before he had seen or heard it, the source of the smell had tackled him to the ground. Nick fought desperately to get free, and managed to get a look at his attacker. Whatever it was, it looked immaterial, like mist or shadows, but felt harder than steel. Moving in a whir of claws and teeth, it had already made several dangerous looking gashes on Nick and seemed to be trying to get in a killing blow. Thankfully for the young warrior, his attacker didn't seem to know of Nick's heritage, and thus was taken completely off guard when his form shifted to that of a large wolf.

Scrambling free of his attacker, Nick let out a long howl, the agreed symbol should he find danger. Then, having done his duty to his allies, Nick turned to the creature that had attacked him, and froze.

Now that he got a good look at it he realized it clearly was not of this world; translucent flames whirled around a single orb of light, becoming claws, teeth, or appendages at random. The orb alone remained static, and looking at it, Nick could feel a sense of dread wash over him; a dread that had its roots in the earlier races of both beast and man, a dread of a superior and malicious predator. Whatever this thing in front of him was, its kind had been around in the early days... the ancestors of both Nick's wolf and human sides had known and feared this creature long ago. It had preyed on them, and so the fear of it had been etched into the instincts of all their descendants.

Nick wanted to flee, but the creature held him in thrall; a will more powerful than Nick had ever felt seemed to wrench control of his body from him, and hold him in place. Having thus taken care of any resistance, the creature moved in for the kill. It took its time, drinking in Nick's fear. After all, it could see the boy wasn't going anywhere, and enjoyed playing with its victims. It had not considered that the boy might have companions, or it would have hurried and gotten rid of him. As it was, the creature had nearly reached Nick when a bolt of lightning struck it.

Hissing in anger, the creature turned to see an elderly couple with staffs in their hands dash out of the jungle.

“What is that thing?” asked the lady.

“A pure demon,” the old man replied, “I never thought I'd see such a thing.”

“Pure demon, huh?” repeated the lady, “Are they strong?”

“Very,” replied the old man, “The demons of today pale in comparison, but I had heard pure demons were no longer able to enter this world.”

“So it's a demon?” questioned yet another interloper; this one a young knight.

“Yes, it's an immensely powerful demon,” replied the old man.

“Demons falter before the might of Saradomin!” exclaimed the knight, “With his power I shall slay this beast!” Before the old man could stop him, the knight had run straight toward the demon.

As he closed in, Tony heard a soft voice which sounded like it was coming from right behind him warn, “You cannot defeat this being, if you do not turn back now, you will certainly lose your life.”

“Saradomin will protect me,” Tony replied, “My cause is just, there is no way he will let me fail.”

“Your cause is righteous, and your faith is steadfast, though misplaced” replied the voice, “Saradomin has no power here, you will die if you do not turn back. Although, since your heart is pure, you shall be spared the fate worse than death. Know this though, should you precede with your attack you will not only lost your life, but shall also cause another life to be lost.”

“Be silent,” Tony commanded, “You are certainly a fiend trying to save your partner in evil doing! I will hear none of it!”

With this, the voice seemed to sigh, and stopped talking, allowing Tony to focus on the demon. As he thought, Saradomin gave him strength; no sooner had his sword touched the demon than it shrieked in pain and fell back, trying feebly to dodge Tony's blows. Seeing his enemy falter, Tony gave a triumphant shout and pressed the attack.

The demon continued pretending to be in pain for a while longer. It had fought many humans like this one in the past, and knew that should it pretend to be on the defensive, the human would continue to attack, and eventually let down his guard. Biding its time for this moment, the demon continued to act as if it was in agony, until finally it saw on opening. With incredible speed it tore through Tony's armor and flesh as if they were wet tissue, and grabbed for the warrior's soul. However, even only brushing by this soul caused the demon pain; forcing it to withdraw, and allowing the soul to escape.

The demon sighed as it saw its intended meal flee, but took solace in the fact that it had ended the warrior's life in a brutal manner. It soon had another reason to be pleased, almost as soon as the knight had died, a female archer came into view, and with a scream of rage, ran toward the demon, releasing a volley of arrows in her wake. The demon dodged the arrows with ease, and after spending a moment to savor the ranger's hatred, sped in for the kill.

It would've drawn this out, but realizing that the magic users were readying their own, more formidable attacks, the demon rushed itself, disemboweling the archer in a single swift stroke before turning to face the magic users.

The demon was more cautious this time; both of the magic users, despite their advanced age, were clearly skilled at their art, and the demon was aware that rushing itself would likely put it in a position where it could actually lose. Therefore, it held back, testing the air and trying to get an idea of what kind of powers it's opponents had.

It soon found out it's caution was well deserved, as both humans soon were radiating massive amounts of magical energy. It was surprised to note however, that despite being on the same side, and working well together, the two were using very different types of magic. The lady's magic was eerily similar to the demon's own; drawing ultimately on the power of destruction; it was a magic born and bred for battle.

The demon shuddered at it's presence; the lady was nearly equal in power to itself; no mean feat for a flesh and blood being who measured its lifespan in years. She also clearly had experience in battle and would've been an adversary worthy of caution even if she had been alone.
