“Demons falter before the might of Saradomin!” exclaimed the knight, “With his power I shall slay this beast!” Before the old man could stop him, the knight had run straight toward the demon.
As he closed in, Tony heard a soft voice which sounded like it was coming from right behind him warn, “You cannot defeat this being, if you do not turn back now, you will certainly lose your life.”
“Saradomin will protect me,” Tony replied, “My cause is just, there is no way he will let me fail.”
“Your cause is righteous, and your faith is steadfast, though misplaced” replied the voice, “Saradomin has no power here, you will die if you do not turn back. Although, since your heart is pure, you shall be spared the fate worse than death. Know this though, should you precede with your attack you will not only lost your life, but shall also cause another life to be lost.”
“Be silent,” Tony commanded, “You are certainly a fiend trying to save your partner in evil doing! I will hear none of it!”
With this, the voice seemed to sigh, and stopped talking, allowing Tony to focus on the demon. As he thought, Saradomin gave him strength; no sooner had his sword touched the demon than it shrieked in pain and fell back, trying feebly to dodge Tony's blows. Seeing his enemy falter, Tony gave a triumphant shout and pressed the attack.
The demon continued pretending to be in pain for a while longer. It had fought many humans like this one in the past, and knew that should it pretend to be on the defensive, the human would continue to attack, and eventually let down his guard. Biding its time for this moment, the demon continued to act as if it was in agony, until finally it saw on opening. With incredible speed it tore through Tony's armor and flesh as if they were wet tissue, and grabbed for the warrior's soul. However, even only brushing by this soul caused the demon pain; forcing it to withdraw, and allowing the soul to escape.
