Interesting ritual. It seemed obvious that Lucien would be chosen, though things don't always go as planned. It seems that while Zaros and Guthix were measuring up eachother there was no sense of hostility between them, but only calculated awareness of the other's power. Interesting, I wonder in the long run what kind of obstacle Guthix will prove to be. If the time flux(rewrite) is near to what happened before then Guthix won't be as great a player in all this as some would hope, but it is necessary for things to get interesting. Guthix would throw a fit if anything ressembling war occured in the world again.

The cult of chaos add seemed to me that Aqua couldn't think of much and just started throwing stuff out there. I found Ginko talking in java worth a laugh though. I still need to reread all of this, and also get in touch with you in game Aqua. With things before, and your big mystery I will put them in terms that most readers probably wouldn't understand. I think possibly that Mephos is suffering from an Iohnus(I believe that is right) complex, or Liam is suffering from an Aquaregis complex. You might know what I'm referring to, I would hope so.

Apologies for not commenting in so long my father has kept me busy and I've been out of town when he hasn't.

-_-; Welcome back Orcris, in more ways then one.

I'm surprised you remember Ioh***us (Not Iohnus, but close enough) at all... I am even more surprised to hear your declaration, I had thought that, in the original, I hadn't stated how Aquaregis and Ioh***us related to one another... but yet, it is true, Aquaregis is to Ioh***us as Liam is to Mephos.

As I stated before, I liked the backstory for Aquaregis but at the same time, having him in the story forced me into an awkward position; if I made him too powerful, it felt like I was being egotistical and allowing myself to god-mode. If I made him too weak, he seemed to only be in the story so I could be in the story. So I scrapped him in an epic way, and then using the basic idea of his backstory, rewrote it and gave it to Liam.

As for the add before the previous one... I really had been meaning to introduce the Cult of Chaos for a while now, as they will be playing a major part in this series. I actually debated whether to write the ritual back then, but decided that I had been focusing too much on the Zarosians recently, and that I needed to put an add without any direct relation to Zaros... which led me to decide to doing the Zamorakians. But, by themselves their activities didn't have enough content to make an add, so I thought; "Hey, why don't I throw in the Cult of Chaos?"

As for the randomness, I really wanted to display the cult leaders' personalities... the randomness was a method to do that: Rose and Ginko of course had already gotten coverage, so I tried not to focus on them; Imayc Lown (or "I'm a clown" if you say it fast) as another of a long line of psychotic clowns including Stephen King's IT, Batman's Joker, and Final Fantasy 6's Kefka Palazzo; On*rej as someone with stupidity that puts him at the point of insanity; and Ece, the type of psycho who loves cute furry animals (and jellyfish), but can still disembowel you with the sweetest smile on her face.

Due to me being busy this week, the add is delayed until Sunday. "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."

“Sliske,” commented Azzanadra.

“Yes?” replied the other Zarosian.

“Stand near Wahistiel,” said Azzanadra.

“Hm? What are you planning?” asked Sliske.

“Lucien will go after whomever he believes is the weakest target. This means he will attack either Wahistiel, Khazard, or Bilrach. Hazeel is too close to Khazard, so Lucien won’t attack him, and we want him to attack Bilrach,” answered Azzanadra.

Sliske nodded, and as he did so heard Zemourgal say, “Any last words, Lucien?”

Lucien glanced around quickly, and noticing that Bilrach stood alone broke into a smile. “Not really,” he replied to Zemourgal.

Zemourgal nodded and said “Then you shall-”

He stopped mid-sentence as Lucien charged toward Bilrach, fire crackling at his hands.

-This is it!- thought Lucien closing on in Bilrach before his opponent even had time to think. Lucien could nearly feel his flames connect and then… A loud crack resounded through the North and Lucien saw black.

The other Mahjarrat, save Azzanadra looked on in shock; a black vortex had appeared in front of Bilrach right before Lucien had connected his attack, and Lucien had vanished into it, only to have another vortex appear right above a stone spire. Lucien hadn’t seen it coming and thus had no chance of dodging or slowing himself down, as such he had slammed his head into the jagged end of the spire. The force of the impact had sent numerous cracks spider webbing down the spire, and had left a deep dent in Lucien’s head. Should any human have taken such a blow, that human would have died instantly, but thankfully for Lucien, he was not human, and so within moments was standing again, injured, but far from being down for the count.

“How?” he demanded of Bilrach.

“I’m not the weak old Bilrach you remember,” replied the Zamorakian, “I’ve become much stronger, and learned much since we last met. For example…”

Another vortex opened above Lucien, and when the mists had faded it became the image of an inverted volcano in full eruption. The magma from the volcano’s crater glowed like an angry sun, and lava and ash rained down upon Lucien like the brimstone of Doomsday. But this time, Lucien was ready; and with a motion of his hand, a geyser broke forth from the land and into the vortex, water and magma met with a hiss that sounded as if it came from a dying god; then magma was turned to stone and the volcano met its end.

Yet Lucien was given no respite; even as Bilrach’s portal closed, Zemourgal struck his blade into the ground, and the earth was split in two as a massive fissure formed at his feet. The depth of the fissure was unfathomable; it went below stone and magma into the bowels of the earth where even diamonds melt like wax, and from these depth came forth a moan of unspeakable suffering. Like smoke from a burning city, shades of the long forgotten rose from these depths, and wrapped their arms around Lucien, their touch so cold that ice crystals formed in the wake of their dead and unsubstantial hands. Yet, though these foul spirits could pass through stone and metal without effort, their grip was one that could crush iron, and with thus a grip around their target they pulled him toward the fissure.

Even for one who had lived as long, and grown as powerful as Lucien, the very presence of these vile shades was enough to make his body inadvertently tremble, and to cause his instincts to scream for him to flee. Yet, his experiences over millenia had taught Lucien not to lose his calm, and thus, with an ancient word of such pervasive evil that its very utterance weighs down the soul and turns happiness to bitter sorrow, and peace to war, Lucien cast the shades back into the Void.

No sooner had he done so, than a shadow fell upon Lucien, and instinctively, the Mahjarrat formed a mystical shield behind him and turned to face his new adversary: Before him was a serpent, its body a writhing mass of shadows, flame, and venom. The serpent’s body was so long that its tail could rest upon the walls of Lumbridge and its head upon the castle of Varrock, without its body being taut. Looking upon Lucien with eyes of fire, the serpent opened its mouth, revealing row upon row of fangs, each made of fire more intense than any furnace, and dripping a liquid thick as tar and more repugnant than the foulest of cesspits.

The serpent snapped at Lucien, and would have likely hit if not for Lucien’s shield. Even so, the serpent’s fangs pierced the shield, and it began to crack and give way under this attack. However, it had served to buy Lucien enough time to conjure up his own spell; a strong wind blew forth from the west and took form as thousands of stallions, all as ethereal as morning mist. These stallions immediately broke into a full gallop, stampeding across the land, and toward Sliske. The Zarosian muttered under his breath, and sunk into the earth as if it had been liquid instead of solid ground, thus he escaping Lucien’s attack. However, his retreat cost Sliske the ability to sustain his serpent, and so, with a howl that could split the ears of mortals, it reverted to its component elements, and burned another black mark into the already scarred land.

Even though the conjured herd had missed its original target, it moved onward; thundering across the land, until it had closed on Wahistiel, who quickly brought up a shield to defend himself. But Lucien’s attack would not be dissuaded and it forced itself against Wahistiel’s shield, each stallion collapsing as it hit the shield and soon after being trampled underfoot as the next tried to breach the Mahjarrat’s defenses. Eventually, their perseverance bore fruit, and Wahistiel’s shield shattered into fragments of shimmering light. With this the herd surged forward in an effort to crush the life out of their enemy. However, Lucien had allowed himself to become so focused on Wahistiel’s apparent destruction that he did not take notice of his surroundings, and was caught completely by surprise as Khazard’s knee smashed into his face.

Lucien stumbled back and as he did so his stallions vanished into the air from which they had been wrought, leaving Wahistiel battered, but conscious. On his part Lucien did not receive any respite once stumbling back, for he fell directly into Hazeel who now brandished a blade made of thunder and magma. Before Lucien could even make an attempt at recovering, Hazeel smashed the blade into his skull, and then renewed his attack. Again and again the Zamorakian smote Lucien, his blows but a blur to those who watched on.

With each strike, Lucien felt a searing pain pierce his flesh, and it wasn’t long before the sound of cracking reached his ears, as Hazeel’s blows began to break Lucien’s very bones. With an act of incredible will, Lucien smashed one of his own fingers, and threw the bone fragments at Hazeel. Immediately the fragments grew, and became spikes which impaled Lucien’s assailant. Hazeel quickly brushed them aside, considering his wounds to be minor at worst, then turned back to Lucien. But Lucien had taken advantage of the momentary distraction he had bestowed upon Hazeel, and put distance between them once more.

Seeing Lucien weakened, Akthankos gathered clay into his hands and tossed it into the air. As it fell to the ground, the clay took form and soon in its place stood a massive camel with vicious and unrealistic sharp teeth.

“Bad taste as always,” hissed Enakhra.

“It is perfectly good taste,” replied Akthankos, “And on top of that, it is a work of fine art.”

“Clearly you must have gone blind from the time you spent as a bone guard,” said Enakhra, “But do not fear, for I shall bring true art to this land.” As she said this, Enakhra summoned a massive slab of stone, and within moments transformed it into a statue of Zamorak. With a single word from Enakhra, the statue sprang to life and swung its axe at Lucien, who only narrowly dodged, beset as he was by his numerous injuries.

“And you call my creation tasteless!* exclaimed Akthankos.

“This beautiful statue, into which I have poured my feelings, is the ultimate creation!” exclaimed Enakhra, “How dare you suggest otherwise! It could crush your’s in an instant!”

“Ha!” said Akthankos, *That shoddy piece of junk? Mine could kill it in less than an instant!”

“Care to put your money where your mouth is?” questioned Enakhra.

“Sure, let’s go!” replied Akthankos.

*What are you two, five year-old humans?” asked Sliske as he rose from the ground. “In case you forgot, we’re trying to kill Lucien, not each other.” At this statement Akthankos and Enakhra turned away in embarrassment.

After a few moments Enakhra said, “So, the one who kills Lucien is the winner?”

“Fair enough,” answered Akthankos.
