iChuk,
Hello. Your applied when applications were not open. You also did not follow the twelve written rules for applying, having failed the, "Read posts 1-30" clause. There is one more error, but, on my own part: I failed to appropriately label it in the front page, so I won't mention it. ;)
As you can see, it was not one error, but a combination of smaller ones.

Nightmare7-6,
Hello. The following is the first rule listed in the same post as the application:
"Last edited on 04-May-2009 22:31:33 by Yrolg
Rules Concerning Applying:
1. I will review only a single story at a time. I will not create a waiting list. This ensures that only active posters will receive reviews. Do not apply if I am currently reviewing a story. "
As you can see, applications are not accepted when I am reviewing a story. Until a review is posted (or I explicitly state otherwise), applications aren't accepted.

C0smic1,
Hello. I wanted to, before accepting your application, ask if you were aware of my standards. You rated yourself as a 505/520: a 97%. Are you aware that I have perhaps the highest reviewing standards of any institution currently in the forums?
Furthermore, from past experiences, I have noticed that you are not overly concerned with spelling (in this, I mean fixing errors). It is a monumental effort to document each individual error, one that I would appreciate not going to waste. Would you prefer that I include the customary list of errors and ways of remediation? If you opt to include, I do expect for you to fix each instance pointed out, lest you have personal reasons on each, individual issue (for example, you disagree with my reasoning).

Hmm... You have a point about the standards. I am more than willing to proceed with the review request, and yes I would correct errors you point out, but do you want me to edit the rubric to include slightly more reasonable scores? I do think being confident in your abilities is a good thing, though I think I may have scored myself a bit too high in some of those, I agree. I expect more in the 80% ish from you anyway, so I would not mind tweaking that. =P

Editing the application for any reason is not allowed. I'm afraid that the application's rubric must stay the same. I am willing, however, to substitute, in my final review, a different score if you so desire. Simply post a new rubric, and I'll include it as, "more accurate".

I am well aware that editing is not allowed, posting a new one was my intention the whole time. ;)

According to the first page applications were open as of December 17th 0:00 GMT. But I did only skim the second page once I saw it was past reviews. C0smic told me I missed something there. :|
However, I do have to ask: what is the point in making an applicant read past reviews, especially when they're likely for stories that they haven't read? It seems like just an added pain rather than serving a purpose.

iChuk,
Hello. By fault of miscommunication on my part, I did in fact detail the incorrect opening date for applications. My post on the Stories Discussion thread was accurate, though I in no way expect you to read my every whim on that arena. I accept full responsibility for the first error I incorrectly "pointed out".
I ask that applicants read past reviews both to familiarise them with the standards that I expect of stories as well as to offer examples of my style of review. Past these only immediately practical details, reading through the past reviews will offer to these applicants the same basic advice and principles that I seem to endless iterate in my reviews. It's almost a motif that I invariably contribute to in each review dealing with basic grammar structure mistakes and the development of plot. I further deal with flow in every story I review, so any tips that the user can garner from past reviews can help them in these several categories, even if I don't explicitly mention them.
Lastly, it is a very big peeve of mine when users apply only to receive a score: I review to give advice and create a better story; the score is merely a numerical representation of my thoughts. By asking potential applicants to read several pages of literary discourse, I am filtering these more shallow users out of my applicant pool, ensuring that I only apply the vast amounts of time needed for a review to worthy causes.
I hope this cleared up the matter. :)
