Joric Ironfist

"Why the 'ell are you all making speeches!?" Joric yelled, yanking his sword out as everyone in the room seemed to launch into their own monologue, or delivered long lengthy debates. That wasn't exactly practical, considering they were in the middle of a heated battle. And what was worse was that was that Annie had created a force field between him and the demon.

If Annie was an adult, and not the self-proclaimed chosen of a god, Joric would have marched right over and cut her down.

"He is a demon!" Joric yelled, swinging his sword at the forcefield with all his strength, hoping to weaken it. "You can't trust him!" He immediately followed up the swing with a thrust. Then he yelled to the rest of the group. "Stop the girl or bring this shield down!"

-----

...Brody!?

"I feel like you're the type of person who would call me Brody anyways." Brodus lamented. Meanwhile, he made note to remember Soahc's confession to helping destroy Ubaid's empire - it could be useful if he needed the ghost for an ally, if Soahc betrayed him or for some reason he needed to betray Soahc.

So, apparently they were going after a man in a mask, and everyone else was expendable, which as far as Brodus was concerned basically meant he was free to murder everyone but one guy. It would be a great opportunity to replenish his energy. As far as he was concerned, there had not been nearly enough chances to go into full-on wanton slaughter mode.

Nodding his assent, he took Soahc's hand.

-----

Cirion

A piece of wreckage came crashing down between him and the captain, and Cirion jumped back. Only then, in that few second break, did he realize just how tired he really was. Both the spellcasting and the swordfighting had taken a lot out of him. Black, meanwhile, showed no signs of tiring out and seemed capable of shrugging off even the most severe injuries.

There was a very real possibility that he would die today.

And then a woman seemingly came out of nowhere, landing directly in front of him. He immediately pointed a sword at her, unsure if she was a friend or foe.

But then she offered him a way out, another way to defeat Soahc, and he lowered his blade. He looked around - at the dead and dying knights, at the fleeing adventures, at Soahc's victorious minions. Even if he defeated Black, he knew he would be no match if the others decided to gang up on him.

Cirion accepted the potion and studied it briefly. He had just watched her drink half of it, and had directly witnessed its effects, so it was probably safe. With no other option, he brought the bottle to his lips and drank.

Alicia

Alicia couldn't help but frown at the situation she had gotten herself into.

She had joined this adventure out of an idle curiosity to find out what the hell was going on, and see if she could make a profit out of it. Now the Tyrannian Empire had gotten involved, there was a demon on the loose, a magical weirdness had tried to invade her head, over half the group had split off, and she had no way of knowing if any of those things were connected. She was now in the company of two idiots, travelling to a city to find out what was manipulating some of the world's most idiotic creatures. She was getting involved in a conflict that she had no reason to be invested in.

At this point, most rational people would back off and head home. But for some odd reason, she wanted to stay. She really had nothing better to do, and it would be a waste of all that walking to suddenly turn back. So, she kept her mouth shut and continued to follow Mugwo.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.

Ryokin

Ryokin yanks his hand free off the young man's chest yanking out the heart of the young man then drops it to the ground. Ryokin laughs as he watches the others run after the flames let up.
"Haha where are you all going? I thought you all were going to stop us?"

Ryokin wipes the blood from his hands with then looks back towards fiery phoenix display then says,
"What a show! I am impressed now burn them all alive!"
He finishes off with another laugh seemingly enjoying himself in the whole situation. An idea came to Ryokin and he acts on it.

Using the blood of the man in front of him Ryokin paints a pentagram or demonic circle his idea was simple, he wanted to cause a bit more chaos and summon a few demons. He talks to himself,
"Alright how is this done, I focus my demonic powers to the circle then what...say demonic halls I call upon you, pull forth one of your children summoned to my power, bound to my will, bound to Ryokin lord of the crossroads"

Ryokin not really knowing his to do this as he never tried to summon other demons. So all he did was make the circle and focus all his demonic power on the circle then said what he said. Keeping his special demonic dagger handy if this works and goes wrong, but for the most part Ryokin wanted to summon any demon here to join in on the what he would call fun. Whether or not Ryokin was following the mission remains to be seen, right now he is following up with his carnage and trying to bring more of his kind here into this world.
and nothing was spoiled :P

Out of the frying pan...

The amount of sorrow that she was shielding this young woman from was staggering, almost enough to make her mind stumble for a moment. However, as she was expecting to be hit hard, she remained strong, something akin to pride surfacing at the fact that she could help someone shoulder this. Once she had come to this world, she had never had anyone - until recently, of course - all of her burdens being hers and hers alone. It was not a state anyone deserved to have, and if she could help someone alleviate it even a little then her actions would have been worthwhile.

The words of the mechanical Spirry struck no fear into her, for they were hateful things uttered by one that was no longer in control of their own creation. Even coming inside the sphere of influence that she had called into being would have been extremely painful for the creation, for if he thought that he could come within such a construct without repercussions he was mistaken. It was not simply breaking the dream apart, and the effects that it was causing to come into being were not simply ignorable.

Although he spent little time there, whatever he was would have begun breaking apart from the second that he came anywhere near her. Although it could not utterly destroy him instantaneously due to the nature of what he was, if he was human his bones would have begun dissolving as all veins in his body popped. As he was mechanical, whatever held him together began breaking apart, his body beginning to shake itself to pieces.

His movement from that point wouldn’t have worked the way he planned it, either. Phasing through Siera, the source of the Harmony, would be entirely impossible for him. Any attempt would have simply accelerated his dissolution while pushing him back. Therefore, even if he had actually tried to move through her and jump at Alania, he would never have made it that far.

She was going to try and tell Alania not to bother, that trying to do such things to demons would only result in death, but decided not to when the one she had been addressing spoke back in a voice unlike any that he had used so far. Perhaps there was some hope for such a thing, and she had no right to prevent someone else from being hopeful. Her own hope for such a thing had vanished in Copperdale, although it had been thoroughly beaten back in Messia first, but that did not mean there was not some left if someone else could still think that way.

So, instead, all she said to Alania was,
Please don’t die. I’d like to meet you someday.
Nobody besides Alania could hear this mental voice.

And then, as the dream faded, so too did her song, although it would linger on for moments after in the minds of all those who had been involved. In Alania’s case, the effect of supporting her mind would continue as well, for although Siera did not know it she had inadvertently created a link between the minds of herself, Charles, and Alania. Without some kind of stimulation, the link would remain nearly inanimate, and would yield nothing new to anything.

...and into the fire

The return to reality hit her like a staff to the head. Funnily enough, that was exactly what it felt like when she regained control of her senses, and a tentative reach up to see told her that she did indeed have a bruise on her temple. Why was that? Who would have bothered to hit her nonlethally in the middle of a fight with an Elder demon?

Speaking of the Elder demon, why was it now surrounded by a forcefield that was conjured by the god-child, and why was that god-child shouting about how they needed to free Azul? Why were there now two demons in the room, and why was Azul shouting to Annie to save him? She could feel her energy being drained again, but she could also tell that it was hurting him, so why was he bothering?

What the hell was going on?

Granted, not all of this came to her at once. It took a few moments for her to realize that she was leaning against the wall of the landing on the steps, and another few to realize that there was a desperate-sounding flute flying around her head and making panicked whistling noises. In the chaos of the fight, nobody else would have really noticed, but it had been darting around her head and trying to wake her up for the entire time she had been asleep. When it saw her eyes open, it dove down, warbling in a manner that indicated it was essentially hugging her as hard as it could. It was hard for anyone to really understand, but right now she could actually feel the emotion, and it made her mouth the words I’m sorry even though she knew no sound would come out.

The next thing that came to her was the overall situation in front of her, piece by piece as she took it in. Azul was still there, which would not have been nearly so worrying if there was not another demon in the room and there was a magical barrier surrounding Azul. It did*’t look like the barrier was of demonic creation, though.

That was when the voices started registering, and she was able to gather quite a bit more about what was going on. Unfortunately, that only made the situation more confusing. What she was hearing did*’t make sense; the god-child Annie was trying to set the demon free, Ethel was supporting the decision, and everyone else seemed to be fighting against that. The other demon was fighting Azul, and the voice sounded distinctly like Rovaan. If this was his true form, which she realized was probably the case, then she did*’t know what to think of him anymore.

It was horrifying to her that the dream she had just been in made more sense than what she had woken up to, but the sense of clarity from there and the sorrow that she still felt from Alania - although diminished, it was still quite present in her mind - made her know what she needed to do.

If Annie was misled, then she could argue after, but setting an Elder demon loose upon the world - especially one that she had put so much effort into containing, and lost so much in the process - could not happen.

The flute seemed to have a similar idea, and pushed itself gently into her hands. Unconsciously, as it felt so natural to do so, she raised the instrument to her lips and began to play. Music, which had been so absent from the scene before this point, began to sound throughout the room. It was a pale echo of what she had sounded like in the dream just moments before, but only she knew that, and only she wished that the voice she had just showcased could return to her.

Now that she was back in the real world, the constraints of physical exhaustion were once again applicable, and because of them she remained sitting where she had woken up. For now, all of her energy was to the music, but that also made her an easy target should someone care enough to attack the musician who was, as of now, doing nothing that affected anything else.

Phoenix Bombing 101

Now that she had taken the time to transform into a being that lit up the night sky and was visible from pretty much everywhere within at least a mile, Kira’s understanding of the plan was that she was going to stay that way. Sure, she could turn back into a human and continue on to where they were supposed to be meeting, but even without this form she was still quite noticeable and stood out quite easily. Anywhere she was going would undoubtedly become the center of attention, and so she was sure it was best that she remain here and guide who she could to come fight. If they ran, as everyone seemed to be doing, that was good too, although not as fun.

It wasn’t often that she took this form, for despite the numerous advantages it gave and the freedom that it allowed her to have it was also a beacon to everyone that wished to hunt her. Too many converging on her location was usually trouble if she gave it enough time, but at this point it mattered little. Everyone that mattered already knew where she was already, and she was trying to draw them anyways.

For now, she did not continue a march of destruction, although to keep up with the appearance that she was she periodically released a fire lance that would strike a building below her. The lances would pierce the roof of whatever building that happened to be and then explode inside, presumably setting them ablaze. It was a simple enough act for her to accomplish, but the destruction that it caused would hopefully be enough to make people think she was just taking her time and enjoying destroying the town piece by piece.

However, her real purpose was something much different. Now that all of the adventurers and knights were either dead or retreating, it left her with the task of disrupting anything that might be a threat to the initial plan. Although that realistically just meant more focused destruction on her part, it did mean she had to find a source, and so she circled around above the town, trying to find anything that seemed out of the ordinary given the situation. It would be easier, although not guaranteed, for her to notice anything, as her eyesight was far better in the form of a bird of prey than it would be as a human.

And if Soahc needed her, well...she hoped he would call. Nothing gave quite the same feeling as a demigod asking for her personally.

Ryokin's demonic circle - Towncenter

This demon used blood to form a symbol of the surface before him, intending to summon more of his kin. With a fiery bird in the air, a bunch of knights burning to death despite their valiant charge, a demon ripping a heart out, there was much chaos in the town centre, unsurprisingly.

Then, something unexpected and odd happened. The demonic circle remained where it was, untouched, but rippling shadows forming beneath it, not affecting the demonic powers already in play. Shadowy, sizzling chains with links made of intertwining blades, hooks, and grapples shot out around the rim, flicking outwards and hooking into the ground, buildings, and whatever happened to be in the scenery.

Although resembling iron, the chains were actually made of some sort of shadow-magic, the shadow-chains smouldering with fire, as if embers were rippling through them. Two of such chains flung upwards into the air, whipping at the phoenix-Kira, or the fire-bird-Kira, whatever she was now, and a few of the chains attempted to latch onto Rykon's demonic form and hook into him. It also seemed that Cirion and some woman would be leaving the vicinity to defeat Soahc.

The rippling shadows beneath Ryokin's demonic-circle expanded until two horns appeared, then the tips of wings, two arms, and then this weird thing emerged, pulling itself out the ground and through the demonic circle before its summoner. This may or may not have been what Rykon intended, but some sort of odd demon appeared, perhaps even some type that he had not seen before. It was, unsurprisingly, Mechanical Spirry, who, destroyed in his dream world by the power of music, was ejected from the destruction of his world and appeared in this one, probably with some of his own magic and determination involved.

Mechanical Spirry did not look too good. He resembled a nine-foot-tall bipedal dragon, not very big, but still a demon.

He was absent of skin, eyeballs, lips, cheeks, and most of his flesh, resembling a semi-meaty skeleton. He was constantly bleeding everywhere, especially out the eye sockets, mouth and under the ribs. Woven inside his body, intertwining with his own skeleton, were hollow, laminated rods of red-hot metal, especially visible at his rib cage, where the metal parts sizzled against his flesh and caused his blood to bubble, causing the fluid to steam.

His body was visibly regenerating, veins popped but now regrowing closed, blood flushing outwards to paint the already gory and blazing scenery. The beast's heart audibly beat, and his lungs heavily pumped like a set of bellows, every breath causing some flame to flick out his mouth and downwards under the ribs, making him sound like a walking, demonic furnace always leaking blood. He reeked of blood hotly, enough to make most people gag from the aroma.

Once free from the demonic circle, Mechanical Spirry went into a crawling position, opening his mouth and curling out his tongue with a hiss, black smoke fuming out his mouth and nostrils, and then he looked around, wondering where he appeared, then leapt forth, wings flapping, and then flopped onto the ground with a splat, limbs, wings and tail outstretched, mechanical parts broiling the ground and blood under him. He quickly recovered and picked himself up, but kept his knees bent, arms and wings spread, tail moving like a slithering snake yet not going anywhere.

Without eyes, he could not see, not even paying Kira any attention despite her fiery brightness, but since she was eyeing the scenery, she would notice him easily unless his chains latched onto her moments ago, which was unlikely due to the birdie's excellence eyesight. As a demon, he definitely could sense his surroundings, sort of. Then, Mechanical Spirry looked up, staring at Kira irregardless if hooked by the bladed shadow-chains.

“Soahc, where is Soahc? Be called!” The mechanical demon demanded.
