Farmlands - Zed

Zed raised an eyebrow as the troll's body collapsed and a peregrine falcon emerged from its mouth to take the sky. What the hell? He considered trying to shoot the bird down, but that was probably the rush of heated shoot-to-kill combat thinking.

With the threat of the troll gone he returned his focus to the bandits. They were charging towards the girls, the Guildmaster, and Kuro's spent form. Zed rushed to the bridge then stopped to check on Kuro, around whom Siera had created a magical protective shield.

"Oi, get up." He tapped the ground next to him with his staff.

Onslaught on Oakfoot - Sileo

As Soahc mentioned Tyrus sending his champions against them, Sileo gave a sly smile. He'd been killing heroes for years now, perhaps these warriors would provide more of a challenge — and more of a reward.

The rest of Soahc's minions arrives, rolling up a wagon with two bloodied captives. They probably had some ritual significance, else the hags would see to it they'd be ***** and dehydrated.

Sileo paid more attention to the Pyromistress, gazing up and down her curvaceous figure as she turned to observe the two prisoners. He'd gladly spend a hundred nights with the hags for one with her.

But there would be plenty of time for that later.

The Road North - Henry

"Glad we settled that, then." Henry grinned amicably as the Ogre accepted the statement of their mission. Karstone and Alania had been far too aggressive in drawing before speaking — Sir Charles simply told the truth and gained them passage. How mistrustful men have become!

However, the Ogre's sudden roar did rattle his bones. Only now did the man look up and see the demon swooping! He drew his sword, though there probably wasn't much he could do.
Ramsay Bolton is the king we deserve.

The Road North – Spirry initiates combat with NPC Mugwo amidst other adventurers

Curiously enough, Sir Charles only just realized the flesh-winged torment now! He had noticed Spirry earlier, though did not seem to have had paid much, if any, attention. He had spoken to the ogre moments ago, and at perhaps the same time, Alicia, climbing her tree, noticed the demon herself, and then Henry, Karstone and Alania, upon hearing the ogre roar upon the thought of “Ogrin”, the other Ogre country, looked up and saw the incoming demon, now diving so quickly he fell faster than his own leaking blood.

But why did Mugwo mention Ogrin? The Ogres did recently learn magic. Perhaps one of the shamans or warpriests, or whoever pulling the strings behind the scenes, such as the Elves, the birdmen, Soahc the Deceiver, or a hag of the Coven, or whatever or whoever, had been messing around with the wrong kind of magic, in the wrong place, in the wrong time, and now, the presence of a self-regenerating demon has appeared in the world without the summoner anywhere to be seen. But many questions lingered about how Newborn appeared, a mystery only time will tell, or perhaps, it will never be answered.

No time to wonder; Sir Charles had taken out his pistol, or so he expected, remembering he had left it elsewhere, much to his disappointment. Henry nearby had withdrawn his sword, probably eager to at least try and save his diplomatic attempt, but figured there was not much he could do; no-one had enough time to do anything. Mugwo had lifted his sword, then...

(( Possible scenario for initiated duel:
Surprisingly, Spirry twirled as he descended, movement dodging the Ogre's blade that only swung through air, and Spirry plummeted onto his target, smashing into Mugwo with an audible splat, a wave of blood splashing a moment later, covering the Ogre and the nearby ground with red.

The impact caused Mugwo to stagger, his armour absorbing much of the force, Mugwo now having this annoying flappy thing latched onto his upper body, talons and claws hooked into anything they could get into, such as the joints or straps of his armour.

Firmly gripped onto the Ogre's armour, and so close that the big boy did not have any room to use his sword, the demon, breathing rapidly through his nose, blood spurting out with every exhale, repeatedly biting at the Ogre's throat and face, though the Ogre's skullcap protected his forehead from even the hungriest bite.

Feeling the demon's hot breath and blood coating his face, the Ogre roared and spun around, feeling sharp teeth poking holes in his face, and he managed to thrust his hand into the demon's sternum, gripping the spine, feeling the wet squishy insides and spinal cord poking him, even feeling the monster's heart and lungs working, and the Ogre basically whipped the demon off himself, nearly slipping on the bloodied ground.

Hurled away, the demon landed several feet somewhere on his back, juicy body sliding across the ground a few feet before he turned around and clawed the ground, gripping it like a big cat ready to pounce. He awaited eagerly, mouth opening and closing repeatedly and rapidly so that the teeth clicked constantly, his entire frame wet and bleeding, wings gently flapping, tail slowly wagging, and the face making slight but sudden tilts. The others would have the time to react within seconds, and then... ))

"You can fight, oui," agreed Monsieur Federico with much scepticism, "But can you be fighting with as much suave as one such as me?" He flourished his rapier extensively to hammer his point in, then began fearlessly sauntering up towards the oncoming bandits, though perhaps he was simply making it towards the shield that currently protected Kuro.

"You're either a warrior or a madman," Etheldredda observed as Joric launched off another one of his trademarked puns. Together they were heading for the bridge, and now Rovaan was joining them too. The man had turned from human to monster and now to near-wolf, but seemed to be quite in control of his transformations. Etheldredda had no idea how he did it- she suspected magic, but she could not deny that his skills made for a useful asset.

As Annie joined their charge, catching up with the agility granted to her by her half-elven heritage, Etheldredda saw the new combatant who was leading the bandits towards them. Was he their leader? No, he seemed far too discontented with the situation for that. A rust-coloured bird was darting up and down, fighting against the bandits. Was he a beast tamer? Or was this magic as well?

Etheldredda didn't know, nor cared to know right now. All she knew was that this battle was delaying her true mission, and all she cared about was letting her mace impact with the skull of brigands. The wave of heroes clashed with the wave of outlaws, the former honed over years of heroic combat, the latter driven on by nefarious purpose.

With sword and shield, mace and axe, might and magic, the heroes cleaved their way through the ranks, decimating their opponents in the matter of moments. Etheldredda might have been a woman, but she'd spent the past half-year as a blacksmith, and before that a warrior- her training and strength proved more than a match for her meagre adversaries.

And then it was done.

Etheldredda rested her back against the stone walls which acted as guardrails for the bridge, panting as she regained her energy. It had been the legendary warrior Br'nard Even'star that had labelled her a berserker, one who would undergo a furious transformation in battle, an unstoppable rage. She hadn't even bothered to withdraw her scimitar, which would have made more sense as the opponents were unarmoured. She had just wanted to feel the crushing of their bones, to watch blood and brain matter fly. Etheldredda sought to suppress her hagspawn heritage, but her natural revulsion towards humanity was hard to quench.

She was filled with anger. They'd all broken ranks immediately! Trolls and brigands were all well and good, but the Hag Coven would be something else. The hags were sinister and cruel, and possessed a wicked cunning not found in any other mortal race. If they could find a way to divide the group, they would do so, and make them all the easier to pick off.

Etheldredda bit at the ruin of her bottom lip to quench her rage, knowing it would be of little aid to thrash out at her comrades now. Instead she hooked her mace at her belt and rose to stand straight, marching headlong towards Kuro, unaware of the blood and skull pieces which stuck to her repulsive helm.

"You should not be worrying, my hatefilled harpy, I had the boy well protected-" Prattled off Monsieur Federico.

"Button it," she demanded, and so he did. "Kuro's down. Zed, can you do anything about it? If he doesn't budge, we'll tie him to his horse." She looked around to see no horse. "Can you summon it?"

The troll was a pile of skin, Etheldredda saw. She knew that couldn't have been any ordinary troll, but was stumped at what it really might have been. It wasn't their problem anyway, they needed to get moving.

"We get back in formation and head out. Keep an eye on the trees. You," she pointed at Conleth. "Explain yourself. Why are you here?"

The High Road

"You hear that, Sileo?" Soahc called out to the assassin with glee, in reference to Kira's comments and taking notice of his glances. "Best be bringing protection if you want to be crawling under Kira's sheets- both kinds!" He threw his head back and laughed.

"Speaking of demons," he continued, sniffing the air rather forcefully. "I'm getting a whiff of 'em around you, my fiery friend," he looked Kira up and down in what might have been a seductive manner, or a predatory one. "I like to consider myself a fan of blood magic- having invented it- and there's something certainly off about yours. Care to tell?"

Soahc took a glance towards the wagon again as the conversation turned its way towards the subjects bound to it. "Close to the mark, Brodus," the demigod responded, but gave nothing else away, choosing instead to whistle the local ditty known as The Greater Beast . Raspur muttered at this, though whether he disliked the song or Soahc's rendition of it was up in the air.

By now Cold Ethyl was slinking her way towards them, having left her three sisters behind with their children and her own brood. She was the most senior of them, and more superior in her abilities, and was the one chosen as a liaison between her legion and the lord of chaos that the hags called Bloodgift.

"This reckless raiding is foolish!" She barked out, clearly unafraid even when faced with one of such power as the disowned son of Tyrrus himself. "I pledged my spawn to your cause and my sisters too. Yet you throw their lives away so frivolously! Are you trying to weaken my forces, or are you as much a fool as my mother claimed you to be?"

Soahc lifted a bemused eyebrow as he turned to the leader of the hags, and Raspur's hand casually fell to the top of his flintlock, but then the moment was gone and Soahc was grinning like the lunatic he was, as usual.

"Well I assume Ubaid here is raising the dead as we speak, so overall we've lost no one," he gave a lazy wave of the hand towards the ghost in his rune-etched armour. Of course, no ordinary ghost could ever be so powerful in the necromantic arts, which Soahc knew perfectly well. The enchantments on the armour he wore, the furnishings on the sarcophagus he lugged around with him, these all pointed to a civilisation which was wiped out millennia ago. Soahc had lived to see the empire rise, flourish, fall, and be forgotten entirely in the annals of history.

He just needed to figure out where exactly Ubaid had once stood in this empire. Then he would understand how much of a threat he might be, and act accordingly.

"If you're fearing an undead coup, I'll have my dearest pyromistress burn the bodies," he gave a gesture towards Kira. No doubt she would love any chance she got to make a pyre of human flesh, alive or not. If this would appease the hag leader, all the better. And if nothing else, this comment would be a thinly veiled threat to Ubaid, in case he forgot his place in the pecking order.

"Without a trail, we'll never be found," Soahc told Ethyl simply.

" You want to be found," Ethyl said, " We want no part in this folly."
"Then you're free to go home."

Soahc smiled maliciously as the hag seethed at this comment. There was no going home for the hags. As soon as Ethyl and her sisters left the coven to join Soahc, they had sealed their fate. They were now traitors and usurpers, and if they ever set foot in Myrkviðr again they would wish they never had.

"Let it not be said that I am an unjust god!" Said the embodiment of injustice. "I bow to your wisdom- we step forward with precaution. Besides, Oakfoot handed us the tools we'll need for discretion." He gestured to Sileo and Brodus.

Cold Ethyl hissed at the demigod, but nodded, and fell silent and complacent once more.

The Road North

Spirry and Mugwo came clashing together, the former splaying blood everywhere at the force of the collision and at its incessant raking, trying to find a gap in the armour, the latter finding chunks of flesh between the armour being torn out and thrown into the void. Gripping the demon, the ogre flung it away, where it landed on the ground, crouching, waiting like a mountain cat for its next strike.

Alicia remained poised, Henry and Sir Charles had both drawn swords and all seemed to stand still. Alania Clarke withdrew her own longsword, glimmering in the afternoon light, the same pale blue material as her armour. She'd fought mutations before in the Kal'dara archipelagos, men and women with tentacles and claws growing from them, but this was something else entirely, something completely detached from the human condition.

"Wh-what is that?" Alania whispered.

"Above our pay grade," answered Karstone, his twin hammers already unhooked and ready. The old adventurer had seen demons in his time and knew their ilk, yet this one was undoubtedly different . It seemed bestial, yet also had a childlike simplicity to its actions, rather than the malevolent machinations of true demons.

Still, there was no doubt that it was dangerous and powerful, and certainly of demon stock. Alicia was a thief, Henry a merchant's son. Alania was a little girl playing dress up as a knight and Balmor hadn't shown much life since leaving the Hecatonchire . And Karstone was old. Sir Charles had the best chance out of all of them, as most knighthoods came with holy anointment, though something told Karstone that this particular knight wasn't high-grade enough for such a ceremony.

Their best hope was Mugwo, and he was more childlike than the newborn. That rattling shout must have been a signal for reinforcements, so Karstone knew what to do- stall.

"We don' wan' a 'arm yah," he told Spirry.

Beyond the hills, the roars of Mugwo were being echoed, until the echoes grew louder and it became apparent that it was not his own sound bouncing back at them, but of the joining of a war cry. From over the horizon came five more, armoured just like Mugwo himself, and these had encountered Spirry before, and were fast approaching down the hillside, withdrawing hammers and clubs as they went. Annie kept attacking the bandits as fast as an elf. She looped her sword to the right killing most of them right away. Then shot fire at them and killed some more. None of them touched her. She shot other powers at the bandits like earth, nature, water, and air to kill the bandits that was close to her. Then the battle was over. She said to Etheldredda,"I agree we need to leave this place. I have a bad feeling if we stay here. I can heal Kuro." She walks over to Kuro and starts to heal his wounds.

Judy douge the attack and with her sword by dipping her sword in the bandit chest that was close to her.
