Brodus

Brodus let himself smile in satisfaction as his attack was at least partly successful, and Ubaid began to back towards the altar. The swings he made as he did so were simply blocked - all Brodus had to do was raise his sword and move it into their path, really. He had forced the ghost onto the defensive, and now it was time to press the advantage.

The corrupted knight quickly took one hand off his sword and pointed it at Ubaid. A dark tendril shot out, aimed directly at the ghost's chest. From there it could go one of three ways.

If Ubaid swung his sword to block, the tendril would wrap around the blade and Brodus would pull, bringing the weapon out of the necromancer's hand. Then Brodus would swing his sword at Ubaid's left side (from Ubaid's perspective), putting more strength behind it this time.

If he didn't try to block or failed, the tendril would wrap around Ubaid himself. In that case, Brodus would immediately yank Ubaid forward and leap to the right, turn, and attempt to thrust his blade into the weak point on Ubaid's left side. Brodus would have tapped into his soul reserves to put additional speed and strength behind the thrust to compensate for the ghost's spell.

Or Ubaid could dodge. Dodging itself would be difficult, but in that case, Brodus would immediately return his hand to his sword and follow up with a swing at the weak point on the ghost's left side, again using his soul reserves to enhance the speed and strength behnd his strike.

Meanwhile, the spearmen continued their fight against the undead horde. If an undead grabbed their spear, they would quickly stab the zombie and pull it back before the zombie could sink too deep onto it. If an undead intentionally impaled themselves, the spearmen would again attempt to pull it out before it went too deep in. And if that failed, they would just abandon the spears and take to their swords, lashing out on any undead that tried to grab their shield.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.

The Leprechaun's Foot

Etheldredda had little patience, but having given an allocated time-slot for others to get ready she had little choice but to pace herself. Sitting down and crossing her legs, she allowed herself to go into a meditative state whilst conversations happened all about her, (her seating position conveniently cutting off Monsieur Federico's escape) which ended when the group began to re-enter the establishment with whatever they had gone to acquire.

She nodded with approval at Annie's changing into armour and the crystal shield slung across her back, with the blonde hair the girl almost reminded Etheldredda of herself. The hagspawn could sense Siera's uneasiness, but knew that despite her looks the musician was powerful. Joric was filled with that calm, warrior's bravado that Etheldredda valued greatly. Kuro she was uncertain of, the others seemed to know him and value him, but Etheldredda did not like the way he conspired with that coward Federico. Speaking of uncertainties, Zed didn't seem too frightening, his albinism giving him an ill-looking body that seemed to speak of frailty, but then again it appeared that all mages gave off the appearance of being weak. Rovaan certainly painted an intimidating picture, but he made it abundantly clear that he was a sellsword, his loyalty was questionable.

Still, it was as good as a team as she was going to get, and time was short.

"Let's go," she said curtly, leading the procession. Out of the Foot they went, and soon after out of Porkstead, following carriage tracks for a while before ditching the trail to go over farmer's fields. The countryside was the farmers' domain, segmented by low, stone walls into large squares of crops, with not a single tree in sight. Their path lead them past crows and rabbits, sparrows and mice, but seldom was a single human seen.

" Farmlands until Hamstead," Etheldredda informed the group. "After that it won't be long until we reach wilderness. I expect nothing less than absolute compliance with my decisions past that point. Kuro's on horse and will scout ahead. Rovaan, Joric, take the sides, make sure nothing gets in reaching distance of our mages. Annie's on rear, I'm on point. Siera, I want your instrument to give us eyes in the air. Zed, have protection spells on standby in case of an ambush, it'll give us a few seconds to plan out a counter attack. If we're separated, disperse and lie low for two hours, then back-track a half-mile to regroup. I don't want us to be remembered as the heroes that set out to save the world but were caught off-guard by a few bandits and never seen again. Clear?"

Elsewhere Judy, calling out to the cosmos, was soon greeted with a response.

"
Sweet child,
" whispered a voice into her mind. The voice was as deep as the ocean's depths, as ancient as the world itself, with a cruel magnificence to it, powerful yet terrifying. "
Loyalty is earned. I have much need of you. Stay with your accomplices, I am in need of a spy. I shall contact you tonight with instructions, offer to take first watch and we shall speak whilst the others sleep. Do not fail me.

Onslaught on Oakfoot

The Shrouded Elf certainly perceived the weapon that Sileo had slung, but instead of trying to honourably save his leader, he instead dropped his prisoner and raised his hands, charging a blood-red spell as he went. Raspur was their leader by Soahc's appointment, but none of the mercenaries were going to put their lives on the line for him.

"Yargh!" Yelped out Raspur, his hand clasping about his arm just below the flechette's entry point. Spitting and cursing he wheeled around to where the assassin was approaching from, hawk-eyes zoning in on the mystery man. The Shrouded Elf was wary but fired off no shots- so long as the stranger was picking no fights with him, he had no reason to expend any energy. Kristov the Red put a razor below Molloran's throat in order to encourage the man to not get any smart ideas about escaping.

"Challenge?" Raspur Cain parroted with derision. "Yer think I'm in this for sport ?" He spat on the ground in disgust. "You're no common killer," he said, refusing to remove the flechette for fear that he would bleed out. "Too expensive for these pig-s***s to hire," he gestured at the town they were in. "That wide-mouthed c***-sucker set you up to this." He spat again.

"He's testing you, right?" Cain smiled like a wolf who knew its prey was caught, even if such an expression didn't reflect the current situation at all. "How long before he sends someone after you for the same reason, eh? We could scrap here like dogs and after I've torn your skull out through your bunghole it'll all be for naught, or maybe you get lucky and f*** me over real good. When Soahc finds a better playmate, you'll be just as dead as me."

"Unless..." he carried on craftily, nodding towards his captured quarry without removing his eyes from his assailant. "You kill this sausage swallower here and now, and we call it even. You seen who else this c*** has on his team? Hags, ghosts, and now some pyrophile who gets off of squatting on candles. They're traitors, every one, and Soahc the biggest f***ing traitor of all. But if we watch each other's backs, we might just get through this s***fest, right?" His free hand warily gripped at his whip, his injured one left dangling.

---

A stooped figure stalked Ryokin's exit from the coffee shop, attracted to the scent of gore as easily as a fly was attracted to ******. Her own wrinkled, malformed, beaked face was splattered with blood from her feast, her rows of canine teeth opened in a gasp as an engorged tongue rolled out to harvest what had been missed in her hurried devouring.

Ethyl was name she had been given by The Great Mother, her fourth eldest child, and most senior of the hags that accompanied Soahc. She had convinced three of her younger sisters to defect with her, to abandon their mother in search of their own glory, glory under Soahc the Deceiver. The hags knew him as Bloodgift, and he was near revered as much as the Hagfather, though not so highly sought.

The hagspawn, those slave children of the hags, called her Cold Ethyl, for she was meanest and most ferocious of her brood. Cold Ethyl's children accompanied her, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren, some of her children as old-looking as her, some young enough to be teens, all of them pawns in her arsenal. Their fathers were whatever men they'd enslaved over the years, which Ethyl would meticulously go through like a catalogue before finding the preferred one for her next spawn. Some of the hagspawn were full sisters, though most were only half, united only by their relation to her, their mother, their goddess.

Ethyl slithered from the shadows, draped in greens and purples with ringing beads hanging from her, peculiar feathers decorating the ensemble, she looked like the nightmarish shadow of the classical depiction of an old lady out in the woods, an abhorrent mockery of the image. Avians had an acute eyesight, and elven hearing was second to none, but where hags prevailed was in scent. Sniffing her prey like a bloodhound, Ethyl crept on over towards Ryokin.

"Bloodgift's new toy?" She hissed in disgust. "The fool draws too much attention to us, your addition will only compound this. I smell taint in you, you are no man. What are you, and what is your purpose here?" Her teeth clacked together when she spoke, and when she finally stopped her wet lips smacked together, sealing away her maw, her raven eyes staring beacons of hatred towards the demon.

The Plucky Hecatonchire

"I'm sorry to hear that kid," Rickard Herring said genuinely, putting a hand on Desmo's shoulder to show his sympathy. "You've no place to go then? You seem like you can handle yourself, strongest mage I've ever met and everything," he smiled as he repeated the boy's words back to him. "I'm heading out on an adventure, need to get away from the wife, you'll understand some day," he gave the boy a conspiratorial wink. "Care to come along? I won't try anything, I swear," he smiled reassuringly to put Desmond at further ease.

"I know we'll be the best of friends!" Announced Alania, sending an amicable punch at Alicia's shoulder to further cement their new-found friendship.

Elsewhere in the pub, the gruff and elderly Karstone Greatjohn shot abruptly to his feet.

"Well, no use wai'ing aroun' these parts no longer," he announced to the entirety of the tavern. "Ah'm 'eadin' north an' make no mistake," he let everyone around know. "It's a difficul' road, one best shared with friends. If yah int'rested, pipe up now, these ogres won't be kept waiting long."

Tilting her head sideways towards Alicia, Alania whispered, "Should we go with them?" She'd figured Karstone for a nutcase, with his twin hammers swinging at his belt, but it seemed that he'd recruited a knight- a real knight, chivalry and all, to his team. Admittedly it wasn't a very hygienic knight, but it had to count for something, right?

Still, Alania would heed her friend's advice, as that's what good friends did.

((Accepted Guthix, welcome aboard once again.

Whenever a group is about to change locations, I'm going to put their new location in bold so that you know which posts to look out for in future. For example, midway through my 'Lephre*h***'s Foot' post, I put Farmlands in bold. From now on, posts concerning the characters that started out in the Leprechaun's Foot will be under the heading Farmlands.

This means you won't get lost trying to figure out what post you're meant to be reading when the titles of the posts abruptly change.

Once again I apologise for the late post, happy roleplaying!

Annie saw that Etheldredda approve on her armor and the crystal shield slung across her back with a nod. She just smiled at her. She followed the group with Etheldredda in front, out of the Foot and started on their journey. She listened to Etheldredda's plan and orders. She said in a calm, brave voice," You got it. You have my loyalty and I trust you with my life. I like your plan. I agree with you. I am excited that I mentioned just be began." Then she fell to the rear that Etheldredda told her to go. She was excited to get to the wilderness because she would know that she on her to defeat enemies to complete this mission. She hopes she could save the world and this time people will remember it.

Judy heard Soahc respond. She was shocked and happy that he did. She was also shocked of his voice was as deep as the ocean's depths, as ancient as the world itself, with a cruel magnificence to it, powerful yet terrifying. She said in her mind to Soahc,"I understand. As you wish. Talk to you later." She looked over and saw them leaving so,she followed them and asked in a calm voice as she listened to everything Etheldredda just said,"where do you want me to be?"

Farmland Kuro

After heading out Kuro had got onto his horse. His sword was still in the sling like sack on his saddle. Kuro heard he was to scout out ahead he sighed and said, "Alright, I'll get going ahead."

Patting his horse on its side he said, "Alright girl, lets get going." The white horse trotted forward. Kuro couldn't argue with the plans that were made he didn't mind going out a head.

Kuro road onward ahead not questioning the plan as he was going to scout our ahead. Keeping his eyes open looking for anything out of the ordinary.

Outside of Gorebucks Ryokin

Hearing words that filled sentences he looked at Ethyl and smiled when she asked what he was cause she could see a taint in him he then said, "Oh I am sorry, I would have saved you a piece in there if I knew I would be entertaining company. I am Ryokin and your right I am not human which I will guess by the way you speak neither are you."

Ryokin brushed ashes off his clothing from his prior transformation he then said, "As for taint what would you call taint? I wouldn't say my powers aren't tainted I'd say they are more superior then an average human. As for not being a man I could show you that I am truly a man." He smiled at his own comment believing it was he was quite cleaver for coming up with it.

Ryokin continued speaking, "I am the lord of the crossroads, and keeper of souls. I normally don't show off like I just did but to impress the lord of chaos how could I not indulge in a bit of fun. I stuck a deal with him for my...services. Maybe I could strike a deal with you as well, what do you say wanna make a deal with a devil?"

His eyes glowed red after he asked as he was getting ready to try and make a deal with Ethyl, he also was left with a slight grin on his face after asking his question.

The Plucky Hecatonchire

"Come on...Come on open up you stupid lock!" said a bare faced dwarf by the name of Balmor. He was hiding in the pub trying to break into a door and steal anything in the next room.

Click!

"By my daddy's beard! I knew i could get that lock.", he opened the door into a room of the pub. It was rather empty rather then just a bed his eye brow twitched Balmor then said to himself, "I just broke into an empty room...for patrons to stay in...I really need to find myself better heists and stop talking to my contacts. They said there was a good opportunity for some money here.

He walked back into the bar area, walked up to the bar and said, "Tall glass of whisky! I need a drink, also buy a round for the whole pub!" He threw coins onto the counter as he said that, buying a round because he wanted to see reactions and assess the area.
