Zed

Zed's lips curled into a cocky half-grin upon seeing that he fried one of the hags as well as a few of the hagspawn. The attack was quite draining, but it had worked better than he expected, so he pressed on. Raising his staff higher, the electricity shone an even brighter blue, casting a mesmerizing glow on Rovaan's demonic armor and on the bloody husks of hagspawn he cut down.

But the Great Mother's eldest daughter personally began to counteract his magic. Watching her red lightning surge through the air and easily force back his, Zed dug his heels into the ground, but his feet slid backwards through the dirt as Morgne's red lightning overpowered Zed's blue. "Shit, shit, shit!" The albino managed to swear thrice before groaning as he struggled against the hagspawn's power. Blood red electricity crept closer and closer until it nearly touched the crown of Zed's staff.

Suddenly, her lightning cackled, lost focus, and fizzled outwards aimlessly. Zed released his spell as Morgne's magic no longer threatened him. He leaned on his staff and panted. The mage looked back to the center of the clearing, where the hags were all blown back by some release of energy—then he heard the footfalls. That could only mean one thing.

Turning to his titanic partner, he cried out. "ROVAAN!"

Henry

Henry nervously eyed Enrael's disturbing regeneration. It was sickening, but certainly better than being dead. He stepped past Kat, towards Alania and the hulking demon. He nodded when Alania thanked him. So he had chosen the right side after all.

Alania wanted to help the creature. She wanted to save this monstrous behemoth, believing it had just as much worth as any man, elf, or dwarf. She was truly a noble woman.

But then Spirry spoke of some eight-legged monster capable of slaying gods. By all means, it seemed that Alania was ready to trust this thing. Why the hell did it want to know what Alania wanted in life, when there was some god-killing beast slaying scores of ogres? He didn't have the patience for this demon's riddles.

Putting a hand on Alania's shoulder, he looked up at Spirry. "Sorry to interrupt, but it sounds like we should be stopping that Eight-Legged beast, and not talking about our hopes and dreams."

---

Sileo

At last the centaur herd was in range. The mechanical demon and the Pyromistress had conjured traps and hazards against the horse-men, but they carried on with admirable fortitude.

Centaur archers launched arrows at Spirry and the rest of Soahc's mustered forces. In one fluid motion the assassin unsheathed his sword, and with the flat end of his blade he batted away an arrow that would have otherwise skewered his eye.

"That was close. I'd hate to have to wear an eye patch." He muttered to himself, before unholstering one of his pistols. He took aim at the lead centaur's nearest companion and fired.
Ramsay Bolton is the king we deserve.

The moment the spiders had left their dwelling in the trees, their place was taken by Conleth. Having not been given any specific orders, he assumed the best course of action was to try and take out as many enemies, or protect as many allies, as possible.

Up in the canopy, he was now in his element, apart from the pesky spider webs he had to try and avoid. He had height, and could see the whole battlefield, at least as much as one could in whatever visibility this tainted forest had to offer.

He examined the spiders like bird watching its prey. They seemed more suited to destroying the enemies below them, appearing to lack any way of upward attack. But there was no way his knives were going to puncture an exoskeleton that thick...he figured would have to attack the eyes, or the joints of the limbs.

He would centre in on the first spider he could see which was threatening an ally, wherever that happened to be, and jump down on it, attempting to get onto its head and plunge a knive into one of the eyes, hopefully occupying it long enough for someone to deal with it.

If this succeeded, he would attempt to jump either back into the trees or onto another spider, and repeat the process.

On the Road

Although part of her had hoped he would turn down her request, even though she knew a fight with the two of them against a demigod would probably end in their demise, Siera could not stop a smile of her own from forming. Thorek seemed as committed to this as she was, and she could not deny that, should she survive, the tale of what would happen would likely be one that she could tell the common man and spin into legend. It was not why she was here and not what she really cared about right now, but it was part of her that, perhaps, knew she needed something more to have on her mind.

Besides, he was right. Maybe they would find others, and, like the heroes in the stories, arrive with an army at their back that they had seemingly gathered from nowhere. The thought was ridiculous - she knew such things didn’t happen in the real world; hell, the last god she had fought had been fought by no more than ten people who had converged in the right place out of luck - but one that was, perhaps, worth thinking might happen. They were going to arrive regardless, and so she could just hope that there would be more than just them standing before her target.

About to write another warning of some kind, Siera stopped, thought for a moment, and wrote a single line instead.

thank you

There was more she had to ask, though, particularly because of one thing that he had said. For a moment, he had sounded like he knew who Cadmus was, but although she was curious why it sounded almost like something he had forgotten that was not what she wanted to know more about. No, what she needed to ask about was what he had said about Soahc.

By this point, the flute had decided that it was bored, and so went to bother and annoy Robnoxious. It knew that Siera and Thorek were having a conversation, and didn’t want to disrupt that, but the hellpup wasn’t exactly part of that and was therefore fair game. It swooped down, but didn’t even manage to do anything before Robnoxious, with incredible speed and reaction timing that suggested he had been waiting for this, snapped out and caught the flute in his jaws. Once he had caught it, he held the instrument in an almost gentle fashion, although it was locked in so that it wouldn’t be flying around him anytime soon.

The instrument did not like this, and began making high-pitched shrieking noises. That lasted almost no time at all either, since Siera turned around and gave both of them a look that told them to cut the shit. The hellpup let go of the flute, which rocketed up into the air above the cart and began whistling sullen tunes in a clearly sulking manner. Robnoxious, however, looked quite pleased with himself, giving Siera’s face another big lick when she didn’t turn around fast enough.

I love the smell of horseflesh in the morning

Oh, this was fun. To watch such a charge and know that they were running into death was just a fantastic thing to see, and it was made better by knowing that what they were dying for was useless. Such a paltry army could not stop them, and while there would likely be losses on both sides Kira had no doubt that it would end with the herd destroyed and their side treading on the corpses.

Well, the rest anyways. Corpses were messy, and not something she wanted to get all over her shoes.

Keeping her elementals nearby for the moment, Kira’s eyes began glowing fierce red as soon as the fire walls erupted. Her cloak burst into flame, and fire began running all across her body as a burst of flames and heat shot upwards from her. It reached a few hundred feet before exploding outwards into a raging firecloud that expanded to around a fifty foot radius with the center of it above her head.

For a moment, nothing happened. Then, lances of fire shot out from the cloud, firing down into the herd. Like with the ones she conjured back at the previous town, the lances would explode like a fireball a moment after they had struck their target. Although she attempted to keep the lances from striking any of their army for the sake of cohesion, Kira wouldn’t have been too torn up about it if the demon out on the field moved into her line of fire. Everyone else was simple enough, since they weren’t far enough out to be struck, but when it came to the mechanical demon it was entirely up to him whether or not he got hit.

As of how, Kira remained where she was, the elementals flanking her. There was no reason to send them off to fight just yet; that could wait until the herd reached their ranks. It was doubtful there would be some kind of sneak attack either, but in the very rare case that there might be she felt it would work better to have her own line of defense.

Hell is here...and it is your fault

Save your f*cking breath.
” Kat snarled at Alania, her hand shaking in fury as she jammed the pistol back into its holster. She didn’t care what Alania had to say anymore, because it was clear now that she truly did intend to help this thing. If the monstrosities being born weren’t enough to convince the idiot that there was nothing here to “save”, then nothing short of a bullet to the head would solve the problem.

There was more she could say was she of a rational mind.

There was more she could say was she of a rational mind. There was much this demon had spoken of that she could argue against, and many things it had told them that proved it did not seek any kind of redemption whatsoever. Yet none of those were things Kat had the ability to speak of right now. Any words that came out of her mouth would be hostile, for the anger she was feeling at this point was greater than any she ever had.

Martha was right. Kat could hear it in her voice, see it in her posture. This fight was lost, and all they could do was keep their lives so that the next one would not be. It didn’t stop her from wanting to shoot both Henry and Alania in the head, but she had at least enough survival instinct to know such a thing would be death for them all.

As she turned to leave, though, Kat had one last thing to say to her former shipmate. It was a warning, a curse, and a plea, all at once. Her trust had been betrayed, her efforts had failed, and she was left with even less here than when she had arrived, yet now there was a purpose to her actions. It was not noticeable in her voice or her step, but she knew now that this had to be the reason she was here.

Although she managed to speak in a normal voice, the iron control that could be heard indicated how difficult it was for her to maintain that.

If you are following this path, you are not a knight. You don’t deserve such a title, and the lives that will be lost are done so by your hand. If you fail, may you rot in the hells, but if you succeed, I hope you live so that the knowledge of what you caused can destroy you for eternity.

The words practically being spat from her mouth by the end, Kat strode off into the trees, not waiting for anyone else. There was nothing more to be said, and if she tried it would end poorly. Now that she was turned away, though, the tears began to roll down her cheeks, tears of anger and despair, and she made no effort to stop them.

Dozens fell to Rovaan's titanic blade as he cut a bloody swath through the coven, spattering his armor in their blood as limbs and bodies flew through the air. This is what Rovaan lived for, the sounds of battle the iron smell of spilled blood, the searing of flesh, the cries and shouts of the combantants, all of it made Rovaan's blood tingle as he continued his merciless slaughter.

It was all going so well even with the hags turning on the counteroffensive sending in dire foxes. But soon things started to look grim as the hag nearest to their target began to cast magic of her own right at Zed after he had fried several hags with his lightning. Rovaan could not move to help as he was already bogged down by the menagerie of creatures arrayed against him and the rest of his companions. Things were turning grim indeed as in his slaughter, several hagspawn and their pets had landed a few hits on Rovaan's exposed flesh between the gaps in his armor. Black, almost molten blood spilled from Rovaan's wounds but that did little to keep Rovaan from fighting on as the wounds were not fatal nor very deep, but they ached non the less.

But, from the corner of his eye, Rovaan saw the traitor Skullvulture stand to his feet and sneak his way behind the Great-Mother and the hag casting her magic in attempt to rid the hags of Zed's onslaught of magic. Something transpired that Rovaan could not see, but the next thing he knew was that the hag spellcaster had a blade protruding from his body and was sent sailing into the hag's bonfire Skullvulture in tow. Rovaan had little time to shield his eyes from the blinding golden light that filled the darkness of the coven's home but as the shockwave came he planed his sword into the earth to brace himself. Then in the silence that followed, everything was still and silent, that was until footsteps could be heard in the distance shaking the very ground.

The hags had done it, with a little help from some glory hound and a traitor, they had summoned the Hagfather. Rovaan was not the only one to realize it, Zed was thinking the same thing and called for Rovaan. But, despite his current power and bravado, Rovaan did not have the power to fight what some considered a god.

''Zed, I do not have enough strength or power to fight the Hagfather. But I know something that does, or might have enough, but I will need time to work. I need a shield now!''Rovaan called to Zed over his shoulder.

~This either will be the death of me, or a new beginning.~ Rovaan thought to himself as he reached under his armor and retrieved an odd relic suspended by a thin silver chain.

The relic was a stone of some sort, or at first glace that is what it appeared to be. It had something glowing in the depths, a deep blood red glow swirling around inside a magical prison of magical molten glass. This relic was either the key to victory, or defeat.

Rovaan closed his wolfish eyes as he let out a heavy sigh as he wrapped his fingers around the relic and spoke in a long dead, forbidden language, ''Khoshena Hevena Venarak Tuwoth Ahzrahad.''

Then Rovaan crushed the relic in his hand, its fragile prison shattering, and the red mist contained withing escaped and swirled around Rovaan, staggering him as he pulled the concentrated mist towards his heart, now taking it in both hands to fight its strength. Whatever Rovaan was planning, this was the time to stop whatever it was for once the red mist reached his heart, there would be no stopping what happened next.

Hunt for Spirry

Henry seemed a little annoyed that the demon wanted to talk about life while a giant god-slaying monster was already wrecking havoc on the ogres. Spirry's face continued leaking blood as always; there was not a single moment when he was not dripping.

Then, Kat stepped in, clearly angered. Spirry looked at her, blood leaking out his empty eye sockets as always. A puddle of blood had formed underneath him. Kat was furious, probably wanting to say so much more, wanting to do so much more, perhaps stained by defeat or the prospect that actually killing this demon was not as easy as it appeared, at least not by conventional means.

Kat left, but spoke of a plea of knightly values. Spirry watched her go, but did not notice her tears. One of the fleshy beings popped its head form under a leaf, eyes big and shiny, and stared at Kat, wondering what it had done wrong.

“None of you know what I know.” Spirry assured, “But I do not know what any of you want . It is a simple statement to answer, whatever privation you desire.” He continued, then looked at Henry, “If you want to kill the Eight-legged One, you can sooner enchain shadows.” He said.

Spirry then looked at Kat who was walking away still, and said, “Look how she reveals her want , and cannot achieve it, like a spider who has caught too large an insect in her web.”

The skinless demon then looked back at Alania, asking, “With all your heart, genuinely, what do you want?
