Kaisen closed his eyes, but he couldn't feel anything. When he opened his eyes, he was still in the same place. He tried again, and still nothing. When he opened his eyes this time, Zharoun's smile wavered, but only for a moment.
"That's fine," he said cheerfully. "I can take us all up there. Ladies first." He held out his hand to Kalda. She grabbed it, and they both vanished. Kaisen felt his skin ***** with shame. Zharoun had expected more of him.
The Sage reappeared, and this time he teleported Saren up to the cave. Lastly, he took Kaisen up the cliff.
The cave was small, with some animal skins set out for a bed. On one of them sat Zorrath. His chest was wrapped in cloth bandages that were stained red. He was putting on his crystal armor over it. "I'm ready," he growled. "I'm far too tired of staying here."
"Yes," Zharoun agreed. "We're all a little tired of this place." He pointed to a spot on the wall that was marked with a blue insignia. "That is another special magic. It is a two way teleport. I made it when I teleported here from Keldagrim."
"Why from Keldagrim?" Saren asked.
"My cave on Trollweiss was attacked and destroyed by Agaben's forces. Don't worry, I saved everything I would need for the ritual. I can perform it at Keldagrim."
He fired a blue burst of magic at the insignia, and it projected a circle on the floor. "Step inside the circle," the Sage commanded.
"Wait," Kaisen interrupted. He turned to Zorrath. "You shouldn't come."
"Why?"
"Will you do something for me?"
"Of course, mage. Anything for the keeper of the silver dragon egg."
Kaisen gave him an enchanted emerald ring. "I need you to use this to go to Castle Wars, and then go west to Yanille. When you get there, will you tell Zavistic Rarve that...I'm sorry. I don't want our final meeting to be like it was. Please, ask him to bring some mages to Falador--we'll need them in the battle.
Zorrath agreed, and teleported away.

They stepped out of the portal into the dwarven city of Keldagrim. They were in a small house, and a dwarf sat before them.

"This is Commander Veldaban," Zharoun explained. "He has offered me his home for my ritual."

Kaisen looked at the ground and noticed a red circle drawn, surrouded by ancient symbols. A battered book was lying in the center.

"This is it," Kaisen murmured. "The dragon egg is about to be healed."

"Is it a surprise?"

"No, it's just that in the time since I left Port Phasmatys, this moment has seemed so far away. It's kind of wierd to see it happen."

"Well, here it is. Please stand back."

Kaisen gave Zharoun the dragon egg, talisman, and elf crystal, and he, Saren, Veldaban, and Kalda backed away to the opposite wall.

Zharoun placed the egg in the center of the circle. Then, he began to read from the book, casting a powerful incantation. Kaisen shivered with every syllable he spoke, and the torches around the room flickered uncontrollably.

A cold wind began to blow inside the house. The tempest settled around the egg, and then the ground around the dragon egg froze.

Fire leapt from the talisman in Zharoun's hand, through the elf crystal. The crystal glowed and released a burst of fire to the egg.

The silver dragon egg was engulfed in flames, and the embers burned through the ice. There was a bright burst of light, and it was over, with only the egg of the silver dragon alone in the center of the room.

------Chapter Seven: The Druids of Taverley------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kaisen walked timidly across the floor toward the dragon egg. Smoke still poured forth from the silent circle, the wafting gray cloud filling the small house.

Kaisen reached down and picked up the egg of the silver dragon. He felt it, and it seemed that the egg was on fire. He could feel a powerful warmth in the egg and some almost imperceptible movement of the creature within.

"It's cured," he said simply.
