Day 27 - Combat Training

After some thinking, namely considering certain aggressive monsters which become tolerant of you once you reach a certain combat level, I decided to postpone getting a ring of wealth and training combat a bit already. The amount of numulites to be missed isn't really that much though, so it's fine... didn't quite manage to do it all in one day though, gonna continue it tomorrow.

In other news:
-More completed quests: Enlightened journey, RfD: Evil Dave, Big chompy bird hunting, and RfD: Pirate Pete.
-Got my first Hespori seed from an apple tree at Brimhaven... damn it scared me, seeing the red text for the Karamja medium task appear at the same time as the seed popped in my inventory when I didn't expect it, is always going to cause an instinctive scare for me that I would've received the skilling pet instead. :P

Day 28 - Ironman Island

Whilst continuing my combat training, which is taking longer than I anticipated (one more day should do it), I also learned that the fossil island is more ironman-friendly than you might think as a main. I thought I'd only use it for some woodcutting, combat, farming and hunter training, but it's also pretty good for ironman prayer and crafting training, for the earlier levels anyway. You don't get many fossils, but when you do, they give quite a bit of prayer exp per fossil turned to bones, and for crafting, giant seaweed farming gives a looooooot of soda ash.

In other news:
-Reached 65 hunter, so I can now catch magpie implings. This way I can get key halves, combine them, and use them on the crystal chest to get dragonstones, for a ring of wealth at this point.
-Also reached 45 farming, enough to access the lower tier farming guild.

Day 29 - First Total Worlds

Reached 1250 total level today, so I can now enter the first total exclusive worlds. It's a decent total for an ironman, but for mains it's so common that the non-exclusive worlds sometimes have fewer people than the 1250 worlds. Ah well, still more options available just in case. :P

Still training combat, not quite done yet: the goal is 89 combat level, currently 86. One, maybe one and a half days and I can go back to questing again.

Day 30 - Melee 70s

Finally, after dozens of hours of training, I reached 89 combat (70+ in all melee combat skills), and can go back to questing now. Happened to get a few rare fossils too which helped me train a couple prayer levels to boot. Whilst doing bird house and farming runs, I noticed that giant seaweed tends to die pretty regularly if unprotected, even when applying compost each time... either the disease chance is pretty high for it in particular, or I got lucky with some trees, because I left several regular/fruit/hardwood trees unprotected with just regular compost, and none have died so far.

In other news:
-Starting to pile up on some Hespori seeds now; could already do 5 kills, but I still need a few farming levels to be able to access the mid tier of the farming guild. Gotten a couple spirit tree seeds as well, pretty lucky. :P

Day 31 - Sinister Keys

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I wasn't able to play much today, so I only managed to complete one quest, Scorpion catcher, today. Remaining time was spent training magic towards high level alchemy, by killing Salarin the Twisted with fire strike. Done correctly, it's extremely cheap yet still pretty fast early magic training, and it allowed me to get my first torstols! Kinda annoying though that the sinister chest was guarded by aggressive skeletons and being poisoned each time the chest was opened. :P

Day 32 - Solving Problems

Loads of questing today, solving people's problems across Gielinor. Completed quests include:

-Darkness of Hallowvale
-Zogre Flesh Eaters
-Tai Bwo Wannai Trio (including 100% favor in clean-up, no gout tuber yet though)
-Eadgar's Ruse
-My Arm's Big Adventure
-The Fremennik Trials
-The Fremennik Isles
-RfD: Lumbridge Guide
-RfD: Skrach Uglogwee
-Animal Magnetism

Most notably, nezzy helm is now my BiS melee helm (even for slayer, until I get a black mask), further progress in RfD has made gathering farming payments from culinomancer's chest easier, and range training is more relaxing now that 72% of the ammo used is automatically recovered. On a main I wasn't much of a herb farmer, but once I can get easier access to troll stronghold later on, the disease-free herb patch will be useful too.

Day 33 - Roadblocks (+ 1300 total)

I'm now over the 200 quest point milestone, and with fewer quests remaining comes a new challenge: quest requirements. To progress further, I need to train several skills, but most notably slayer and fletching (latter for getting a yew shortbow for temple of Ikov). So from here on, updates will be more about skill training than questing.

Completed quests today were:

-Haunted Mine
-Watchtower
-Contact!
-The Eyes of Glouphrie
-Olaf's Quest
-Tears of Guthix

In other news:
-55 magic reached, so my primary new moneymaker is now unlocked: high level alchemy!

Day 34 - Solving Problems... The Witcher's Way

Trained ranged for slayer most of the time today, but then I decided to forego fletching training for temple of Ikov in favor of just getting the yew shortbow from a monster drop; apparently the same monster, barbarian spirit, also drops mith grapples, which are also out of reach for me to craft myself, and which are needed for some diary tasks... so I thought it better to kill two birds with one stone than train multiple skills.

In a twist of luck, I immediately got the mith grapple drop, followed by another very soon after. But it took 3 of them in total (plus a rare rune scimitar drop) before, after a couple of hours, the yew shortbow finally dropped. So tomorrow there'll be some questing. :P

Day 35 - Twin Swords: Defenders

Seriously Jagex? Since I began to train slayer now, I thought it a good idea to get the dragon defender now that its accuracy starts to matter, but I spent whole 2 hours going 5 times dry on the drop rate for the bronze defender alone. It's the worst to go dry on the first defender since if you go dry on a rune/dragon defender, you at least already have the offensive bonuses of the other defenders to speed things up. Ah well... didn't manage to get dragon defender yet today, but I got an adamant defender, looking to finish this grind tomorrow. :P

In other news:
-Quests completed: Temple of Ikov & A Tail of Two Cats
-One of the cyclops dropped my first long bone drop (1/400)!

Day 36 - Costly Mistake

Geez, a simple missclick today cost me all the gp I'd earned from alching the stuff I received while grinding for the dragon defender; I was going to complete a hard clue to the wilderness, when upon trying to exit the corporeal beast cave, I accidentally clicked to the instance portal. Since exiting the cave requires a confirmation which I'm used to skipping quickly, I also skipped the warning for the instance portal to pay 200k gp for a corporeal beast instance. Of course I didn't want that and I didn't have that money with me, but it nevertheless took the money from my bank. That kind of money is huge for me at the moment. :(

Making mistakes like that are hard for me to overcome if I don't try to fix them somehow, so I went to the agility pyramid to collect pyramid tops for the amount of gp lost. That should teach me to pay more attention next time.

In other news:
-Dragon defender is now obtained! In the end, bronze defender took the longest to get.
-More quests completed: Between a Rock, The Slug Menace and Cold War.
