As a player, especially a subscribed one, it's more than a little concerning when the biggest update to happen in two months' time is content
removal
(i.e., the "sigil" slot).
Where are all the proposed quests? Or actual holiday events? A new Achievement Diary set reward ("item" slot is still free, I believe), perhaps? What about more low and mid-level bosses, so people aren't pressured to reach the endgame asap? More low-level and mid-level content in general, really. Heck, actually revitalizing the Wilderness would definitely breathe some life into the game. For one, make Wilderness Slayer actually lucrative and improve the Revs' drop tables. Most importantly, focus on improving the F2P experience (e.g. making farming the first Bond not so nightmarish), so people will
want to
stick around even after their membership lapses.
A game that doesn't draw new players
will
die. It's not a matter of if, but
when
. And it's not just that -- with these perpetual weeks of minimal updates and non-updates, you're not only failing to attract newcomers; you're failing to retain the vets as well. At this rate, the playerbase will have dwindled to nothing by the time Mobile (which nobody asked for, mind) is finally released. And sure, you'll see a jump in MTX sales and even subscriptions... at first. The issue with mobile gamers, however, is that they're not loyal. Not like PC gamers. The minute they see a better alternative, they'll be jumping ship and leaving you in the wind. And you'll have alienated all but the most loyal of your core playerbase by that point. :/
-EDIT- OSRS' weekly update was pretty lacking this week as well, but at least they regularly take player feedback into account. When's the last time we even had a poll in this iteration? Well over a year ago? I mean, is it even a surprise that the devs today are so disconnected from the players?
