So for any of you still having issues. I did try another option that is not listed in the help section. This did load me into the proper location with my current character.

Go to old school world selection on the website only.
On your mobile device select use the desktop version.
Then select a world.
It should let you login normally and play where you left off.

I know this is annoying but until they find the bug this will have to do.

To get to the desktop option
It won't be in the website itself it would be in the app you are using to access the website.
So in chrome there are the three dots on the right hand side at the top. Clicking that should give you a list of options, including bookmarks, history, etc. Near the bottom of mine shows desktop site with a check box. Clicking on that changes the version you are using. I don't have an apple phone but there should be a similar button for accessing the browser settings that should let you change the version you are using.
