I am completely against Iron Man mode. It's so dumb. Why should they have a special account? Iron Man is just a way to play the game, you just don't trade others or loot their drops. How hard is that?

I don't train my defence, it is level 1. Could there be special accounts where the defence skill is locked from accidental levelling? Could there be a skiller mode where all combat skills are locked? No? Why have an Iron Man mode then?

Seriously this is a joke of a poll question, 99% of the players won't benefit from this. In theory this mode has existed since the start of RuneScape. Why such a big fuss about it now?

This is a MMOR*G, one of the M's stands for multiplayer. Without trading or player interactions it's a one player game with a chat room underneath it.

I completely disagree with this assessment. Yes, it is a MMOR** but some of us don't like the multiplayer aspect. I've never seen such a high concentration of rude people in my life. Perhaps because you don't see other people you feel less compelled to show consideration but I personally hate it when someone else jumps in while I'm mining or cutting trees, or stands me up for a trade, or sets up a cannon when I'm working on a slayer task. Frankly I wish there was a way for there to be a skill that rewards considerate players. For all these reasons, I play RS as a solo game, I have no interest in the multiplayer aspect (or PVP - I wish Jagex would stop pushing that) and love the concept of Iron Man and Ultimate IM.

What you described is NOT inconsiderate. If you are training at a spot, and some one arrives with a cannon then YOU should switch because it slows you down. A smart cannoner picks an empty world in the first place to maximise xp gain, but even if they don't, you have no right to complain. The cannon is expensive to use and incurs a loss almost everywhere it's used. Therefore the advantage comes at a high price.

Trees can be shared and it's random how many logs per tree so I don't see how you're bringing that up. Apparently you just like to moan. But whatever, enjoy your Iron Man mode. To me that mode is like punishing yourself, but each to their own I guess. I like the PvP updates.

Ugh, I voted yes for Ironman.
But seriously. Why all the stupid restrictions?
Restrictions from minigame teleports? Restriction from solo minigames?
I get the shop restriction, but other than that - this is getting really stupid. Save all the other restrictions for the Ultimate ironman mode.

Also, it says you HAVE to create a new account to be able to play the new ironman mode. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Why not have a gamemode toggle?!
Or AT LEAST a "reset account" button. (Which would require decent authentication I suppose)

Not going to pay another membership subscription just to play this mode. I hope you understand that. You're losing almost everyone at that point.

I don't think you understand what ironman mode is if you are asking why there are restrictions.

Ironman mode should be plain and simple: no player interaction except chat.
Why all add the restrictions with teleports and doing solo minigames?
That is something we could have Ultimate ironman for.

Looking forward to Ultimate Ironman Mode! To the nay-sayers, it's okay if you don't have what it takes for UIM or the easy Ironman Mode version. ;)

Have a question, no bank access includes noting and unnoting correct? If I get noted pure essences from banshees I won't be able to unnote them at a bank?

Also, is there a QFC link to an FAQ about either mode? I'm sure there's been a lot of questions by now and I've only just thought of one. I know both modes on this blog is outdated, and seen the new section already so far. I'm going to work on reading through 24 pages for Q & A next.

Am wondering if Quest Point Cape will be possible with UIM also...so far I think it is?

If spirit shields don't pass I'm quiting. 75% is way to high as a majority of the rs community has half a brain. Also, I've seen updates fail with like 74.2% is that .8 % really enough to say F you to 3/4 the community. Joke.

something that might need addressed, hopefully this gets seen on page 15 (doubt it, sigh).

UIM players would be carrying tons of valuables on them at all times, or selling them to general shops, or alching them, and theyd have a huge cash stack on them at almost all times. or theyre forced to drop their cash stack when they have a small one, instead of letting it build up. inventory space is priceless, especially for some stats like slayer, runecrafting, or even mining. UIM accounts will be making basic, ordinary players absolutely filthy rich, because the UIMs cant hold on to everything.

Thanks for addressing this, because I do see it as a potentially big problem. Why? Griefers. People will circle around us UIM's like vultures waiting for you to drop that whip from abbys since you can't do anything with it...and if you alch it people will give you grief about it instead of dropping it for them. That is an extreme example, but it pretty much sums it up.

So yes this problem needs to be addressed before it becomes a problem. Any items you obtain at all cannot be traded or seen by the OTHER side as well. Will this hurt the economy a little bit? Maybe, but I think it was going to be hurt from Ironman mode anyway.

On an optimistic plus side however, you can make a lot of "friends" if you decide you want to slay ;p

If Ironman passes...can you
PLEASE
be absolutely certain there are no hidden ways people can transfer items/wealth.

1. Make sure no one can pick up what other players drop.

2. Make sure no one can place items on a TABLE (in a player owned house let's say), for the purpose of transferring. There are other tables in the game also.

3. Make sure no one can sell items to a store with one character, and then buy them with their ironman account.

If you like, I would personally help you weed out all the possible ways to exploit this system. If it CAN be exploited, players WILL find a way, I guarantee it! Please just take the time to imagine all the ways people could somehow transfer wealth/items, and seal them up.

I don't want to be working on ironman for a month, and then WAM!!! I discover people have been using 'secret method x' to transfer MILLIONS worth of items. That would really SUCK!!

If anyone who is interested in ironman likes my comment here, please quote it, and repeat it so Jagex sees this very very clearly.

Amen, I am quoting your post exactly like you asked! :)

Let me also add to your comment, if anyone is caught doing any form of activity breaking Ironman rules, they deserve to be banned on that acct or fully reset with all parties involved. The same penalties bug abusing on the game is in general with no exceptions.

Being a game, there will be bugs and people will abuse them however. This has been a fact since gamers started on Atari. I would love to think games are perfect all the time and people have 100% integrity.

Topic: Iron Man Mode
For me, Iron Man Mode is giving me a similar feeling as to how I felt when they first announced OSRS was going to be coming out. Yeah, I already have an iron man and yeah, I have a good bit done on it, but I am going to be overjoyed when I throw that progress away and start fresh on an official, competitive system should it pass. For me this is the update that makes or breaks my future with this game. I stopped playing actively a bit back but I still get on to check out updates posted occasionally...When I saw the possibility of an Official Iron Man Mode it renewed my interest for the game. I've actually been refreshing the voting page way more often than I should to figure out exactly how close the voting system is. I've always thought a 75% passage rate was asking far too much but as we've all seen by now, they don't seem to be working on changing that anytime soon. At this point it is treading a very fine line as to whether or not it shall pass(76.1257% yes, but it has varied in the hundredths by several numbers within several minutes of refreshing, let alone days from now when the poll closes) but if 25.0000001% of the game manage to get rid of game style anticipated by the rest of the community and the Dev team scraps the idea I'll be sorry to say that it'd be enough to make me leave once and for all. If you are for Iron Man Mode or you are indifferent I am literally begging you- PLEASE GO AND VOTE - the vote is close enough that YOUR VOTE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE(look at the percentages I put above)

Edit: Sorry for the long post; what was a few words in my head turned out to be a bit more :D . Thanks for taking the time to read.

Being a decent leveled iron man with my own Amulet of Fury, berserker ring, fire cape and all the other things that make these accounts fun I'm not interested in the new Iron Man mode at all.

I don't want to spoil the fun for everyone else but this account has gotten all of it's accomplishments because I had a very long summer break before I started university. Now that I'm in uni I'm forced to study at least 4 hours a day, making it very difficult to play Runescape properly. I went from level 71 to 80 fishing in a mere 10 days because of studying. Having to restart everything and going through the tiresome process of 83 hunter, 85 crafting, getting a fury, camping rex forever to get a zerk ring, doing barrows for a potential karils xbow, making money to get a crystal bow just doesn't seem appealing to me at all.

If the veteran Iron Men won't be recognized with a veteran badge or whatever I feel that even in 12 months from now my official Iron Man account won't be as good as this one currently is (not even 4 months old) simply because of the time I spent on this and the time I will be able to spend on my new account the rest of the year.

I hope that Jagex looks at the 'pioneers' of the Iron man challenge, the people that promoted it and made it mainstream and give us the possibility to get recognized in game. If not I don't think I'll be renewing my membership, nor will I be competing on the new iron man highscores. It was a fun run.

implying anyone cares
