This is the deal breaker for me too. I will not make a new account and pay for subscription just to gain access to iron man mode.

What I'd like it something like a lobby for OSRS where you decide whether you log in to play iron man or basic OSRS.
Or maybe just make separate servers for iron man mode. And when you log there, it'll be a completely different game "iron man OSRS"? I don't really see the point of playing iron man in basic OSRS servers.

And about spirit shields:
Give them some negative and positive attack bonuses
too to more clearly
define them into combat classes
.
Also a note for the spectral spirit shield: give it some ranged attack bonus.

Love the idea of ultimate iron man, This is exactly what im looking for.
Been thinking about it since this was released and it would just feel amazing having to juggle items in your inventory, forced to sell rune items to shops from monster drops to get money. How amazing i would feel picking up a rune med helm from a greater demon and even getting a rune longsword drop. I feel this is the weirdest update ever that actually directly combats the problem i have with 'dead' items being brought back to life. I think it is genius and will give such life to runescape for more hardcore players that seek the ultimate challenge.

The ONE problem i do have is, although i love the idea of not being able to bank and losing everything on death. I dont think it is over the top, I just think it is stupid to not allow a bank deposit for coins ONLY. theres is a difference between making the game unplayable and taking 20 years to get some sort of progress, and making the game really hard. I think not being able to keep gold safe will just cause huge problems, The ammount of gold aquired wont be that much which is why it would be a major problem.

Why do you REQUIRE it?

You don't.. it's a playstyle where you're limiting yourself, just like pures, and pures don't get their own world so I don't see why iron man should..

In order to enforce the rule set we require custom worlds so that the restrictions are not unplayable and invasive. There are going to be so many glitches and exploits it's unreal.

Without proper implementation this could be a huge flop.

Here's a thought:

-2 PvP worlds
-2 standard worlds
-easyman can't attack HC and vice versa

I just wanted to clear the air about the shop situation in Iron Man mode for those of you that are confused. Understandable because the wording is confusing. However:


Question: Should iron man accounts have restircted access to shops? Items which are already in a shop and can only be bought from a shop or are only dropped by monsters will remain available to be bought

If this question votes as yes:

Any item in a shop that is either sold to the shop by a player, can be crafted in game, or obtained anyother way can not be bought in shops. This excludes drops that are strictly monster drops.

What this means:
Rune armor can be crafted and can therefor not be bought from shops
Runes can be crafted and can therefor not be bought from shops
Dragon Scimitar can only be bought from shop. Therefor it will be available.
Ropes can be crafted and can therefor not be bought from shops
You get the point

Not keen on having ironman as a mode in game. Nothing against players taking the challenge, just as I have nothing against players with pures.

Pures can be recognized by their stats, and in a way by their fighting styles. There is not a "pure mode" that keeps them from gaining certain xp; nor has any helpful xp-blocking measure been supported. It is up to each player to work to remain a pure, and if they want recognition they can direct other players to view their stats.

Statistics would be a fun way to recognize ironman accounts and to have proof of completing other challenges, without straying from the current means of recognition. Viewable like the AL but reporting statistical information instead of a timeline of drops and level ups, similar to the statistics pages on certain console games. "Completed x trades with other players," "...x rounds of barbarian assault," etc. Properly done, a statistics scroll could be used to prove ironman status or something more simple (like having 99 mage without ever having bought a rune, smithing never bought any ore, cooking never bought raw fish, etc) or knowing some things just for fun, like how much total gold you've spent.

Why not just vote yes for ironman mode? It's a whole lot of update that mostly benefits nobody. Let us decide what's ironman and what isn't, the same way we decide what's pure and what isn't. Statistics would offer proof for an ironman player and yet also be fun for most players.

With the new Divine spirit shield rework, what happened to the option where if the damage reduction effect is lowered to 25% . The effect of your prayer point being drained by 50% of any damage negated will no longer be there?
