too mod reach,

giving partyhats each year has no point whatsoever,

you can give everyone that plays now 2 sets, but count this as the last year,

then evryone who playes now, we are the actual community, has the chanse to get even 5 phat sets or more, even the biggest poorest noob,

then its fair, theres no point giving these phats 3 years from now.

whats the point of them otherwise?

There is no point to them. They're a vanity item with only one purpose, fun. They were never intended to be discontinued rare items you hoard in order to make bank.

I'll clarify that this is only a brief to get feedback on. It's clear there are many who do not like the idea which is perfectly fine. If you don't like it, we won't do it! :)

What about snow balls after the event? like it was in the 07 event

I'd like to keep them. Sadly, we don't have the snow globe as that came from 2007 event but we do have the snowballs you pelt at Gublinches during this Christmas event. I'm sure we can find a way for you to keep them and collect more afterwards if necessary.

reindeer hat -right click "get snowballs"- is that possible?

You know what, I'm done with skilling to be honest. Done.

What's the point in training right now and take loads of time doing a skill if easier methods for crying little babies who can't handle the current ones are just going to be polled down.

It's useless. Starting with slayer, probably the best skill in RS. Why make it easier, it loses sense of achievement, and people who worked hard to train it at 15k xp an hour just get a slap in the face.

You slapped me with slayer, but it sure as hell won't happen with the rest. Time to wait for the easy crap methods we always had to come along.

Time to go stake and merch. Make money and make those easy methods easier. Why am I going to waste time doing skills now. Might aswell just wait and save hours of my life.

Love the path back to EOC old school is taking.

Hey - Rainbow phats for everyone!

PS - I was a huge fan of the idea of you guys consulting with us every update, and I loved your work and commitment at first!!

However this was supposed to be OLD SCHOOL RUNESCAPE and I was kind of hoping you would know where to draw the line with what you sugest and poll, therefore avoiding this GOOD VERSION OF RS we were able to save, to be ruined like RS2 was.

As a very old fan and player of RS it's heartbreaking to see it go down the same path again.

PSS - Would love a response from Mod Reach or Mod Mat K.

Yo - I'll address this one.

We're certainly not trying to make things easier or belittle anyone's previous achievements. The fact that skills are somewhat more tedious and require more commitment and effort is the essence of what Old School is really and we're not ready or likely to just throw that out the window and take giant leaps forward.

The reason behind the Slayer update was because it lacked convenience. Something the community made us well aware of very early on. Much like the other quality of life updates we've introduced, they're not there to make the game easier but to give you a better run.

What necessarily about this slayer update do you feel makes it easier? Potentially elevated XP rates from the time trial slayer? Larger slayer assignments? These are all things we're definitely willing to adjust if the sentiment is that they're too OP :)

Yo Mod Reach! Thanks for the reply!

First of all - 'convenience', as you put it, is just another term for faster and easier in what's related to OSRS skilling.

The thing is the xp rates. As you know, along with smoking kills came the dungeon in polivneach, where you could basically cannon specters, which was amazing xp per hour. Then came the blood altar to cannon velds (also insane xp).

If the slayer helm comes out, you will be able to use it on tasks like dust devils, which will make them A LOT faster. It's just the logic behind the updates.

I had a lot of faith that you would do a great job as I used to speak to Mod Mat K in my old RS2 account and I have all the confidence in him. Now I see you're one more of the good ones.

However, everyday more I see OSRS becoming pre-EOC RS and I will tell you why:

With these small updates that improve 'convenience', we are slowly on the way back to the same old ways. From these little changes we will go to ZMI rc'ing, run update, probably better agil xp per hour on the new rooftop agility courses and time trial slayer will be simply abusive most likely.

So far in OSRS there has been a huge mistake in my view, both from your end aswell as ours. First, from yours, because even though you're trying to improve the game following our oppinions, there are certain things that I don't even understand why they're coming out, or even being polled: Black H'ween masks, Armadyl crossbows (what the hell is this - and why does sara boss drop it) Staff of the dead (huh?), and now Rainbow phats? No, just no. And from our end, because people asked for OSRS so much and now all they vote for is things that only change it.

It's funny. Two days before the announcement of OSRS I created a thread on my old RS2 account (D Dragon280) asking for 2007 servers. Asking along with it, a lot of thinking before changing things in it once they were out, because a game has to evolve, but not like this. and not in this direction.

First of all- Congrats to Dan!

I've been away from Old School for two days to raise money for charity on RuneScape 3 and it feels like I've missed so much... Only just caught up on the last stream which I missed- some really epic news!

Slayer-

Would it be possible to use some old monsters around Gielinor which would not otherwise be used that much? Even if it's low-end monsters from quests or random locations, I think it's a shame not to give them a new lease of life.

Phats-

I've seen quite a few posts concerning Phats which seems to be a bit controversial- I personally think it's a good idea to release them yearly at their respective event. One thing I really did not like nor agree with in RuneScape 3 is the fact they're crowded by wealth. With Old School I see the prices as fair and semi-balanced- granted, they'll never be worth something huge, but I think that's a good thing not only for the economy- everyone can get one which makes it fair.

Rainbow Phats (in my own opinion) fit very well with the wacky theme of the game, it should fit in quite well.

Agility-

I was watching the last stream last night, watching Dan running around the courses and I thought in some places it could do with a little more failing points which you would get on a regular course.

My first would be falling through a 'Weak roof', if you fail to jump the distance, the player would crash through and have to climb back up on the roof.

'Weak Slate' Should the player fail this obstacle they would tumble off the roof and be forced to climb back up, this could be on the sloped sides of roofs.

'Loose bricks' When climbing the wall obstacle some bricks could fall out and cause the player to fall back down.

For Dan's Alkharid course using the jump-rope, could you put a roped/wired platform in the middle of the jump so it's less of a huge attempt?

Some great stuff, really looking forwards! :)

@ RS07 David

I agree with you about the slayer stuff, but let me explain the Armadyl crossbow and the staff of the dead to you.

Armadyl Crossbow is a weapon from RS3. In the lore of RS3, the crossbow is stolen from armadyl by commander zilyana. That's why she drops it and not armadyl.

Staff of the dead is a staff of light. This was added to give magic a little boost since it's underpowered most of the time. As there are no Ice Strykewyrms in this game, the staff of light is dropped by the Zamorak boss. They renamed the staff to make it sound more evil like Zamorak.

Thanks for the lore information, wasn't aware but makes a bit more sense now.
(When the game kept getting worse and coloured whips etc started coming out, I quit, so not really up to date on the stories that backed up certain updates).

However, you said it. ITS A RS3 WEAPON. It's not for OSRS. It's like saying, lets make OSRS old school but introduce Runespan. Pointless.

I don't see whats the point of all this new stuff. We begged for OSRS for so long to do what we're currently doing? If you like Old School stop introducing these things. And rainbow phats, black halloween masks, etc just add insult to injury.

And any way you look at it, I'm sure more and more updates that we had in pre EOC will be put into OSRS.

It's like I said, I won't bother anymore with skills, I'll max out slayer because I like the cape and get 70 agil for Sara. Then I'll just do GWD / stake / merch up until the point when overloads / summ / zmi, etc come out.

Also, I'm already reading things about chaos tunnels. One more easy access. Oh well.

I agree with those that want Party Hat Sets given to all participating players. They are supposed to be fun items with no value. If they don't enter the game fast enough, their value will go up. From what I understand all tradable holiday items have alch values of 0 and 1 for a reason.

Also, I loved the Smoking Kills quest and would gladly take it in a graphically gimped version.

Awww.. In fact I was looking for the quest the most.
I hope there are some quests in plans for OSRS. :|
