At first I was all for this skill, but the more I thought about it the more I think it isn't what oldschool needs. In broad strokes my reasons for thinking this is that a lot of this content seems like stuff that would be dead content right out of the gate. the fish fillets don't seem useful, the totems seem totally out of place, everything either seems like it wouldn't actually serve a purpose or like something that would prove detrimental to the game, I won't go too far into detail on that as there are plenty of other folks that have already made the potential issues abundantly clear.

What I think people want, is a game that has a future, but is still true to oldschool, we don't want something that stays the same forever, otherwise by the nature of runescape it would die off. No one played classic and that was because there was no reason to. I would love to see continuations onto the storylines that are already in the game, there are a ton of them. I know that EOC has a lot of them but I haven't been exposed to that virus in years, so I have no idea what is going on there. What I would like to see is more expansion everywhere in the game, and in different ways that with EOC. I want crystal halberds, I want to know what happens with the dwarfs in this version of the game. oldschool needs to differentiate its self and prove that it's more than a sentimental way of playing the same game, and while it is true that artisan is something that would be new to oldschool, it isn't something that would necessarily offer any vast new things to do in the game*

To summarize: Artisan has too many flaws to be overcome. oldschool needs updates that take it in entirely new directions. I voted yes on the first two polls, I will be voting no now, and for any future polls of this content.

Whilst I really like the idea of Artisan in principle, and would really like to see some updates to skilling to supplement the large amount of combat and slayer updates recently, I think Jagex need to be careful to make sure that Artisan adds to skilling, without spoiling OSRS. A friend of mine who plays RS3 often talks about how he uses urns to train more or less EVERY skill. I wouldn't want this kind of thing to exist in OSRS.

New resource gathering areas would be nice, if implemented well, new resources would also be a great addition. Craftable cosmetic clothing and wieldable crafting tools are also a great idea. Totems and filleted fish are debatable, though if the fish are untradeable, the risk of using a herb for potentially no effect perhaps balances it out. However, if these fish are tradeable, then there's a huge risk of players in PvM/PvP situations always choosing to buy filleted foods which boost attack/strength/defence/prayer. These could potentially spoil the game if not implemented wisely.

I think a bit more work needs to be done yet before it is to have a final poll, as in some patches the information isn't completely clear (e.g. do Artisan masters require only an artisan level requirement, skill requirement, or both?) For players concerned about whether Artisan will spoil the game, I probably wouldn't worry. Remember that a 75% majority will be needed to add ANY new content into the game. The OSRS devs also seem to genuinely care about the game and are passionate about it, unlike RS3 which is undoubtedly being milked for pure profit. I genuinely believe the OSRS devs want what is best for OSRS.

Absolutely voting NO to this skill due to the runecrafting level bonuses. Older players already got slapped in the face in the regular game because of updates like Runespan and lamps/keys. Can we atleast leave this skill alone or get rid of the level boosts for it completely. People being able to make double nats at lvl 88 rc or any level below 91 for that matter, is just not fair at all.

PS: Please don't consider summoning in the future either due to the Graahk tele. Nats are already low enough in price as it is. I know summoning hasn't been mentioned yet, but since Corp is coming to OSRS (this game is only called 2007 because of the old graphics I guess now) , anything is possible now.

I want artisian to pass, but don't want runecrafting clothing, as nature rune price will drop, making it less profitable for 91 rc'ers, maybe add craftable runecrafting pouches instead of going into the abyss and grinding, you can just craft/repair them yourself.

This new skill may be getting more details but it really doesn't feel old school and it feels like it's really being pushed on us by the devs because they organised multiple polls for it and they are polling each bit even if it fails.

Personally I like a lot of the ideas but there are only a few things I can imagine happening well in old school, and thats partically because construction shortcuts were a PDC that seems like a great idea a year or so ago.
When artisan poll happens I won't vote for it, it's really not the feel of old school and I doubt it'll get as many people in the game as this dev blog makes out, but I feel that construction shortcuts would do well.
I like the idea of 2H crossbows but I believe RS3 has that and if we have that we might as well introduce dual wielding and I even though it sounds cool I doubt it'd be good in osrs.

So thanks for some great ideas but in reality I can't see this as old school :)
RIP Forums :(
Finally we have signatures in the surprise forum update. I'm Lewis, I play Old School & I've been playing since 2005.
