I like the fact that it's reviving skills but I don't agree with the pickaxe/hatchet combo. Thus killing dragon hatchet/pick prices and I will be voting no.

If you read closer you'll see the pickaxe and hatchet actually require the Dragon ones to make, so if anything it will boost those items, not kill them.

@Mithril Jedi from page 29

I apologize for the late response but anyways,

I'm not making it seem as if the skill needs to be all about money but my point was pointing out the value of time which of course will involve money. I stated that just like careers you will also be looking for happiness which of course includes self achievement. I know what the community wants by what I read on the forums which a lot of people seem to miss and I can tell in a few posts you have made, you do the same. You claim you like the concept of the skill, which I think the majority that said yes for artisan vs the other skills did too like myself. When the details of it came out it all turned into a big NO. I love the concept and have posted before that I do but the details suck, plain and simple. You have a few things that mostly every NO voter has stated they liked but it comes at the cost of what majority hates, such as the runecrafting robes. What's the problem with doing nats at 88? Well like RS3 the runecrafting skill was devalued due to the minigame. I myself got 99 RC in like a month...when on a sunny day, I would have still had the lowest RC req for quest because of the length it took b4 hand. That whole self achievement belonged to those who stuck with RC till 91 and even till 99. It also rewarded them something that 90% of the community didn't have which made them good money. Now you turn that into something even more people can do which will cause nats to drop and that whole self achievement goes away. Again, if this had been reviewed better by the dev team then the skill would have passed. Yes they have done a fantastic job with 07 but they are still jagex and from updates I have seen since 2004, they read maybe the first 10 pages or a few posts from those pages and then we see updates that 3/100 asked for....NOW we can say NO to these unlike before.

Also with jobs, not everyone works because they want to but because they have to such as to provide for a family or surviving period. They may not choose a job they enjoy but one they can do and of course this is why stress exist in the average working person. The jobs that they HAVE to do pay little for a lot of time and when they are able to get through that time to find a job they enjoy that pays more, they reap the rewards. Some may even get into starting their own business just like for skills when we first start out, we don't make much if any money from it at all but we spend time on it. We might enjoy it as well like I did for dungeoneering and summoning but because I had a goal to reach in both. Getting 99 in summoning didn't matter to me until I became slightly wealthy because there was no point after yak really. Steel titan was nice though but yak was #1. I like many others quit when eoc came out because I felt jagex didn't listen to any opinions at all and on the forums EOC received the same criticism as artisan, the concept was nice but once out on beta people said this WAS NOT READY. It took maybe a year or 2 before anyone said that EOC was actually decent but that could have been avoided if they had listened. Now we are trying to help good ideas/concepts out by giving our criticism and what WE the PEOPLE feel should be changed. They have done a great job with previous updates such as the PVM ones but now for skillers they seem to not listen as much.

I'm tired of seeing people claim pvm/pkers are only voting no or those voting no because they are still on that whole" we voted for 2007 and that's it" bull. WE voted to have the old combat system back...simple which 2007 was the only way to get that. NO ONE SAID "we want RS 2007 back!!" We said we wanted pre-eoc back and 2007 was all they had so we took it because they stated " we can add player suggested ideas that has never been in rs before as well but these will be POLLED"

I wouldn't think adding the new trees and ore is a good idea. The reason the skills we liked passed our approval was because they only enhanced existing content in the game and what they added was self contained within the skill itself. My biggest problem with eoc as it grew was that it just added piles and piles of new stuff to the point where it wasn't connected together very well.

Think I'm looking forward to this skill though people will try it and level up their other skills in the process and hopefully they'll stay on old school now that they've got a better foothold

Lastly,

For those about why people are voting No and that we need constructive criticism......lol wow more people who don't read....how much more constructive can people be about NO to the various things such as the fillet fish, or things giving stupid chances or the random teleports which require like level 88 and should be instant instead of random....I'm all for making convenient ways to train skills but easier NO. I don't want crazy increased exp but little helps...not a +3 boost so i don't need 91 to do double nats. I rather have the robes gain like a cosmetic effect from crafting at the altars and have a color reflection of that altar or something that will also give you a few free teleports nearby every hour. This will be based upon level. Higher artisan means more teleports but not an insane amount. For nats, maybe teleport them 15 paces away from the altar but if they're 40 Artisan, it's only 3 free per hour. 60 is 5, 80 is 7 and 99 is 10. It's not going to devalue the skill and it's almost acting like a limited graahk. Please stop voting for the concept alone and that goes for both sides, especially the "this isn't 2007 or im voting yes because i'm a skiller or no because i don't skill" noobs.

I too am tired of seeing these new dev blogs for a skill that's constantly getting bad reputation now because it's like one small thing changes and it's time for a new one, yet the other problems still exist. How about we focus on the trading post and other updates first...haven't seen updates on those in awhile.

How about we start polling other ideas now. Even though you stated d claws or summoning may not be added to the game....yet you are able to create new items and even proposed familiars through the first dev blog on the artisan skill. How about you poll if people want something like summoning or d claws and see where it goes...maybe dragon boxing gloves....be cool to see a spec for that! but it's an idea. Add the pets to artisan but change it

As many a forumgoer or two has posted on this thread, it is baffling to me that any developer would consider the addition of a new skill to OLDSCHOOL RuneScape. Is that NOT a fundamental enough reason to shoot down this idea? We have seen plenty of new content updates that have indeed improved the game, but it must be known that each new update TAKES AWAY from the oldschool feel of the game. With that being said, I would have been completely happy had updates to the game STOPPED after the addition of God Wars Dungeon again (again, a personal note), though I am happy that the majority of players are satisfied with new and returning content (rooftop agility, autochat, slayer helm return, etc.). The nostalgia that the majority of oldschool players know and love, however, really shouldn't be tainted by a major addition like the artisan skill, plus...

WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU ADD SOMETHING SO MAJOR SO QUICKLY?!?
For the love of Gielinor, think about the shellshock involved to the easygoing community of players who log in after a long day of #reallifeprobs to unwind in this games wonders.

Perhaps the most important point is this:

Most players do NOT want the addition of a TON of new and hard to understand items, complicated skilltraining and boosting methods, and a hurricane of new content.

REMEMBER: This is why we have developed a hatred of 2014-Scape.

Having read and reviewed many players' views on this skill, too many of them argue artisan's unnecessary complexity, blight of oldschool feel, and, randomness.

I hereby remind all who view this post that my view is one of the many thousands of all RuneScape players, and apologize for any offense or fireups that any of you may have taken. But PLEASE, I urge the community's NO-VOTE for both artisan and its amenities.
