This is a truly dead platform/arena for communicating with the jmods but I have to voice my opinion somewhere.

The jmod's festering desire to update the game is inherently counter-intuitive to the "old school" intention of the 2007 server. The balancing changes are detrimental to the state of the game you jmods created-when you make everything OP and let the playerbase build a meta around said OP updates, it shows poor judgement and poor game design to retroactively go back and balance the poorly thought out updates you pushed before.

The subreddit makes me sick, and jmods don't care to listen to the players of their game when in game. It's just a social media echo chamber of casuals. I've been playing runescape for 18 years now and the way the game has evolved does not reflect the playerbase. The vast majority of players go under represented- pkers, stakers, cute noobs, and other degenerates are drowned out by the reddit neckbeards and that vocal minority.

There is a stark difference between what players in game want, what the jmods want, and what is truly healthy for the game. This isn't a jmod rant post, it's a general distaste post. Please stop ruining the game I love before it is too late.

If I didn't have my own goals and find my own enjoyment from this game I love, you jmods and the hot garbage updates you force into the game would have driven me away long ago. I feel as though jmods are scratching their skin like drug addicts just waiting for the next useless dungeon update they could push like today's isle of soul crap. Keep old school old. You can AND SHOULD add tasteful, thought out updates but don't further ruin the game.

It's depressing to know the legacy server project has become about quantity of updates over quality, because those of us who have been around long enough know that jagex will screw things up as they have before. At this rate many players are wondering which senseless update will be like the new wildy removal/EOC of this game.

So basically you didn't listen to any of the forums/post regarding the blowpipe. You legit just copy and pasted from the last post (lazy if you ask me). Please start listening to your players and not yall own ego, because that what it seems like .I fully agree the blowpipe is to powerful but there are better ways to combat this without just tanking it. A lot of players cannot afford a acb and even more can certainly not twisted bow. If you nerf it there needs to be a weapon fill that gap (something you literality stated in your last post). For many players, the blowpipe is the only reasonable option to achieve mid game content (i.e the fight caves). I agree with your three issues (price, power of the weapon, and requirements to wield). Think about this:
-Nerf it but add an attachment (such as the ornate maul handle) to return it to its current state.
+This makes it more expensive with out making it a 1bil weapon.
-Make the Blowpipe with the attachment 78-80 range
+80 range is way different than 75 and helps represent the tier/power of the weapon (this
is how you are solving the same issue with the other weapons)
I personally agree with everything in the equipment rebalancing (even the d'hide) except the blowpipe. You all said yourself you need something to fill the whole left by the bp. Let the attachment be that or add a new weapon. A new weapon should have been ready along with the nerf (again something you admitted!

Rip 1 def accounts. Get shafted in all updates. So are you guys giving me back the crystal shards I wasted on my blade or am I out those and same thing with my vls. Can I just get my tier 9 and 50m back. Hard to justify playing still when you nuke pvp and now your stripping pvm away from us as well. Guess I’m either left with getting combat levels to boss like I have been the past several years. And those combat levels will put me in a worse bracket where I might as well stay on a piety med if irons want an instanced wilderness jamflex will probably give it to them...

Rants are legit. In my humble opinion, retroactively nerf correction/rebalancing is damaging to this game considering players have been playing like this for a long time now since the release of those affected items. Keep in mind that runescape is mainly a game people play for a long long time. So if you change something that has been already implemented for a while, it will backfire, because the players are already accustomed to those items/systems.

I think Jagex wants to do the right thing. I know from a business perspective things may change. The corporate world is a hellova strange game to play, but I know the Jagex team is trying their best to make this right. I personnaly think the solution isn't in retro active nerfing though.

I think it's important to notice that usage of polls is currently the best way to follow players ideas and to implement new projects accordingly.

Personally I enjoy Pking, PVP and slayer. That's my cup of tea. I'm gonna have to add more attack levels to my account (maxed with 75 attack) and to do this after so many years playing like this is kind of hurtful.

This is what I propose :
-Keep polling and making decisions according to poll results

-Equipment balancing is important, but Jagex needs more imagination to do this. Why not propose to the players new items, staves, spells that have different attack speeds? Just like the harmonised nightmare ORB. That was a genius idea IMO that you guys added that makes Mages REALLY dangerous now. But, its 1BIL items lol. Still, a very nice update. That's the kind of stuff that we need. We need more strategies during fights. Add armor effects like full dragon armor effect, or spells that allows us to switch prayers (like nightmare special attack that makes melee become mage, range become melee etc). If community is not satisfied, why no propose a mini game that could have features like this?

-Raids in the wilderness, item attachments is a good idea too. Cmon guys!

So everyone that saved up the money to buy a blowpipe because they understood that they were buying a weapon with a particular set of stats are now just gonna get shafted? I'd say a make-right is in order for those who lost money due to jagex's oversight.

As others have mentioned, I hope the core motivation for these changes was not to make room for future updates. The reason I left RS3 was too many updates, too much diversity of equipment choices, too much of a "treadmill of prior metas" vibe. I know that Reddit and Twitter feel differently, but most of us do not play the game for constant new content -- also most of us, and certainly all the new players I introduced to the game, do not consider the game "too easy" or "easyscape." As another poster on here said, I would be happy with an update only every 3 months even--nice well-thought-out updates. And some tweaking of existing content along the way (not drastic changes to existing metas, however).

Nevertheless, I have come to accept the BP and dhide plans (though the dhide changes make me depressed, and the repeated use of "combat triangle" as the reasoning gives flashbacks to EOC like the last time an American holding company destroyed this game); HOWEVER, the Bulwark nerf is just laughable. The reasoning: combat triangle. K. It is as rare of a COX reward as D Claws and Ancestrals.... it was priced at 6m precisely because of its overly niche uses (really only for safety in wild and a couple other instances). D Claws--clearly very powerful, Ancestrals -- borderline OP, Bulwark -- barely useful. And what do y'all choose to nerf and transform into dead content?....... somehow the Bulwark?

If PKers can't hit through Bulwark, they should risk more. Don't balance the Bulwark--a very rare reward from endgame content--around PKers' fear of risk. Don't turn it into dead content. What use will the Bulwark have now? Why would someone wear a 2handed shield just for range def only? There was a reason we casual players appreciated the Magic Defense in the wild.... Just sad that we will have dead content, a junk drop from COX. Please reconsider the Bulwark nerf. It doesn't affect me personally, but the reasoning of Combat Triangle is laughable for such a niche & rare item.

This.

Not to be dramatic but-- if "combat triangle balancing" & frequent content updates will be the new norm going forward, I will not be playing after my annual membership runs out. I dont mean it in some angry "I'm leaving" way, but just to communicate that I rejoined RS for a reason -- and it seems that that is not the same reason the Twitter/Reddit types did, and the devs desir

There's a reason this game has seen constant growth for the last half decade. And I can promise you it is not by catering to post-endgame bored folks looking for new content. There's RS3 for that treadmill of new ideas and content; this is oldschool, for nostalgia and casual players as well as post-endgame. We have pets, kc, etc for them to enjoy--let's not cater the game's future to post-endgamers, if you want to see growth. If your goal is to keep the established, sure. But for growth, consider new players and midgamers more.
