Jagex, you should POLL EVERY ONE of these changes, before forcing them through. We (the subscribed players) pay to play this game that we all love for years. Why in earth would you want to force an update through, of which you know that there is very little support for in the first place. You said it yourself, that is the reason for not polling it. Why would you want to upset the player base that pays for your game? Just to bring some new Raids 3 into the game? With even more new OP BIS items that will be unreachable for 95% of the playerbase?

If you really want to ‘fix’ this game, go fix the real issues! The tons of bot farms, the inflation, duel arena gambling, real world trading, account security, gold farmers, etc. That is where the focus should be instead of introducing more endgame content that will be unreachable for most players. I understand that “New Raids 3 out” look better in an advertisement then “We fixed bot farms in our game”. But believe me, the majority of the player base would rather like to see these ‘real issues’ being fixed.

I really think that Jagex has done a good job in the past introducing and maintaining OSRS. It has brought back so many players (including myself), new content was polled to see if it would fit into this game and the community has always had their saying in the evolution of the game. All together it has led to the game we all love today, so please don’t make the mistake (again) by forcing through an update that YOU THINK is necessary. The player base makes this game, please listen to your customers before the game dies down like rs2! I would be really sad to see that happening again.

Furthermore I am very disappointed that the 2nd post says nothing about reviewing the item tier upgrades. Please keep in mind that this will have a MASSIVE impact on special build accounts, such as pures, zerkers and med levels (all with 75 att). There is a whole community of such accounts out there, who will be heavily affected by this “minor” change!

In my opinion upgrading item level requirements has very little to no effect on the average user. Because every normal player that is able to afford a Ghrazi Rapier or Scythe of Vitur has surpassed the level requirement. However, these special build accounts (including myself) will be disabled from using their melee weapons after having used them for several years. Keep in mind that it will be a major motivation loss to downgrade from a Rapier/Scythe to a dragon scimitar. This will make participating in high level pvm activities (COX, CM, TOB) almost impossible.

As an intermediate solution, please consider maintaining the 75 att requirement for high-tier weapons and add an additional strength level requirement on top of it. That way these high-tier items can still be distinguished, while having much less effect on all those special accounts that currently use them. I really hope this feedback will be taken in consideration.

Is this update related to the Jagex buyout that was just announced today?

The timing seems very suspect. As soon as Jagex ownership changes hands, the very first update will be an incredibly un-popular and un-polled change, supposedly to "make room for future Raids 3 item". Very concerning if this is the direction company is headed. Moving away from community ownership under new management will wreck the game.

I think the heart and spirit of this update comes from a good place, power creep is a real issue. Polling has also been a core element to the oldschool community. I recognize that nerf updates are not something that's popular, and people won't vote yes for generally. I feel though, this is going about it the wrong way. Pushing unpolled updates through, especially changing game mechanics that have existed for a while and have been loved by the community, will kill the game faster than any power creep would. I think... we should stop creating new weapons/armor, and preserve the game. Or, do DPS analysis on the items and make sure we aren't making more powerful items within tiers (make different items not better, also gives the game more diversity). I would also like to mention, there's so much other content that could be produced that would keep the community engaged with the game, and not let it dwindle off like classic did. Perhaps, by poll, nerf some of the existing endgame content if it's a bit much currently. I do like the idea of changing some existing weaponry that isn't and hasn't ever been practical, perhaps that would make a good poll. :)

tl;dr If anything, make more diverse weapons/items by poll.. not more powerful (do dps analysis).

Alright. Let's think.

When the blowpipe gets the 50% nerf along with the darts, then players will reconsider their options for a ranged weapon. Cannon will always follow, but for an in-slot weapon, the blowpipe will probably always bungle in comparison to the armadyl crossbow and dragon hunter crossbow. With people slowly coming to realize that the blowpipe has a significant reduction in damage in contrast to the superior one-handed weapons, they'll accept that the blowpipe will further not be a choice of weapon. This applies to any case whereby combat is initiated due to the importance of significantly higher damage. With the presence of a better weapon, comes the unfitting appearance of a weaker weapon. Therefore, the blowpipe, along with its high cost to maintain, should depreciate to a less commonly used weapon.

Just going to say that this behavior is the reason I lost interest playing RS3 after many years. Returning to OSRS has been wonderful but I will quit if this update is to pass without support from the player base. Arguing that this change "must" happen is the same reason EoC led to an exodus of active players in the first place. It is sad to see history repeating itself.

The blowpipe rebalance is ridiculous and will require changes to a variety of creatures. I for one have no desire to kill the grotesque guardians without the current blowpipe. I tried a few kills during Trailblazer without the BP and it was doable but not enjoyable. There will be a need for massive changes to the current PvM system if these changes are going to through.

I've relied on dragonhide equipment for many years particularly when doing clues in the wilderness and certain slayer monsters. I see no reason for this change other than to pander to a specific audience on Twitter. It is a staple of OSRS and should remain unchanged.

I'm going to wait to see where things are with the full response before I decide on if this game is worth playing any longer.

Been working on this concept for a redesign of Crystal Armour to try and find a niche for it. A way to make it a viable choice to arma in some situations, but not wholesale a better choice than arma in all situations.

The core of it is an ammo slot item that prevents crystal armour charges draining. This would allow the armour to be strong with ammoless ranged styles (such as obviously the Crystal Bow, blowpipe, darts, or knives), while still giving space for Arma/Void for any ranged style that uses ammo due to the upkeep cost.

Jagex, part of why I finally came back to Runescape after leaving with so many over the unwanted Evolution of Combat was Jagex's promise that the players would decide. Dragonhide has had roughly the exact same specifications since it was introduced years ago and it has never been a problem until its suddenly a threat to the very future of OSRS. There is little support for in the first place so you want to force it down our throats as was done with EOC? You said it yourself, the reason you are not polling it was because the majority of players don't want it. Besides, if you nerf dragonhide armor, would you logically be required to nerf chromatic dragons to melee by the same degree? After all the resistance of dragons to melee was all due to their hide.

If you really want to ‘fix’ this game, go fix the real issues! Find new ways to get rid of the bots that are destroying the economy, look into the in game inflation that looks to be totally artificial, address duel arena gambling, finds ways to plug the scams that are taking advantage of so many new players. These are the areas where our OS team should be focusing efforts instead of introducing more endgame content that will be unreachable for most players for years. Soul Wars was a terrific reintroduction! Bring in some new changes to the skilling system like reintroducing the urn making that was so popular in RS2. The Infernal and Fishing urns would be a similarly terrific reintroduction to the game and provide hard to get Crafting xp.
Reintroduce some of our old RS2 quests again, they could be tailored to OS without having to reintroduce skills such as Summoning. Our poor Fairy Queen has now been waiting 14 years to take back her throne, isn't it time for our devs to help her out?

I really think our OS team has done a good job in the past introducing and maintaining OSRS. It has brought back so many players (including myself), please don't go back to the ways that killed our beloved RS2.

Talking about the BP ( What else these days)

I understand the need to Nerf the Blowpipe and perhaps you are right to want this and perhaps it is needed.

Then i say do it but:
Make an item that you can get from another boss something like a scope or something and upgrade the nerfed blowpipe just like you can do with the trident.
To make a perfected blowpipe

This "new" blowpipe can be made for high lvl players only by making the minimum 85 defence and 90 range or something like that.

This way you still have a good weapon just with a bit more effort.

if u guys nerf it like planned im afraid it will become another useless item in the game one wich i fought zulrah a lot for to get.
Please dont let this game turn out like RS3 especially the EOC crap

I can agree with all of these integrity changes except the D bulwark change, you got it balanced out perfectly with the last nerf. Nerfing black dhide already places a huge disadvantage to those low risk wilderness pvmers in a black dhide/bulwark setup. There's really no reason to penalize players that are willing to risk more for a good tank when the wilderness is dominated by singles clans, tanky gear should honestly be buffed at this point imo.
