I read the poll blog and I have mixed feelings about the proposed ideas. I get it that the rewards might seem attractive to some players, but I don't really see the value of this looking at the bigger picture. It feels more like having achievements for achievements sake. Furthermore, there are already a lot of 'normal' achievements that are PvM related. If I want to do achievements I'll go and play RS3 ;) Nothing interesting happens

Hmm.

Let me ask this: Are we going to next have skilling achievements? In which I get awarded if I can 1-tick obtain resources or 1-tick process resources? And kill zalcano solo in under 30 minutes which is not realistically possible, unless I want to risk more potential carpal tunnel?

These achievements point to one BiS melee item that we would want to achieve long term, some exp lamps for prayer because I’m not in support of the exp lamps being for anything other than combat (this is primarily combat-based anyway, unlike achievement diaries which makes you do some of everything), and repetitive killing of bosses that already record your time and you can already “show” to other players.

I don’t boss to complete a diary to get one off-hand BiS melee item. I boss to get the pet, fashionscape, and very difficult to get unique item drops that are often BiS in some class of their own.

I do not think these combat achievements are necessary because I am already risking carpal tunnel trying to get pets. They’re actually cute and something I would show off to even my coworkers that don’t play runescape. (they tell me they don’t play runescape because it’s ugly or it’s too hardcore...I think this diary might polarize new players more than you think at the moment, since you’re listening to seasoned veterans who don’t have much to do in a pandemic while developing this).

I think these tasks are better suited for leagues, where we are already restricted but can make up for it with unique relics that boost our accounts. And if you really want to add more spice/entertain your veterans, do more leagues or do smaller tournament competitions like king of the hill and record those times/achievements somewhere for them.

Of the content listed, I am okay just adding a 6-jad challenge and unlocking the transformation (without this combat achievement). The pet is very cute and it’s a challenge that I think is fine in main game as high end.

That’s my two-cents, anyway.

How would you feel about making this a more 'dynamic' task list rather than another 'achievement diary'? Instead of having a set number of 50 tasks in each tier, why not have the option of 'rolling' a task (i.e. you roll the die on which monster and the specific category of task) for a given tier the player selects.

This would introduce more variety and it could still be possible to roll additional tasks beyond 50 for people wanting to challenge themselves. The number of tasks to complete for the rewards remains the same.

Players could also roll/start as many tasks as they want (subject to the game engine of course), but there may be a limit or penalty for canceling tasks.

I agree with some of the others that this diary system seems like it belongs in another league. For the players who have already completed hundreds to thousands of kills on each boss, it might feel repetitive to go back through each boss to complete the diary.

If a new BIS offhand weapon were implemented, I would like to see a stat tradeoff included. For example, a negative prayer bonus or protection prayers reduced to 50% effectiveness might make the weapon useful in specific contexts without making it too powerful.

I like the idea, but I think there are too many flaws with the current proposal. Slayer already is a huge emphasis in the game and this makes slayer even more important as a skill. While I know a lot of people really enjoy the skills, I personally abhor it. MM2 is the LAST quest I have before the quest point cape, yet it is a requirement for the medium tier? This seems very poorly structured. To me this will be dead content upon arrival due to slayer requirements, when you don't even need slayer for most bosses. The fact that you get no reward for individual tasks is the problem I have with slayer requirements. I have zero motivation to do ANY tasks, because I get nothing valuable unless I get 95 slayer+. There is already enough content locked with slayer requirements, no need to keep adding to that while half the other skills are virtually worthless. Strongly opposed to another melee offhand - we already have the defenders and if this is better, nobody will go to warriors guild anymore, which means this creates more dead content within the game. This needs to be thought about better and properly balanced within the game that already exists. GWD private instances are a great idea, but I don't see why they have to be tied to this poorly thought about update. Definitely will be voting no on this unless it can get properly balanced before polling is released.

Disclaimer grammar/spelling is poor.

As much as i like a Combat achievement diary idea, i think the way its gone about is all wrong.
--it feels very much league inspired... with the additional Master/grandmaster teir and kill X in Y time, or kill X over 500 times.... & increased drop rate chance on clues (although fally/wildy? has this aswell but only in those areas!)

which, i get the hype, currently playing leagues now, but lets keep leagues...you know... to leagues! otherwise the hype and rush of leagues will result in people asking the question "why bother playing leagues?".

As for the rewards, i get power creep helps drive new content, but you need to look at the big picture - regarding the Offender (yes i do like that name, props to the suggestor) & other rate increasers.

Economy - something very power becomes almost free (post completion)
PVM & Economy - Everything gets a bit easier/more common, other items crash.
PVP - something very power becomes almost free (post completion) - YEY! no risk!
PVP - something very power is locked behind content players dont do - "if i cant get the best stuff to fight with, why bother fighting"
Playstyle (although this relates to more general aspects re powercreep) - if you do small power creep, yes you prolong the life, but more casual players will end up thinking - why bother buying this lv82 item for 1b, when i can wait 6 months (maybe skill and get some 99z) and buy the lv85 gear for the same price!

another argument which defiantly relates to lockdown-era, yes we've all had more time to play the game we like, but if (BIG IF) everything returns to normal, more casual players might not be able to learn the insane prayflick-wooxwalking-sleeping wombo-combo that the top 0.1% of players can do. (yes insert salt here, i cant do them ^).
I think getting the difficulty right is the big question
I.e 6 jads @ once - its safe, theres no 1 grind beforehand to get 1 attempt, maybe for the transmog

These updates look exciting but as a 1 def pure with plenty of pvm achievements and 2k total this is very disheartening. Before the "you chose to limit yourself" comments. Yes! I did I have a much more challenging time pvming and doing those things on a limited account, so do plenty of others whether it's a pure, zerk, med whatever why completely exclude us from this over a simple defence requirment. I have thousands of kc spread across many bosses and this is something that would apeal to me and a lot of us pvpers who feel like jagex is out of touch with us. I mean how many of us are sitting with a useless Vls in the bank right now as just one example. Come on Jagex Please make this where pures can participate its like playing the game on hard mode but they turn achievements off??!?!?

Jagex this guy took the words out of my mouth
