I want to address the GWD instances proposed changes.
Instead of giving everyone an instance why not just separate the GWD between irons and normies? Like the corp cave. So when you enter the GWD, depending on your account type, you'll either only see irons or normies. None of that 'pay to get instance' stuff. I think that this way the GWD will retain it's old school feel and also eliminate unwanted and unfair competition between the two account types. Therefore normies can fight each other for worlds just as they can now, meaning nothing will change for them and if irons fight each other no one will get a drop. Super simple.
And as a money sink just implement the same system that Zulrah has. Give learners time to actually learn and not get bankrupt immediately. And after 30, 50 etc kills just put a standard fee for deaths, which can be 150k or even 200k and honestly I wouldn't mind.
Honestly, I don't know why this hasn't been proposed or is thought of as detrimental to the economy. We irons don't farm the GWD to make hard cash for our normie accounts, we just wanna be done with it mostly and MAYBE go for pet in the future.
Just my two cents. Or is that hurting the economy already?
General
Whilst PvM achievements have been discussed for a while and this builds on that idea, I feel that this devlog is another that loses a lot of potential from it's base idea, favouring discussing rewards over the actual content.
Tasks
First of all using a task system to provide a lot of challenges is a great idea but I dislike the scale this is done. For example adding a kill count task such as Kill 100 moles, feels very artificial especially when you consider there will be speed tasks, specific item tasks, restricted item tasks, etc. Am I going to kill 100 whilst doing the other tasks or is it a genuine challenge?
Rewards
XP lamps
make sense for achievement diaries but I see this as a combat challenge set. It would be more fitting for these lamps to give only give combat XP.
Increase
clue scroll rates
makes sense but, once again, it would be more fitting to only happen for pvm drops. Let skilling drops have their own challenges later on.
Like a boss
upgrade is pretty cool, although you might want to consider making it togglable/optional since sometimes people want to go through their tasks quickly.
I'm a concerned about the new
offhand item
, how does it stack up against existing items?

Finally we have signatures in the surprise forum update. I'm Lewis, I play Old School & I've been playing since 2005.
GWD teleport
is a good idea, although I'm assuming players won't have killed GWD bosses in the easy tier. Players should have at least killed the bosses once before unlocking this.
GWD instances
is a hot topic right now and I've made great use on them on leagues. Personally I do not think GWD should have instances in the main game however it is clearly an issue for ironmen. I would support adding an ironman only chamber.
Deaths coffer
for instances is just bizarre! Is this just so players don't have to use an extra inventory space? Surely that's part of the compromise for instances!
Can you expand on the
jad challenge
? Is is just instance access to 6 jads or do you work up to that? Is it accessible instantly after fight caves?

This is a very combat focused blog
(obviously)
- so can we have a skilling focused one, next? Skilling challenges, maybe?
I'd also like to see more skilling bosses in the future.. Especially ones that are accessible to level 3 skillers and skillers without high combat levels in general.
RSC - Gone, but never forgotten.
No support. We already have achievement diaries - which cover a broad amount of content fairly evenly.
Once again, Jagex is pushing slayer and PvM above all other aspects of the game. You'll be pushing arbitrary and absurd challenges over content that could be introduced elsewhere, such as quests or additions to noncombat skills.
Content like this is going to encourage more account sharing, as it caters to only the most elite of pvmers. People are going to still want the rewards. People aren't going to put in the time, and we'll see a surge of people RWTing to have someone complete it on their account, just like what happened with inferno.
And for everyone else? They're left with powercreep, a half finished achievement log, a few throwaway xp lamps, and maybe a new reason to get killed in the wildy GWD, because heaven forbid we have an update that doesn't keep luring people to the wildy.
EoC didn't happen with the introduction of the shit-tier ability system. It happened by putting combat as a priority over every other aspect of the game.
I doubt I'll be resubscribing with the current trajectory of the game. The rest of you can enjoy your slayerscape.
1) This opens up the possibility of wildy clans camping wildy bosses where you'd have to pay to be left alone by them. I don't know who thought including wildy into this is a good idea.
2) The rewards seem forced and to a large extent, not worth the time or effort. Why should mole kc help me with gwd? The rewards should've been tied to bosses specifically.
Im also very against this idea going Live. I think its sounds alot like the Boss Slayer idea which was pitched a few months ago. Werent some of the Tele Rewards almost the same? Also Instancing GWD i think is a really bad idea too. I know it can get really busy there, and with alot of crashes but i think if its Instanced we could see a big market crash.
Also as OP said, EOC started by putting combat first and i just feel like we could be heading that way again if these ideas pass the polls. This is xoming from a player whom loves Slayer, but also loves OSRS.
How about adding some small Strength (+2 to +5) and Defense (+5 to +15) bonuses, or slightly more accuracy bonuses (+45 to +55), to the offhand defender, to make it worth using? Compared to the Avernic defender, this new defender is useless, with the currently suggested bonuses.
This sounds like a trailblazer "grindy" idea and does not belong in the main game. If anything; it should be incorporated into the Slayer skill. but to add combat diaries is simply whack and going a trend in the wrong direction. KEEP LEAGUE IDEAS OUT OF THE MAIN GAME!
Make no combat req for this diarys, make it like : you need 300 total combat overal for that diary, so 1def pures, zerkers, and meds 70/75def can do new content. 75def accounts can make all quest and diarys wear anything so make new things for all players
