In all seriousness though. I do understand your point behind waiting to release rewards. In fact it's probably the best idea since most morons will vote no if they see any form of benefit coming from PKing. However, the issue at hand is how you release the base mechanics of it. The entire argument that people are pushing right now is that we need it to be how it was in 2010. You walk into the wilderness and if you're risking over 76,000GP in alch valued gear, then your EP percentage would start to increase 25% every 30 minutes. The higher your EP, the higher chance you had at having a good drop. At 100% EP, you got a target which gave even more loot due to it being your target.
This simple mechanic did have it's pros and cons, however way more pros than cons in terms of
Wilderness activity
. Wilderness activity is by far the most important aspect of this game whether you want to admit that or not. Without it, the game dies. This game doesn't have killer PvM content or boostable skilling to appeal to every one else, it has PKing. The sole reason this server was created so it'd revive what we lost to EoC.
That is what you need to focus on. Will the economy be effected if statuettes are implemented? Yes. Will the wilderness' population double? Yes. Which is more important? Prayer potions going from 16k each to 7k each, or seeing 30-40,000 people online once people return to the game knowing they can profit from PKing or even skilling if they're using their brawlers?
You underestimate how many people would actually come back or start to PK/go into the wilderness with this update. That's something you can't do.
As for the rewards, like you said it's going to be a challenge to get them accepted in. So for now, at least do the base mechanic like we used to have it and spend less time brainstorming a fix when it was obviously so successful in 2010. Don't fix what wasn't broken.
