I think they should be introduced exactly as they were before. They basically are the end game of 07 RS since all other PvM content and loot is easy/not very expensive at the end of the day it gives people something to do. Especially in light of the fact that many skills are incomplete in this version and there is zero incentive to actually max them out other than highscores ranking.

7. Give one of each rare item to every old school player
4. Have an NPC shop you can buy rare items from for a small amount of GP

THESE YES OMG.... YES... Why do you guys want to make it hard to get....

you should add a vote to wither or not they are going to be discontinued or simply be a rare drop for as long as the game last. frankly my dear, I couldn't give a dam. never had a river to build one on.

The same mistakes are about to be made AGAIN .

Bringing rares into the game encourages players without the massive amount of money to buy them or accumulate every single one to BOT or buy gold from goldfarmers.
Rares also contribute to the ego driven aspect, You see some player with puny stats and he/she has a rare and THAT is seen as an accomplishment by many..When the real and true accomplishment in this game should be the accumulation of stats.

Rares also make the newer players feel they will never attain the wherewithal to obtain a rare.
If they absolutely must be released and I feel the majority will want them back.

Then they should only be released via Treasure Trails.

If they are released via monster killing or skill leveling then some will just continue to bot monsters or the certain skills. If done by Treasure Trails at least that makes the person behind the bot have to interact with the game at some point.

How is the mistake being made? The decision is on us not Jagex lol

I think the fairest most honest way to give out rares, which i think is a brilliant idea to begin with, is to distribute them using similar mechanics as we did before (dropping them, holiday events). All the other ways seem unfair and will make players unhappy. This way, it is just luck if you get a rare, which will make it a lot more exciting and cause a lot more people to start playing!

You're forgetting one issue: How will disks, half wines, and warships be added? All the other rare items can be added the same way as they were in 2001-2006, but these three items are not holiday items.

My suggestion is to make all three available as the non-partyhat item in Christmas crackers. Each cracker will always include a partyhat, but sometimes instead of a rune item or coins or whatever, it will include a disk (tradable), half wine (tradable), or warship (not tradable). However, maybe it's best to only do this for disks and half wines, since warships are not tradable, and this would require anyone who wants a warship to crack a lot of crackers. In that case, maybe warships could spawn in Glough's house for just one day. Announce it in advance so everyone knows and make it on a special date, such as the anniversary of RSC, or on a holiday, or something like that. This could be determined in a third poll after the first two close.

1. no
2. no
3. no

we have to let the rares come in the natural way, for example, make the chicken suit tradeable, remember, partyhats didn't become rares overnight. it took years to let them accumulate the rarity that people will pay 2b for the most expensive ones. you can't just say: we want rares, and we want them now!

and then the 2007 runescape halloween event will be repeated and we will get the grim reaper hood and so on. also, just an idea, how about counting down through the years of holidays? for example, next easter it would be the 2006 easter event, then 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001 and we will get partyhats and the others in good time, this is not an exact copy of 2007, so we should not make rares just appear. also, how many people actually played in 2001? one of the main reasons partyhats are so rare is that only about 250k people were playing and only about 100k people got them. then some were banned over the years, some quit, some died with them and couldn't reclaim them in time, so that only about 50k partyhats are still in game. so, bottom line, NO RARES! the chicken suit will become a rare in good time.
