I'm all for bringing in rares, but some of the ideas I have read are ridiculous.

No to clue scrolls.
No to purchase from a shop.
No to handing them out to people in top highscore.
No to making them untradable and giving everyone a set.

In my opinion, I think it would be fair so that everyone gets a chance, that they're introduced via Random Events as a rare chance reward. Like how you complete the Maze and you have a table of possible items, for a limited time they could be added into the table of all the events.

Not so everytime you get the random you get the item, but rare enough so it's considered a rare as it should be.

Level 1 clues - pickpocket HAM, no combat required.

I agree completely with this comment IF the rarity of a rare via a level 1 clue scroll was to be the same as a level 2 or level 3 clue scroll. The only problem with this of course is that the level 1 clue scrolls are able to be easily obtained and finished within very short time intervals in comparison to level three clue scrolls, and therefore could be camped.

Then again, if these rares were to be as rare as third age if not rarer, then it's not like people would camp clue scrolls for days on end (especially since there's still a chance that they won't receive one from a clue scroll at all in their RS life time).

Inputting more, I like the idea that someone suggested that consisted of making the type of rare you receive from a clue scroll purely seasonal (i.e. Easter eggs ONLY the week of Easter every year and no other rare until Halloween comes on by and there's pumpkins, etc).

It seems people are not understanding the basic mechanics of the game.

1. The word 'fair' seems to be the main issue here. Suggesting that they be dropped at random community events, or just placed around the world as some sort of scavenger hunt, is 'not' fair. People would be affected be different time zones, work, and school. It would be totally unfair to the people that are not able to make it during these times. Therefore, I totally rule out any option that involves specific times.

2. A lot of people are also suggesting that every single person just gets the items, and we go from there, or, they can be purchased from a shop. Now, a lot of people will want this, because, quite frankly, they are greedy. Truth is, this is not a good way for 'rares' to enter the game. If they were to go about it this way, they are not considered rare at all, which takes away the whole meaning. And for the people saying that this is the way they were introduced into the game the first time around, that is a completely invalid argument. They were introduced over several years, and not all at once, which is what made them rare.

3. To the people saying that they shouldn't be introduced at all, please don't speak. They are a vital part of the game. The money has to go somewhere when you're maxed out, and rares are something to strive for.

The only fair way for these items to enter the game, in my opinion, is to have them given out as super rare monster drops, or randomly from skilling. There are a few reasons why these two options are the best way to go. For one, it gives every player a chance to obtain them, no matter what their schedule is, whenever they are playing, there's a chance. Secondly, it'll encourage people to play more often, which is always a plus. Lastly, it'll be extremely fun. It could go on for months, even years, before all of the rares are depleted.

Everyone is talking about fairness it's ridiculous. Drops from skilling and monster drops..?
It makes it that much more easy for people to camp them, like the people that already have 99s. That is such a ridiculous statement which would clearly only benefit higher leveled people. quit talking about fairness now. It makes more sense to have them out in a shop for a period of time, bringing a mass abundant of them and slowly letting them die out and become rares. Say a few gold making it possible for a new level 3 to buy them? I mean.. we are paying for the game aren't we?

Mod Mat K,

You said you want any suggestion about rare items in 2007 Runescape, I would like to see them in.
I want to go on question 3 about how they should return in-game; all tradeable rares should be pick limited by the staff and giving out to 1/4 of the amount of players who voted for old school runescape and should be choosing by the staff who deserve the right of a tradeable rare so only one hundred thousand rares are split out in-game. All non-tradeable rares should return by holiday events for all players to retrieve them only once.

Personally I think the best way to hand the rares out would be through random events, have a set number of each rare so they still maintain their "rare" status. It gives everyone a fair shot at getting the rares. Should add this to the vote.
