first off:

Finally, Mod Philip has been looking at the PID issue that many PvPers have been facing. The PID issue arises when players make the same action in the same game cycle (for example hitting each other over the heads with a blunt instrument) and the game has to decide who makes the action first. Players were able to predict who'd get priority, and even try to manipulate it in their favour to get themselves an advantage. Mod Philip's engine change is being tested now, and we hope to be able to launch it next week so that this is no longer an issue.

My GWD ideas:

Make aviansie addy bars drop unnoted, to avoid having that botfest back, it ruined getting killcount, devalued addy bolts

Have Sara boss drop a toned down staff of light ( also boost masterwand so it will still be usefull, but different )

Let spiritual warriors drop Broad swords, and spiritual rangers drop Broad Bolts, a good way to reintroduce the items if you can't make smoking kills quest, and makes those 2 tasks seem a little less pointless

Let lightsources work at zamorak's fortress ( not sure if it did )

Be sure to disable dwarf cannon in the dungeon from the beginning

Reduce bandos chestplate's strenght bonus to +2 instead of +4, that way it wont destroy fighters torso

Maybe make armadyl godsword 60% spec, or turn it into a crossbow or something

Perhaps bonus 'fun' rewards can be added, in the beginning of oldschool runescape you spoke of recolored existing items

If you can't make a lootshare system without grand exchange, atleast send us text in the chatbox which person got which drop in the boss chambers ( could do for KQ/DKS aswell )

Also: best 4 jmods of all time?

Say something like a new staff etc passed, would that significantly lengthen development time? (I'm guessing the new item would need to be made from scratch)

Depends what it needs to do.

A magic staff can be made in minutes if it's just an exact copy of a basic magic staff but with different stats. A staff with special abilities would take longer because we'd have to code those abilities. The polypore staff took me a very long time because it worked completely differently to every other staff that existed at that point.

I'm not actually expecting that there'd be 75% support for a new staff, btw. Might be preferable to take GWD without extras at first, and then request further updates once you've had more time to get accustomed to it.

Im not sure how it works, but maybe a ( smaller ) version of the staff of light could fit on osrs, ofcourse i dont know if you can simply convert items from rs3 or not

edit: now that i think about it, modifiying the zamorak boss's drop the Steam Staff could already do wonders on its own, ( also nobody really did zamorak boss in the day, this could change that )

Hope im not bulldozing with questions but:

Could runetek5 be a possibility in the future?

Could the anti-pj measure that used to be in PvP worlds return in the future so that single combat area fights can't be interrupted by the newly released godswords?

I'm probably getting into conjecture here but it seems like we're going to (if it passes) get a unmodified GWD implemented into the game first. Then vote on any serious changes (like new drops) after implementation.

I can see the merits of going down this route, the only issue maybe that it would become more difficult to remove say the relatively unpopular zammy godsword and replace it with a new drop.

75% support for range/mage gear is at least feasible, if unlikely.

Can't copy models from RS3 to OSRS. The formats don't match. The big texture update of 2008 involved redefining the model format.

I'd suggest you make sure you've got your GWD suggestions in the GWD sticky thread, since we're not going to be trawling this one looking for ideas.

Are you guys going to modify Nightmare Zone with your tools? Like remove the cow that you couldn't remove earlier? :D

...Or is it part of the thing now :P

We've smoothed out the ground around the lobby enclosure, so it looks a lot neater, but we've left the cow for sentimental reasons.

I'm not expecting we'll get the resources for a major game engine overhaul. We've got dev tools and - nearly - PID, but we're still waiting on that routefinding update from Poll 2. If they're having trouble getting that job into the schedule, it's not likely to be worth asking for runetek5!

We mentioned the PJ issue in a blog a couple of weeks back about PvP worlds. At the time, we thought we could offer it as an update by itself, independently of PvP worlds, which might cover what you're asking about.
