Strongly opposed to the idea of an 'entry' mode for Theatre of Blood.
Let's consider the player-base. Yes, there's new/newer players - and we're grateful for them. They're important for the longevity of the game. But this game is built on a foundation of veteran players; if we make design changes so that every piece of content is palatable for noobs, then we're disenfranchising our core players. Why does
all
content have to be available to all players? Is two pieces of content (Inferno and Theatre of Blood), amongst a vast sea of content that's accessible, too much to ask? Obviously not all content should cater specifically to the late-game players. To the contrary, early- and mid-game content is great... look at how well the Grotesque Guardians was initially received (time/drop table issues aside). Yet, why can we not have
a couple
of pieces of real end-game content? Especially in the context of a goal-driven and achievement-based game, can this not represent a long-term goal to strive towards?
And that's not to say that newer players can't progress - ToB is not insurmountable. There are videos and streams to learn from.
IF
the team is adamant on adding an entry mode, which I hope you're not, then please do not provide any chance of unique loot or pet. If it's an 'entry' mode, then let it be nothing more than an introduction. To give a chance of loot is to make a mockery of the full ToB.
I appreciate the position you guys are in, and I trust that whatever the outcome is, your judgement will be fair and reasonable.
