HI

many people are complaining about this not been free to play and the annoying key getting, this could easily be remedied as undoubtedly your next mid level boss will be ice giant or fire giant.

So in preparation for this, simply make the key dropped by all giants (hill,fire,ice,moss) on tasks and use the same key to get in to any of the giant bosses.

Meaning that low levels killing hill giants can get in to any of the bosses without having to spam for lame tasks.

Mid levels will get more keys without having to spam vanakka for moss giant tasks as they reach nieve far too fast to get more than 2 or 3 keys.

Mid - High levels will be able to kill this boss for fun also due to huge fire giant tasks set by nieve.

This will result in the boss been killed by all players and not become dead content which it will definitely be if only moss giants drop the key.

The idea and artwork look great, but there are three big ways to improve this proposal:

1. This would be a great F2P boss like Obor.

2. Locking the monster behind slayer seems like a bizarre requirement, particularly when Duradel, Nieve and Chaedler do not assign Moss Giant tasks. Only players who receive tasks from Vanakka would have the opportunity to kill it and they tend to be very combat low levels who would struggle to kill a boss monster.

3. The idea of a staff saving nature runes is a very slippery slope and undermines the skilling community. The staff could be released without the rune saving option or alternative ideas could be polled if the staff is not considered attractive enough without this feature. The best in slot F2P magic gear are Wizard/Zamorak robes so some new robes could be introduced to help F2P magers compete with Rune armour (melee) or green dragon hide (Range). Also, considering introducing Teleblock in F2P servers has failed in the polls so many times then perhaps a special mace that prevents people from teleporting for up to two minutes could be added instead so the Pkers would be forced to risk something beyond a handful of runes. Drops in P2P worlds could include Granite arrows, knives, darts, axes or pickaxes.

BORING rewards.

Better rewards:

new F2P magic weapon/armor, tome of earth, staff with an offensive special attack - if you wanted to release something related to magic

F2P staff:

Increases damage with earth spells by 30%, increases Bind duration to 10 seconds.

I agree with a lot of the posts I've seen here. I feel that it should be possible to receive the keys while not on slayer task, in addition to this boss being available to f2p players. I could even see the staff being kept at +15 magic as to be the most accurate staff for f2p casting, especially seeing as it would not provide runes for any of the offensive spells like the blast spells.

Yes and I think it might be another point why F2P slayer shiuld be introduced to get more people into RuneScape (especially after Mobile).
- Can the Slayer task requirement to get a kill be removed
In my opinion it should be removed, but drop rates of the staff could potentially be worse off-task.
- Stats needed for the staff
The staff will have a decent value as it fills 2 niches at once.
1. Cheaper high alching.
2. New training weap for obby maulers.
As for the stats I think they are good (for the reason above), but have a few suggestions for adding a requirement:
- a slayer requirement of 60-70 as it is an improved slayer’s staff for these builds;
- a magic requirement of 70 so you need 5-10 attack along with 99 str to be melee based, reserving slayer’s staff as BIS for 1 attack pures, and giving 5-20 attack obbies an improved alternative;
- a combination of the above.
As I’ve had a couple of these builds in the past I know there is quite a big obby comminity so I’d love an update like this happening.

I had a couple of ideas for the name of the staff, if it gets implemented...

* Bryophyta's Branch -- fits in with the nature-y theme.
* Bryophyta's Backscratcher -- Silly but fitting for a giant in my opinion.
