Dear Mark Gerhard, Mod Mark "Markdonalds", and the Old School Runescape development team,

I have come here to let you know that I want you to take your bonds, squeal of fortune, solomon's store, and every other micro-transaction plans you have for Old School Runescape and shove them so far up your arse that you wish they never existed.

Thank you,
Dr Zach

^+1 to the man with balls of runite.

I'm going to have to vote no for bonds if they are polled, but in response to the people who seem to think that this thread somehow indicates plans to bring in SOF or Solomon's store, you're not too bright.

Bonds are not extra experience, they're a way for one player to pay for another player's membership scam free in exchange for gold. It doesn't give free experience, it doesn't bring new items into the game, it doesn't bring more gold in the game, it only makes one player richer by way of real life money. That's the one reason why I don't want them in the game, however.

Is there a way you could make it so OSRS players could purchase bonds through a bank that would be connected to the EOC severs ?

So you would only be buying the bonds off EOC players.

This is coming from someone that doesn't play OSRS much, But I think the OSRS community is awesome :)

Good luck either way!

We were told no microtransactions. If they'll break that promise, what keeps them from implementing this other trash into the game?

Further more, something you can buy for IRL money and then sell for GP to buy items to train and get exp does equate to extra experience.

Luckily, this will never pass a poll.

Unfortunately not (at least that's the official response):

Is there a viable way to introduce bonds into old school without letting people buy OSRS gold with them?

Sadly not, that is the pay off for them and something that you guys need to decide if you are comfortable with.

Well the idea that I always had in my head was that you set an exchange rate and allow people to swap their OSRS gold for RS3 gold but not the other way around. That would allow people to buy bonds with OSRS gold but obviously comes with a few issues like:
• Introduces a ton of gold to RS3 which already has problems with too much gold
• You have to actually decide on and from time to time adjust that exchange rate.
• Would probably require some engine work.

But on the plus side it would create a ton of extra demand for bonds while creating a gold sink for OSRS.

That is the first path we went down, but the technical issues of getting the two games to talk to each other in the right way and huge risk to both economies of moving the gold made that idea nonviable.

You can implement Bonds - BUT ONLY IF YOU CAN NOT TRADE THEM IN FOR GOLD!
That takes away the whole purpose. 99 Prayer, 99 Herblore, 99 Construction, 99 Smithing, 99 Magic, 99 Ranged, 99 Farming, will be the most popular capes.

DEEPLY DISSAPOINTED to see so many players not caring old school.

Ppl who r against bond is saying just make the game free for us. U think membership is enough to sustain oldschool? Then get ready to see it shelved like classic later on.

Fools have no concept about finance and investment, why not go hug a tree because commercialisation and industrialisation is bad. A mere what 10-15$ a month? U joking right thats not even enough to pay for wages. Seems like u guys prefer a low quality game full of bugs and botting. Money solves problem, time to grow up and mot ask ur parents to pay for u.

Bonds would not only bring old school to a higher quality of content and services, it would meant the proven commercialisation of it, thus it would thrived.

Why do u fools think eoc is a huge success? Because the rwt jag offer brings a lot of resources into it

RS3 doesn't look like a huge success.

In the first half of 2011, population dropped a lot, and is quite low now compared pre microtransactions. I can't say SoF and Solomon's are fully to blame. I wasn't playing, so I don't know, but a LOT of people left.

For every 1 person that leaves over bonds, remember, jagex would need 4 to buy membership though bonds exclusively. If 5% of us left over bonds, 21% of those left would have to use bonds as their form of membership JUST to BREAK EVEN.

How does that make financial sense? Only by removing bonds in some way other than memberships. Other microtransactions, which, of course, would push more people away.
