We're well aware of the issues that this community will have with bonds, which is why we mention that if you want the good side, you need to be prepared to accept that at some point someone will have to buy the bond for real money and sell it for gold.

I have an idea for you guys. So that this game isn't tied to how much real life cash you're prepared to spend on the game, have you considered banning all gp transfer between the two games?

Surely if people want to cheat by buying in game gold they can play Runescape 3 (don't tell me it's better because it's between two players and one must give up their in game gold, that doesn't make it any better).

This sort of reason is a big one of why people are playing Oldschool and not RS3. You guys are openly admitting you know people can buy bonds on RS3 and transfer the gold to Oldschool, yet you do nothing about it. You can buy OSRS gp for in real cash and you allow it. I see a big problem here. If you allow this, I wonder what else you will allow.

My advice: Let RS3 be the game where you can buy your way to success, keep OSRS a game with integrity and ban all gold transfering activities between the two games. After hearing that you guys allow this I am considering ending my subcription, I am sure others are too. I play OSRS because I believe(d) it was a game with integrity.

That is the first path we went down, but the technical issues of getting the two games to talk to each other in the right way and huge risk to both economies of moving the gold made that idea nonviable.
Yea, I thought as much.

I'd really prefer if it wasn't possible to buy OSRS gold with cash, but given how people are doing it with gold swapping right now anyway I'd probably be willing to accept bonds in OSRS.

I support bringing bonds to Old School ONLY if you can only buy membership with them, and of course the Runefest stuff.

DO NOT make it where you can buy Old School bonds with RL cash, and DO NOT make Old School bonds redeemable for Old School gp.

Make it so when you click " redeem bond " on Old School, your only options are the Runefest stuff, and Membership. That's it.


Only thing is you would have to have a set exchange value for them, like maybe 1m gp = 1 Bond. You could just have a NPC in Varrock or Lumbridge sell them, nothing fancy.

EDIT: And also maybe have a limit on how many bonds you can buy a day/week.
With the name change update, I could see people that support bonds also wanting a redeem for name-change on old school.

You do realize we can already change our names as any change we make of our name in RS3 carries over to oldschool? That would make a free service cost money....

With the new update in RS3 you can wave the 28 day waiting period to change your name if you use a bond.

Support. I could care less if some idiot uses money to buy full third age. In most cases, they are dumb enough to lose it somehow, anyway. When I see people like this, I don't get upset that they used IRL cash to buy their items. I know that I worked hard to get my own stats/items and that's all that matters to me.

No support. Bonds are something that should stay in RS3. Implement any type of micto-transactions into OSRS and I, and many others will quit.

This is a second chance for us. A chance to start over and get RuneScape right this time. Stay true to the roots, not the Squeal of Solomans crap that is forced down your throat every time you log into RS3.
