New Minigame: Rat Hunt

Description: Felkrash has specialised in training cats. To offer enough of a challenge to the strongest cats of Port Sarim, she has to order 'special rats', brought to Port Sarim by charter ships from far away outside Gielinor. However, every once in a while some extraordinary fast and strong ones manage to escape. Will you help her to catch these rodents before their population starts to grow and they begin to cause problems in Gielinor? Don't forget to take your cat with you, otherwise you will not have a chance!

Requirements:

Ratcatchers quest completed
Must have a wily cat
Must have the catspeak amulet (e) equipped
A week must have passed since you last completed the minigame

Start point: Talk to Felkrash in the Port Sarim rat pits.

Spoiler alert: The following will contain details of the minigame

Felkrash tells you that she has no idea where to look for the rats; they are so fast that they could already have spread anywhere in Gielinor. You are on your own, but obviously common knowledge works here - don't look in the deserts or snowed areas. Felkrash will, however, give your cat the scent of the special rats, so it will be able to sniff for them.

Where the rats are :

There are 5 different rats to catch. Each of them has a separate spawn point, but after they have spawned (at system update), they can (slowly) roam anywhere from the spawn point. Spawn points are chosen randomly from the list with 25 spawn points.

Spawn point list:

Rimmington mine
Draynor crossroads
Digsite
West Ardougne
(there are total of 25 spawn points, but at this point I'm not going to spoil all of them)

Some of these spawn points have quest requirements, but don't worry, you will be rewarded even if you miss some rats.

How to find the rats:

Your cat will be able to sniff for the rats. It will tell you how far you are from the closest rat, and whether you are closer to it than when you last sniffed.

More than 200 steps away: "I think we'd better look elsewhere."
100-199 steps: "I can smell something, but we aren't still close to it."
50-99 steps: "I think there is a rodent somewhere close."
25-49: "We are close! Let's keep looking!"
5-24: "I can smell it! Go!"
0-5: "Let me at it!"

In addition, your cat will tell you either "We are getting closer." or "We are getting farther.", depending on your current and previous distance from the rat. Remember that the rats can move also, this will affect the message your cat tells.

When you are close it it, you can just normally 'Interact with cat' and 'chase vermin', and your cat will attempt to catch it. This may take a couple of tries.

OPTIONAL: To speed the search, find Bob, the Jagex cat, with your enchanted catspeak amulet. We will tell you the spawn points.

Rewards:

5 * 1,000 Slayer experience (1,000 for each rat caught; if you skip some, you'll get less)
5 * rat claws (if the community wants)

OPTIONAL: If you talked to Bob and return to him after catching all 5 rats, he will reward you with a clue scroll (level 3).

Rat claws: This reward will be polled separately if the minigame is released. Each rat will drop rat claws. These can be crushed to 'rat claw bits' with pestle and mortar. Each claw will generate X - Y 'rat claw bits' (x and y will be decided by the community - if rat claws passes the poll). These 'rat claw bits' could be used as a herblore secondary (they will be tradeable) in new potions. New potions could be super antifires, for example - this will be decided by the community, too.

OPTIONAL: If you have the cat training medal, you can talk to Kardia (in Underground Pass) to have it enchanted. With this enchanted cat training medal in inventory you will produce 1.5 times as much 'rat claw bits' while crushing rat claws.

They said submit your ideas by email or by posting on this thread, even though invasion is on the blog and linked in the OP i'll leave a post here, stay tuned.

After taking some feed back on the first Invasion idea it was clear to me that i catered to much to skillers and low levels. though i wanted to make an old school minigame (one where you play just for fun and take it seriously) I'll revise the idea to make it better.

What is Invasion? it's a survival minigame in which you fight wave after wave of any attackable npc inside a defined area (like Falador or Varrock) other examples of this type of minigame would be Halo's firefight, COD's Zombies, UT:Invasion, and GoW:Horde.

So, the Old School version, take any city in it's entirety, add barriers so players can't leave the city limits, create a safe room for players to spawn in, and have all the attackable npc's in OS to hunt down the players.

To start the minigame there would be an NPC in Falador pub named CR0W, when you speak to CR0W he will give a short story of a trip he took to scaperune when bob the cat took him there in which everybody in there tried killing him and several other people, the cat kidnapped. and asks the player if he would like to ''imagine'' what it was like. NOTE: minigame is unlocked after a quest that involves king snagwort striking back ''Snagwort strikes Back'' the quest can be developed by the OSRS staff, must take place in tutorial island. Quest is started when the player says yes.

if the player says ''yes'' the player will be asked to choose, if they would like to play solo or as a team, a game setting, wave set up, & any additional difficulties the player would like to add for bonus points. if the player says "no" CR0W will say, ''enjoy the old school way''

A right click option to start minigame in single or teams then opens the additional windows before starting a game) there's also a right click option for rewards. Lunar and MUR0 will also be npc's in the pub (won't start the minigame) and have a right click option for rewards. ABagOfMilk (formally known as ''Grean Teal'' is the person that would finish the quest and give you the rewards from it. (XP, quest point(s), and access to the Invasion minigame. He will also be an NPC to help the players fight. (he originally suggested a quest to unlock the minigame)

Team Set up:same way for players to enter NMZ together.

Survival Modes (modes in which 1 & up to 7 players fight waves and waves of attackable npcs)

Easy: the only skiller setting in which all players have their stats set 60, whether you're over that number or below. this is to make all players on the same playing field. no xp is rewarded from monsters. 50 monsters per wave

Normal: Monster levels are the same as they are out side of the minigame, +5%xp is granted per monster kill (based on monster skill level). 50 monsters per wave.

Hard: NPC's levels are increased +5% xp is granted per monster kill(based on monster skill level). No skiller setting, your stats are the same as they are outside of the minigame. 100 monsters per wave. unlocks after completing the 117th wave (excluding bonus waves) of normal mode.

& Insane Mode: NPC's levels are increased higher then hard mode, +10% xp is granted per monster kill(based on monster skill level). no skiller setting, stats are the same as outside of the minigame. unlocks after completing the 117th wave (excluding bonus waves) of hard mode with all Gold & Silver runes enable at once and sacrificing a quest cape, a fire cape, a legends cape, rune defender, to merodach by throwing it into the moat around the white knight castle.
(the underlined part is more of a joke really and could be optional in development if this minigame ever makes it that far)

Duel Modes [1v1] (Only Silver runes will not be usable here, Golds will be usable)

Duel Easy Mode (skiller friendly): Optional wave setting (random or in order), the player will be placed in a 1v1 Dual survival mode. where you see how many attackable npc's you can defeat before you yourself are defeated. Arena takes place inside of rectangular box with 2 spawn rooms at either end, one for you the other for the NPC's to spawn. After you defeat one you respawn in in the spawn room with full health. once inside your opponent will be announced to you and you are given 15 seconds to gather your supplies (inside the room) and face your opponent, when you leave the room the doors will close so you may not hide in there.

Duel Normal Mode: Optional wave setting (random or in order), the player will be placed in a 1v1 Dual survival mode. where you see how many attackable npc's you can defeat before you yourself are defeated.
